Making America Safe Again?

Geee Wilickers!

I just heard the Republican's campaign moto for the first time. "Making America Safe Again". How on this Earth does hatred and bigotry make America safe? It will make America ugly for certain, but not safe. How could this Party, who freed the slaves, who (contrary to some beliefs) pushed forward the civil rights act, have fallen so far? They've done a complete about face. Now they're the ones touting discrimination, and it's ugly. I used to vote Republican. But the Party has changed. I do not recognize the Party anymore. And now this, targeting, in this manner, our commynity, one of the most vulnerable communities there is. I'm thinking of the still hiding trans people who will be more afraid than ever to come out of the closet. I'm thinking of the trans people who will be beaten up or even murdered because of thier (Republicans) rantings. I'm thinking of the trans people who may feel so rejected and demoralised that they attempt suicide.? Is this really worth the few more votes they think they might get? I think all of you are worth a whole lot more than a vote!

Lots of love,

Timber Wolf?

I was raised Republican but more of a independent since the North Carolina bathroom bill. I fear walking down the road with all the new rights the Democrats fought for our LGBT new rights only to be taken out by a city bomb, ak 47, biological weapon or chemical attacks. My last dress I will wear will be in my casket. I fear from shari'a law. Her old boss gave Iran a pass on their nukes and they hang Gays. Isis throw gay men off building roofs. Saudi Arabia the women are 2/3 a human being and not allowed to even drive. I agree we are seen as the spawn of evil by conservatives but as a growing part society we will part of the death toll too. I don't fear my grandchildrens right to the life they choose, the snowball has become to large to stop, but I worry for their safety from overseas religious radicals spawn from hell. Sarah

Numerous people whose parents, grandparents, ect. were Republicans are now either independents, Libertarians, or Democrats. I believe it was back in 1964, Nelson Rockefeller vs. Barry Goldwater for some of the root causes.

After 1964 or so southern conservative democrats became republicans and northern liberal republicans became democrats. You need to understand they talk in code. Consider, " Make The South Great Again " .

The other bit of code, a very old bit, is "states rights." We hear more of that kind of talk now than we have since 1964.

It is hard to believe that they have changed as much as they have. Once the Johnson administration managed to get the 64 civil rights past congress the change has been dramatic. It is indeed based on the principals of money, hate and fear. i think the former is working for it's own goals as an extension of a misuse of the capitalistic system. Greed rules and fear is it's tool.

It's hard to believe that we can be made an object of fear but we are being made into monsters who rape women and children. It's not important that many of us could work in harems (sounds good).

I can't believe that we have to hate others in order to be safe. It does however get more votes from those who fall victim yo the ever louder beating of the drum. The last republican administration kicked the hive and destroyed balances as never before through stupidity and lies. Our economy tanked and those who actually hurt our country remained free.

It certainly isn't perfect now. It never has been perfect despite the claims. It is tremendously better than 8 years ago. I shake to think where "states rights" and a "great" america would take us next.

Hugs,

Charlize

About the only one of these you'll need to worry about in America is being thrown off a roof (or otherwise assaulted) for being gay or gender-variant - something that will become more likely if the Republicans get in and roll back LGBT protections.
