Texas Republicans will make Anti-Transgender a part of the parties platform

Well a little while ago at the Texas Republican Convention, the Dip Stick Governor Greg Abbott joined by Dan Patrick the Lt. Governor declared their solidarity with North Carolina, and they announced that anti-transgender will be part of the upcoming Republican platform, and you could hear the delegates and attendees give cheers and applause.

They announced this to the press, and a packed house in Dallas.

Also the desire secede reared its ugly head again.

I actually hope that they try, and succeed. Then we can build a wall around them close the borders, restrict trade, no more federal aid, no military support.....too bad the U.S. wouldn't allow it. LOL

One can dream.

I guess this is far more important than Jobs, Border Security and other pressing issues of the day. Well, Texas was never on the leading edge.

Just shows them as the bullies and haters they are. If they could do the same thing against blacks and Hispanics and get away with it they would.

Hhmmm....Certainly this a thread containing much vitriol, which I certainly understand. For many decades, from childhood onward, I could best be characterized as a liberal democrat, considerably left-of-center on the political spectrum. I learned to play politics the way of that party, dirty-with-no-holds-barred; winning was the only path forward way, regardless of cost. Over the decades things though, things seemed to change. I don't think I did (i.e., at least politically-speaking :)) The voices on the left somehow seemed to become more & more shrill, more radically extreme, and...to be honest, just kinda crazier than I ever remembered. I remember discussing my perceptions with the only Republican I knew well, an African-American woman, whose family had been Republican since the time of Lincoln. [ I used to tease her about being a Republican. [After all, absolutely no one in our profession wouId ever admit to being a member of that party.] During our interactions, she told me that she once heard Ronald Reagan state that he had not left the the Democratic Party, instead the Democratic Party had left him. Within a few years I became a card-carrying member of the Republican Party.

I have voted Republican for a number of years now. I voted for Mr. Cruz, Mr. Abbot, Mr. Patrick, and Mr. Paxton when they ran for their current political offices. I don't remember calling their opponents names, but I didn't vote for their opponents either. I voted for Mr. Cruz in our most recent state primary election, mostly because I felt that he better understood that there was this thing called the U.S. Constitution than did his primary opponent.

A few folks I've known have asked me how someone like me could possibly be a Republican, stating that surely extreme right wingers would like to....[Well, let's just say that they thought that the extreme right would like to see me cease to exist.] My response was to acknowledge their concern, but also to point out that there were likely a lot of folks on the extreme left who would also prefer a world without people like myself. I explained that I allied myself with the Republican Party because I believed it to the be lesser of two evils, pointing out that the political left would first like to take away my freedoms, liberties, and inalienable rights...prior to my demise. I justified my decision by stating that I felt that I valued my remaining liberties, far more than I valued my few remaining years.

I am a proud Texan and a steadfast Republican, and expect to remain so for the remainder of my life. I also believe that I understand and mostly respect those who come from different places and different political parties, even though I may disagree with their perspectives.

[sometimes...I think that I should quit posting/participating in this forum, but I generally back off from that notion. I do kinda like the place, probably for more than a couple of decent reasons.]

IMHO Tejana, , your post is not really a surprise. No dispersions meant towards you there, just an observation from some of your posts.,

As for Cruz? He had assembled an anti-LGBTQ panel, not to understand us, but to aid him in his campaign for President, so as to pander to the religious right.

Abbott, and Patrick? They are Republican, and.... Anti-Trans....not big news there either!

What time I have left on this planet (which probably won't be many years given my family history), I would like to spend it being who I am without fanfare, without being demonized, and without restricting my pursuit of happiness.... so I'm sure I'll make a lot of people like Cruz, Abbott, and Patrick, and the Republican platform happy if they can keep people like us around just long enough to keep them in the headlines by the fear mongering which makes for good press, and granted the anti-fear platform about LGBTQ is also good press to some extent, but not near as much as shouting to the populous "Danger, Danger", and trying to dispel that myth is much harder to defend, since after all the religious right likes to use the bible, as their ultimate weapon against us.

Shrill.........funny! I see the same thing from the opposite side of the fence.

As far as Republicans go I don't have a problem with them, a it's only when they band together to make people like me their object to fear.

I have seen absolutely no support from them, no wish to leave us be, and let us exist just to be ourselves. What I have seen is that we make good fodder for them to pander to the religious right voting block. In this latest on bathroom access they've passed laws to restrict us, to discriminate against us, all under the guise of safety for women, and children. They offer no solution for us to go pee except to use the restroom of the gender our birth certificates show. That is Not a solution , and quite frankly makes it even more dangerous for us to be out. So far they have nothing to offer. These laws were constructed with the help of many known anti-LGBTQ hate groups, as identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center, under such benign names like 'The American Family Association', and many more not worth listing.

So when you read the vitriol from a good part of these members here, it's because we just aren't feelin the love from the Republican side of the fence. So most of us feel like we are being targeted because of just who we are....our very existence.

Young transgender kids are committing suicide...that's serious! They don't need to be tipped over the edge by being attacked, or made to feel that they are...! I don't hear anything from Abbott, Patrick, or Paxton wishing to help these kids in any way. Patrick feels that accommodating transgender kids would be disruptive to the rest of the student population. That is neither an answer nor a solution for these kids...so by omitting any solution..for me it means transgender kids don't matter. And from where I stand it seems to me to be common theme of the Republican party.

I don't wish to get into a breast-for-tat with you, since after all, I did fight for your right to your opinion, and I will continue my support for those politicians that support me as a transgender American, and I will continue to point out the lack of caring and support by those politicians that don't.

LesleyAnne,

Peace, and Love to all

Well, here's the big questions:  What does it mean to be masculine?  What does it mean to be a woman?    I've been around a lot of rule-bending in those areas.  There's all sorts of "traditional" views about what men and women do.  Men work on mechanical things, defend/protect, earn a living, play rough sports, etc.  Women cook and clean, are gentle and nurturing, value aesthetics over function, etc.   Yet, my very "masculine" industrial-manager husband cooks just as well as any Betty Crocker wannabe, and tells the bedtime stories that are most in-demand by the kids.  My GF, who is surely "ALL Girl" is a highly skilled mechanic, a street racer, was busily laying concrete while 6 months pregnant, and practices kenjutsu (Japanese sword fighting skills).  And me?  I'm AFAB but I'm infertile and I feel like I should have had a male body...yet I possess very little in the way of "manly" skills or desire to acquire them.  I'm in my boy form these days, but pretty much useless for accomplishing "boy stuff."     I think my family blew those definitions out of the water.  Yet, somehow our family structure is also religiously patriarchal....and happily so!  It'll bend your brain to try to figure that one out.    I'd say its just important to be you, do what you do best, and stick your tongue out at anybody who doesn't like it.

Welcome to the board gizgizgizzie! I sure can understand what dysphoria feels like. I found it stayed in my head during nearly all waking hours. Although, sometimes held in a little deeper. But it was triggered easily. I hope you can find that place you feel comfortable with yourself. This is a good place to find help as you traverse your journey.   Jennifer

hi everyone, my name is giz (or gizzie), i use all prns but i prefer they/it and i just found out abt this place pretty recently !! im really excited to find community among other trans people from so many walks of life !! in my personal life, i do have trans/queer friends but its not easy to navigate that without coming out all willy nilly (and i can't come out to my family, pretty much ever) so this is a pretty good place for me to get to know people and make new friends !!   i also have this weird dysphoria issue that i feel like everyone (and society at large lol) is attaching me to categories and boxes that don't really fit me (obviously this is to do with my agab) so being here without that presentation is also really helpful !!   i also hope to be able to start and share my transitions goals and things like that (just getting my body to a more androgynous look) !!   thanks for reading, and i hope to see more of y'all soon !!

Well, my friends are out publicly. Openly transgender, and on HRT.  I agree that the survival of all of us is at stake.  But I think there are threats greater and more dangerous than those faced exclusively by LGBTQ folks.   Rising prices. Unaffordable food.  EPA strangling transportation and energy.  Needless foreign wars that put us at risk of literal nuclear annihilation.  A government that wants to tax us, track us, and control every aspect of our lives...including using us as guinea pigs for their medical experiments.     Trump is no savior.  Neither is the Republican party.  But I believe that a vote for Democrats in the federal government is for sure a vote for globalism and what follows it.  War, famine, plague, slavery, and death don't care if we're trans or cis.

People who are out publicly, and openly transgender, maybe on HRT, having changed names and gender, have a lot to lose if anti-trans politicians take power.  They have openly called for our eradication, and promise to do everything they can to accomplish this.  (again, 2025) For someone in this position the election is about our survival.  It's foolish to delude ourselves into thinking "Oh, they don't really mean that.  It's all for show," or, "There's other more important things to concern ourselves with." Maybe for some people the other things take priority.  But if you have skin in the game, things look different.

If that happens, a lot of things I don't want to see might also be codified into law.  And some things that shouldn't be law might not get repealed.  To me, progress in one area isn't worth the price we'd have to pay in several other areas.     For me, voting on LGBTQ issues always ends up as an "out of the frying pan, but into the fire" sort of event.

Trying out a new wig. Got my reading glasses on. I've also got dark roots now - first time in years.

Thea, your post made me think of a comic named Chloe Petts whom I saw recently on Hannah Gadsby's Gender Agenda comedy special on Netflix. She is a cisgender masculine lesbian. She is brilliant and so funny. I was intrigued by her identification - specifically masculine, not butch. And it seems to me there is a difference.

Today I had a dr appt. When I checked in, I was asked my surname, which I gave. Apparently there were two patients with appointments at that time with that same surname. The receptionist asked, "Are you (my legal name which is feminine) or Paul?" I got such a kick out of it not being assumed I had the feminine name.

That must have felt affirming, albeit perhaps weirdly so. However, I'd construe that more broadly (no pun intended) as sexism rather than misogyny where the latter would imply contempt. Also, incidentally, I've heard chivalry referred to as "benevolent sexism".

My boss is in a panic. His business is a couple straws away from breaking a camel in half. He's just handling the stress very poorly.   My dad, though. He's handling things pretty well, as long as I continue to don't get massively offended by being called: son, boy, etc. His eldest is leaving the State and looks so different than he's been used to over the years. I haven't told him I'm on HRT, but to be fair the changes haven't been massive. I've always had boobs, more so after COVID weight gain and made more obvious with its loss, but now I'm not hiding them--and obviously wearing a bra. The estrogen has done some work, but nothing major (sadly). I think the biggest HRT changes have been my skin and a mild amount of fat redistribution.   Today I'm wearing my cheater, I almost have cleavage! :D I need to get another t-shirt bra to keep a good rotation. I only have two, one push-up, and the rest are unlined (great for Summer, but not great for my Summer wardrobe ).
