Excellent article, but I doubt it will change many minds. Not when those on the right contend that the AMA, the APA, and the AAP changed their diagnostic manuals out of "political correctness." The fight goes on.

More of these types of messages need to be dispersed widely, to help end ignorance.

I know I'm not crazy that if we end the discrimination, ignorance, hatred, and bigotry then most of our problems simply go away.

Most would agree that a significant portion of the problems related to GD are external, not internal (I know I'm preaching to choir here ;-)).

I had read somewhere that originally GD was placed in the DSM because it would be the only way we could get treatment at all, by having a medical code. This, despite as CyndiRae acknowledges, that it's a group of "problems" that are mostly external in nature.

Why yes, let's ban accommodation for blind, deaf, or crippled people too so the wingnuts won't feel put upon. Blue eyes must be a mental illness to those with brown eyes. Donald Trump breast feeds and encourages it in public. Shaking head.

Republican lawmakers are a bit off mentally in regards to many issues. I'm perhaps crazy but it with love of the life i now live without the guilt and fear they try to heap on me. Those feelings can create an insanity for certain. Acceptance of myself as i am has relieved that to a great extent. I simply have to turn my head away and not listen to their raving. I'm glad the main stream press is showing the wrongness of their thought.
