Choosing for Gender Therapist in the ATL Metro

So, I take one more step forward on the road of transition.

I've been pouring over info from a few websites (this one included) trying to narrow down what therapist I want to consult with. Some seem expensive, others reasonable. So very close, others a decent drive around the city.

Sadly a lot the info floating around out there seems dated or the therapist wanted to skimp on webspace. While I sort through the information I can find, I wanted to ask about any opinions or thoughts that any you other ladies and gentlemen out there in ATL had about the therapists in our city to help me narrow down the field a bit more.

Thank you in advance.

Kate, Hopefully a member in your area will contact you about a therapist that they trust. If not i would suggest that you talk to a local GLBT center. I'm sure Atlanta has a good support network and i would guess there is a Trans* support group. I'd ask others who they like. That's what i did and if you were in my area i'd certainly recommend the woman who helped me.

Hugs,

Charlize

I know several great gender therapists here in metro Atlanta.

AnnaLisa Derenthal [email protected] (678) 431-3901 over half of her practice is Gender related and she holds a free support group weekly http://www.annalisaderenthal.com/ She is in the Alpharetta area of the subburbs

Erin K. Swenson, Th.M. Ph.D. [email protected] 4704284067 Erin is a mature trans woman who also hosts a free support group weekly www.erinswenson.com Dr. Swenson is in town near the MLK center.

Anna Lisa was my primary and Erin was my second for my surgery letter. Love them both.

There is also a Trans man therapist Dr. Ren Massey that I know of but have not met. http://drrenmassey.com/

Message me if you need additional resources in Atlanta - i have great professionals who can help with all aspects of transition including make up and hair.

Thank you very much, Diane. I will definitely take you up on on that offer in a little bit; there is a desperate need of some hair styling here.

I'm glad to see such wonderful recommendations. Both of you ladies have definitely helped shape who I will be talking with first. :)
