Politics does effect me

I was able to change my name and gender because of the ruling that the Supreme Court made about gay marriage.  My wife and i are now safe should one of us get sick or die the other would not loose everything due to taxes or legal actions by a "closer" relative.

This article explains in part what is at stake.  i may be selfish but if i don't vote my interests who will.

When we transition we are in a same sex marriage and could easily have problems according to a conversation i had with the head of the ACLU

Hugs,

I agree Charlize, as a married trans woman, I am truly grateful for our gender identity and marriage rights as they are today !

It seems so many others are seemingly willing to just throw this away. But we've already exhausted all that....

Hi Everyone,

Too many of the Republican leadership have either got a radically conservative agenda, or are leaning that way. When we accept and get used to things being a certain way, it can be hard to imagine those things being radically changed or taken away.  But they can be sometimes. Right now, there's a vacancy in the Supreme Court, which gives it a 50 - 50 split between conservative leaning and liberal leaning justices, 4 to each side. The Republican's will try to use there majority in the Senate to prevent a confirmation of a new justice until after they hope Trump wins and is sworn in. The chances of the Democrats winning control of the Senate are slim, and there chances of winning the House make climbing Mount Everast seem easy. If they succeed in delaying confirmation of a Supreme Court justice and win the White House, the Republicans will have everything, literally, the White House, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Supreme Court. This would be dangerous no matter which party got such control. This could signifficantly weaken or even remove many of the checks and balances put into government by the constitution. We would be left to depend on there integrity that they would not hurt us. There would be no legislature, no Supreme Court to protect us. If they can then be in lockstep, they could railroad all manner of legislation through government against anyone they don't like. You say that can't happen?  History states otherwise. In the 1930's, a German politician promised to do all manner of horrible things. Many German's simply couldn't believe any man would actually do those things, thinking he was only trying to get support from the malcontents and angery German citizens. Germany and the world learned that mistake the hard way. Of course, you know this man was Adolf Hitler. Now, the Republicans are not cup cake's, and Donald Trump is not another Adolf Hitler. But they are politicians, and they do have an agenda which does not go in our favor. Ordinarily a Trump victory would not be a big desaster. But with complete control in government at stake, we could find our recently recognized rights wittled away. People can look at there ideals so intently that they fail to see just how there acts affect innocent people. I believe the Republicans would think themselves doing right, and in ignorance do great harm. As I said, such complete power is dangerous in either parties hands. The Republicans just happen to be the party that could grab total power.

Lots of love,

Timber Wolf?

I don't know if my phone malfunctioned or if a moderator changed a word which entirely changed what I said. I was trying to say the Republicans are not a certain very bad political party founded in 1930's Germany, of which Adolf Hitler was its leader. I did not write "cup cakes". By changing it to "cup cakes", it makes it sound like I am bashing the Republicans, a thing which I am not trying to do.

It was probably changed by the automatic word filter. Offensive words are changed to something more suitable for a G rated forum. I suspect you were referring to the nationalist socialist party that was prevalent in Germany in the 1930's

I wonder how the new word filter will do the phrase:  a basket of tennis testicles.

It may end up with something one never uses to play tennis.

I attend a medical day-centre in Texas for needed medical services. It's religious oriented, so not gender fluid friendly. I of course dress 100% in female attire yet androgynous to keep both "them happy", and I really don't mind.    I of course am imposed rules that no other participant is bound by. The examples are the allowed size of my backpack, or how many visits per day I can see my Representative payee.  The gender neutral restroom use was a compromise that all off us have agreed to.  Not being able to wear tanks tops or shorts that aren't "Bermuda length" are other examples of where I am restricted more than any other participant. "Bra talk" is strictly forbidden, even though their doctor and occupational therapist were the ones that told me I needed support due to neck pain.    I found myself being reprimanded by staff three times yesterday for very petty details, and they have constantly pushed for me to remove myself from the program voluntarily. I am of course someone not welcomed in the program, but federal discrimination laws prevent them from removing me. They instead are just making life miserable with the hopes that I will leave on my own.

Nope.  I live in a rural area.  Pride events are for city folks.  The normally quiet LGBTQ+ club kind of changes atmosphere during that time, and things get a bit political.  As a non-Democrat, I avoid it.

For me, definitely the size thing.  I'm 5'4" on a good day, and 100lbs.  I can pass as a teenage boy, but never for my real mid-30s age.  And since my husband looks older than his age, I'm often assumed to be his kid.  Or folks think there's something illegal going on.      Also, my lack of the typical aggressive "masculine" demeanor.  I don't really desire the typical masculine social role, nor could I do it even if I tried really hard.  I'm usually quiet and kind of timid.

I am sorry for your struggles. I cannot empathize, but I can surely sympathize. I wish only the best for you!

No, they are the only provider of services I need an my area. 😑

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.
