Hi Ladies,

Sandra Here,

Yesterday I told my wife that I liked to wear woman's cloths. I have been a cross dresser for as long as I can remember. I've been married for 36 years now and in the early 90's my wife caught me dressed. She didn't leave me then, thank god, and we continued life with Sandra in the closet. After I retired my need to dress increases and again about two years ago she found panties in my under ware drawer. We had some discussion and she told me that she knew that I wore woman's cloths all the time. I didn't deny it.

My wife has had two back surgeries since January so I have been doing the wash, cleaning and cooking while trying to slip in some of my own work. I have been putting my panties and other girly things in the wash for my wife to wash for about two years now with an occasional lacy one coming up missing when the wash was done.

A week ago Friday, I started the laundry, including two lacy boy short panties in the mix. I had to leave the house and while I was gone my wife, who is recovering slowly, pulled things from the dryer and discovered the lacy panties. During our discussion yesterday she told me that she had thrown them out and had taken two white bras out of my drawer and hidden them.

I asked my wife if she had done any research on cross dressing recently and she said no. We had covered that in the early 90's using her college psychology book.

I need help finding relevant material on cross dressing that will help my wife understand why I like to wear woman's cloths. For that matter, I would like to have more information myself. I have spent quite a bit of time reading Laura's and other web sites related to cross dressing. I truly love my wife and I want to do all I can to help her understand me. My feminine side is a part of me and I can't shove Sandra back into a box again.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hugs

Sandra

Hi Sandra, being out is not a one time one person and once and for all one stop deal. It is actually a journey that goes on nearly forever if you feel it necessary. I came out a few hours ago by putting a letter in the mail box to the chair person of my high school class's 50th re-union. Ten years ago when I last saw them I was not even close to coming out. My current status of Trans* is in my signature line here. You are out now in my belief pattern.

I am concerned for you and your wife that she is throwing your things away. That is a terrible thing for her to do and indicates that she insists on being in control of your life without regard to your feelings. Maybe it's time for a night out with the "girls" at the local laundromat and a "keep your cotton picking hands off my cotton undies lady" agreement with her. She will lose if she breaks it although you are not expressing real rage here. Please do look around here, and do listen to our experience. Here you can be you though.

You are certainly more out than i was for a great deal of time. I simply hid my clothing well out of site and possible discovery. I had learned that i had to do that as a child and carried it through most of my life. When i finally did come out to my wife i simply removed all of his clothing and recycled them. Perhaps transition was easier for me in that regard because my family had two choices and fortunately they chose to try to understand. Your situation and desires are different. Transition isn't for all of us for sure but your need to dress is no less strong. While we often suggest that members see a gender therapist when contemplating transition they can be extremely helpful for crossdressers as well. That is especially true in their ability to explain the need to a partner so that you can find support rather than judgement.

Your dressing makes her uncomfortable but your honesty will hopefully give you a path towards mutual comfort.

Hugs,

Charlize

Hi, Sandra. I pretty much agree with what my colleagues advised. I do think that some couples therapy might help, and certainly a heart to heart talk with your wife is essential. That said, I did find some resources that might help her understand things better. The second link will take you to a page with tons of listings for books, blogs and other resources. I wish you luck.

Hi Ladies,

Thank you for your kind replies and leads to information. I guess that I'm looking for answers for my wife as well as myself for why I cross dress. I do not want to become a woman, I'm not gay, I just want to be accepted as me. My plan now is to print off a couple of documents that talk about the "why he cross dresses" and order a book or two that we can both read. I love my feminine self and I'm hoping that with more information my wife will have a better understanding of cross dressing and me.

I want to be able to answer her question from the other day. "why do you want to wear woman's panties. They don't fit you properly" (All my panties fit very well. I haven't lost anything yet.)

I know that I will always have a very strong feminine side. I only hope that my wife will grow to understand me and accept me the way I am.

As always, thanks for listening.

Hugs

Sandra

Welcome, @MAN8791. I relate to this so much. I'm roughly the same age as you, afab & nonbinary. For decades, I beat myself up for being a "broken" girl/woman. And I tried my darndest for many of those years to perform woman successfully. While outwardly I may have seemed "a success", inwardly the effort and dysphoria caused me so much anxiety, panic, and depression that it eventually became unsustainable. For me, the first step was letting go of identifying as "broken". Next, I allowed myself to be however I am. And very rapidly I felt better - in fact, initially I felt ecstatic. The door was open for me to really learn about self-love and therefore love itself.

Well, the counter space in the kitchenette is pretty Limited. But also cost, and usefulness. I guess she is mostly right, and it isn't really important.

Wasn't sure whether to post this in the "uplifting news" or "news" forum. This bill is pro-LGBTQ+, albeit 30 some odd years too late with 100s of thousands of lives lost throughout the AIDS crisis. The upshot is that ol' Ron has actually done some good for the community. That's really...something...although I doubt he sees it that way. And most importantly, greater access to screening and care will save many lives.   https://ncpa.org/newsroom/qam/2024/05/01/floridas-governor-signs-bill-expand-hiv-care

Both of my parents were raised in WASP-ish families. What was or wasn't appropriate, with an emphasise on superficial appropriateness (conformity) was verbally beaten into me the second I hit puberty.   Which is really sad as I think back, and was bewildering at the time. I remember being really free to be expressive how I wanted to and then once I started puberty, all of that freedom disappeared and I didn't understand, at all.

I'm doing "beans and rice" for dinner tonight, but it's Punjabi style red bean curry and saffron rice, and I always have an appetizer tray of cut vegetables and dip (seasoned yogurt to go with the theme) on the table.  Might grab a package of naan from the store on the way home, or just make a pan of very american biscuits to go with.

I'm volunteering both days of our Pride Festival (signing other volunteers in, lol).    Taking my two younger kids (oldest is way too cool for school, lol) to a family friendly pride festival, and then turning them loose at the city wide event while I listen to music. They're old enough to experiment with independence and the festival is in a controlled enough space they can feel like they're getting away from me without being *that* far away. My middle is newly out as LGBTQ+ and has been practicing their makeup look for a couple weeks already (age 14) <3

Well today was mostly sleeping so far. I woke up at around 0600 and made sure my oldest was ready for school. I came back down on the computer chair and next thing I knew it was 0953. I went through speech therapy for myself. Next thing I realize it's 1300 and apparently went to sleep again. I knew I slept last night but whew apparently not enough.

Jeans, grey henley, heathered grey blazer with elbow patches, split sole jazz sneakers. Blazer is one of my favorite wardrobe pieces and it's warm but super windy today so perfect sort of day for it

Fragile is my word of the day. More intense dysphoria than my baseline normal, feeling emotionally on edge. Also ignoring a piece of therapy homework that's actually going to be beautiful when it's done (I'm doing an art piece exploring emotions around the name I was given at birth).

Got accosted in a grocery store parking lot this morning by someone out on a petition drive (in my state, citizens can gather petition signatures to advance ballot measures; I'm always a little cautious about encountering petition drives "in the wild" because unless it's an issue that's been talked about *a lot* it can also be used as a way to just gather voter information).   ANYWAY, the person with the clipboard is presumable cis male and aggressive and I'm AFAB, genderfluid, dressed pretty androgenously this morning and this guy hollars across the parking lot asking "young lady" if I'm a registered voter.   Informed him I'm neither young nor a lady (guy was at least a decade younger than me, maybe more) and wasn't interested in the petition anyway.   "Oh, so I guess you're just offended then."   "YEP!"

I also struggle with being short (5'2) and everyone around me is taller especially my guy friends. And to my guy friend I pass with them and they're cool with me being trans but I often don't feel man enough and I'ts really hard dealing with the feeling of not being enough, and my mom often makes it seem as if I'm hopping on a trend which isn't true. I wear masculine clothes and sometimes I pass well but a lot of times I don't and that's really a struggle. Some people say I act masculine and others say the opposite, I try to pass but some times it's really hard especially with my mom because she uses my birth name me and uses she her pronouns for me and doesn't let anyone use anything else because they say they're being respectful to her even though she's not there. I remember being in an art group and they use my name Felix and my mom got flaming mad and told me and the people in charge that if they called me Felix again she would revoke my privilege to go there and I'd never go again. So it's often tough to pass all the time.
