My first appointment...

Well... I had my first appointment with my GT. Without going thru all the details... I must say it went extremely well. She and I had a great discussion and subsequently gave me some homework to do! I was a little nervous but after the first few moments I was really at ease talking with her and expressing who I really am. It was very helpful. My next appointment will be in about a month and can't wait.

Congratulations. The first one is always the scariest because there are so many unknowns. But you are on the path now and be sure and to enjoy the ride.

Great to read Kelcie. Mine was a she. Remember she's your therapist and not everybody in your daily life who has a opinion on your journey therapist. My family and close friends had a habit of saying " she doesn't know what she talking about".as if they knew the whole discusion we were having. She taught me tools to use in my everyday life that not trans related too and I will be for ever greatfull. Smiles... Sarah

My first session was much the same. At first i was a bit nervous but very shortly i was at ease and had a great session. Like you i couldn't wait for more visits. I'm glad you are also finding the experience to be so positive. It is a wonderful journey towards finding a path that fits while leaving the baggage of shame and fear behind.

Hugs,

Charlize

My second appointment was yesterday. The short version from my session is that I can't express how happy I am to finally commit to being me and having a wonderful therapist to bring out the emotions, feelings, and everything about me. I am truly happy to finally taking care of me and being who i am rather than conforming to some role sat out by someone else. My GT gave me approval for a letter to see the Endo and told me she will write it when I'm ready. I go back to see her in July! My journey is really picking up speed. In the meantime she gave me a couple Endo's to contact so I can get a feel for waiting lists, costs, etc...so that is part of my next step! Either way...I'm just sooo excited and happy right now! :)

That is wonderful news Kelcie! I'm sure your walking on air. Somehow just dropping the quilt, fear and shame can bring the head up high.

Thanks for sharing your journey. In the midst of some of the news you bring sunlight.

Hugs,

Charlize

UPDATE: My third appointment was yesterday and was a definite milestone for me and my transition. It was the first time I was able to present as myself to anyone and being out in public. It was wonderful experience, so much so I didn't want to return back to male mode. My GT commented a few times on how pretty I looked. I was so happy. I posted a picture in my gallery going to see my GT! My plan is to go back in about 6 weeks where we will sit down to write the letter of rec. It appears I'll be on track to get my first endo appt late oct/early Nov and get started on hrt in december. I'm excited...I'd love for it to be sooner but trying to remain patient!

Hi Kelcie,

Sorry I'm so late joining in with your thread (honestly, I'll be late for my own funeral - I know it).

Anyway, I just wanted to say how pleased I am that it's all going so well for you and that you are at last moving forward. I remember how much I used to look forward to my GIC appointments - I saw each on as being a step closer. Now though, they are behind me and I sometimes miss them. Anyway, just thought I would say 'good for you girl'.

Hi Kelcie, Thank you so much for sharing your experience ^__^ It's reassuring when I see how great other's therapy sessions went since I am just starting them for myself next week. Keep us updated!

I have been taking things slow and haven't posted in awhile but I thought I'd give an update.  My letter of rec has been completed and sent to my Endo as of today!!! Yay! I should have my first Endo appointment within a month or so! Can't wait to get going on the HRT... I'm still on schedule to begin by December. That was my plan anyways! Happy girl here! :)

Congratulations! I've been on HRT since January, one of the best things I've ever done. Be forewarned the girls may hurt at times, but that means they are growing! :D

Well. I think I need to update how things are going. My plan to see my Endo Dr in December didnt quite pan out as I had hoped for because i had a lot going on but all of that has been resolved and I'm back on path. My first appt with my Endo has been scheduled during the first week of March! So happy! It just seems like yesterday that I got tired of not pursuing who I really am.  2016 was a good year, but 2017 will be even better as I finally get comfort in knowing that what I feel inside will begin to match what's on the outside. Can't wait till March!!!

That is am what I planning on. Take the defensive driving class after the conviction and all goes away aside from the fine I pay. My vehicle is a commercial vehicle (10,000+ pound diesel pickup truck with commercial plates), but since I exclusively use it for personal use so I do not need or have a CDL.

I seems like I am dreading going to my job more each day. So, I take it as a sign to jump ship. All the time I expect to be chastised. It is not a good way to have a job. I am on the hunt for a new one, however nothing has surfaced.   Kymmie

I'm currently on the ballot for an open US Representative seat in Portland Oregon.  Here are some of the news stories on me:   Rachel Lydia Rand on Ballotpedia: https://ballotpedia.org/Rachel_Rand#Campaign_themes KATU 2 (ABC) Know Your Candidates 2024: Rachel Lydia Rand https://www.katu.com/news/know-your-candidates/rachel-lydia-rand-d-congress-district-3 League of Women Voters Candidate Forum for US Representative https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOoS39CTEOw KOIN 6 Written Interview | top issues, what's going right https://www.koin.com/news/politics/rachel-rand-on-running-for-district-3-top-issues-whats-going-right/ League of Women Voter's Interview with Rachel Lydia Rand https://youtu.be/V5o9RKE3WVo     This is my third time running for US Rep.  Campaigning is very challenging for me because I only have two family members still alive and I've spent less than 2 weeks with them in my life and I have virtually no social network to start with and I don't belong to any social media sites.  I haven't even been able to post here and on sites like it because of rules about self-promotion.   I'm boldly saying in these videos that I want to be appointed to vice-president in the next 5 years.  My platform is about addressing climate change and everything that comes with it.  Population decline is the number one proposal I have and it is very, very scary and controversial for most people.  The way I see it is that oil is more than a fuel we burn in our cars, it's a substance we pave our roads with.  And it will run out, so at some point in the future, most of these roads are going to go away and we'll have a much harder time distributing food.  I play chromatic pennywhistle and I'm this iconic whistleblower politician saying that we will not be able to support 10 billion people at the end of the century on wind and solar power.  Even solar panels are made with oil and there isn't much difference between a wind turbine and a dam.  If we can build skyscrapers and nuclear power, then you'd think we'd be able to figure out how to make a wind turbine 100 years ago.  It's simply not as efficient.  The numbers I've crunched say that if we have one child for every two women for the next 40 years and then go back to normal replacement rate, we'll get our population down to 2 billion by 2099 which is where the world was at in 1950.  If we don't do that and stay on this current path for the projected 10 billion by 2100, then when oil runs out and climate change raises sea levels and floods coastal cities, humanity is going to be in a very uncivil situation.   I'm sorry that I'm not making a huge issue of transgender rights.  Of course I'm here to support our community.  I'd be highly visible on our national and international scene as a transwoman.  I tend to focus on engineering realities rather than these social issues.  It upsets me that people take engineering for granted.  People tend to just get in their cars and think that there will be some space age technical solution that will make it all OK.   OK, that's my rant for the day :-)  Coffee is on.  4:26am.  The ABC station is interviewing me again in a few hours and people can vote for me today.  Please consider spreading the word.  I'm only one person and it takes an incredible amount of effort to keep my political thinking and platform going.   Sincerely, Rachel Lydia Rand Jazz Musician | Software Engineer

"Exstatic" is an adjective that means feeling great rapture or delight. For example, "His wife gave birth to their first child, and he was ecstatic about it". Synonyms of "ecstatic" include rapturous, entranced, enthusiastic, and frenzied.
