And search for the story of Josephine and her amazing princess dress. Most often confused with Joseph and the coat of many colors.

The Eunuch verses are a bit shaky if used to rebut someone arguing with you. The biggest point is that the Bible canon used in most churches says NOTHING at all about Trans* people and thus we were not one of the problems they even felt a need to discuss in writing back then. These religious writings were too precious to even spend time writing about things they did not feel threatened or were absolutely necessary to support their beliefs against the competing religions of the day. We did not even constitute a "lost dog" advertisement for their writers.

I do like CarlaMichelle's take on the Joseph story!

Could it be that transgender people weren't mentioned because hormone and surgical treatment didn't exist back then? The closest approximation would be crossdressing and living in role. My former church used Deuteronomy 22:5 to excommunicate me, and that is a verse of dubious translation. That was actually before I had decided to transition. I read the eunuch verses as at least not condemning eunuchs.

When you learn that ancient Israel recognized, accepted, and affirmed SIX different genders, the scriptures take on a whole new meaning. Notice the last gender in this list, on this pic.

There has be a recent flurry of Rabbinical research on the Deuteronomy passage that has really put a cloud on what it means, they are agreed only that it DOES NOT refer to modern CDing or being TG. The phrases heretofore translated as woman now seem to be leaning toward "disabled person" being made to wear battle garb and take part in a war. Another line that is also possible is the practice of women making infant sacrifice to a war god wearing the "child's (future armor)". The belief being that one sacrificed child prevented many more warriors from being killed in battle. Pretty gruesome. For the male to wear garb of a weak or disabled person out of cowardice or draft dodging was also pretty lame, being the second part of the admonition makes draft dodging a little less stinky than sending disabled people out as cannon fodder to die.

I did a few Divinity papers at uni, and there were some interesting things about gender and the bible coming up at the time. One was that God the Father is actually both male and female in the original language of the bible, or at least gender neutral -- so technically not just a 'father' and not limited to male, but also female.

In the creation account in Genesis, in the original Hebrew, things get really interesting with gender. There is a deeper layer to the story of Adam and Eve but you will have to research that yourself, I can't remember it all now, but it was fascinating stuff.

Angels are all gender neutral, neither male nor female, according to Jesus in the eunuch bit, new testament; also when people reach resurrection state (however you interpret that), according to the bible, they attain something like this gender harmonising state that the angels presumably enjoy (Luke 20:36; Matthew 22:30; Mark 12:25)

Wisdom in old testament Hebrew is feminine, and this gets reflected in the new testament (in Greek) in John 1, where Wisdom (the same person indicated in the old testament) is now the Word, who is Christ . . .

so the conclusion of all this goes something like this: the Godhead Itself is gender ambiguous or completely gender inclusive, so no-one can really argue that any person in creation, made in God's image, is fundamentally or morally wrong based on their gender expression.

Another thing I found fascinating were several Medieval paintings depicting Christ as female or as a hermaphrodite having breasts! I guess it's a bit like the Yin and Yang symbol?

Read this today and it's pretty fitting. From Galatians 3:26-28 ... "26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is [aj]neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

I am an evangelical  I am also transgender.  This is an issue. I have read up on it.  I am not an expert, but I have done a lot of reading.   One thing I do not get about people who take that position is that evangelicals are all about salvation by faith alone by Christ alone by grace alone - unless you are transgender.  Then you cannot be saved, these say, unless you do the work of un-transgendering yourself.  Which is, practically, impossible.  I have read the "solutions" and I don't buy them, obviously, because they do not work.    In evangelicalism salvation is by faith alone, Christ alone, grace alone, without any merit of our own.  That means, to an evangelical, we come to Christ as we are,  in the words of a glorious hymn,   1 Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidd'st me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   2 Just as I am, and waiting not to rid my soul of one dark blot, to thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   3 Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt, fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   4 Just as I am, thou wilt receive, wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; because thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   We do not clean ourselves up BEFORE we come to Christ.  We let Him clean us up AFTER we come to Him.    Those who insist that transgender people cannot be saved are actually preaching another Gospel, a Gospel of works, and have wandered away from the glorious Gospel into works.  That is strong but true.   Struggling with legalism and grace, I have found more of God's mercy and grace available to me because I struggle with being transgender and seeking His resolution of it.  Which, not having the struggle, I would not have needed to seek Him earnestly on this.

Eventually, (especially if you start T,) things will even out. The excitement you feel is from everything being so new. Finally knowing yourself and having others recognise you can be thrilling. However, because it is your natural state of being, eventually that wears off. There's nothing exciting about it anymore because it's "just you." (Which is a perfect thing to be!) This, however, can lead to disappointment. Trust me when I say however, that that disappointment and jarring reaction to wrong pronouns will go away, and you'll once again feel comfortable in yourself.

I love long hair. I'm wanting my hair to touch the floor. I guess we shall see how long it can get.

I wear a wig most of the time.  But I can get by with my natural (shoulder length) hair if I wear a hat or something to cover the mostly empty top. Unfortunately that train has left the station, sigh.

Oddly enough, just this weekend I read some of my poetry at a local event.  In this case it was a Pride group so I didn't have a particular advantage.  But I have read in more inclusive (of cis people) situations, and been fairly well received.  Let's face it, cis people do deserve an equal chance.   I suppose this might be a problem in the future.
    • Ivy
Of course we do.  The few friends I do have are almost exclusively cis or trans women. I think I could have a relationship with a man, but he would be kinda "other" to me.  Could be interesting though. I never have understood guys - even when I was trying to be one.
