Hello :) I joined this forum so that I could talk to other transgender people. I enjoy reading a lot, and my favourite things to watch are nature documentaries.

Welcome!  What books do you like to read? I am a fan of science fiction and fantasy, but also history.

Hugs,

I like to read Tolkien's works, some small time kindle authors that write great fiction with lgbt characters, Anne Mccaffery's dragonriders of Pern and arcorna series, and a bunch of other books. I have over five hundred kindle books, with probably a good two hundred physical copies. Books about Colditz castle are some really good history books. Also, I did make sure to read the rules before I posted.

My favorite author was Robert Asprin and his Mythadeventure series and his Phule's company series. I loved his sense of humor. I somehow found an old book on the Soviet navy in WWII. Very interesting read, but very dry. I have read the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, but have not read the Simirillion (Spelling??).

Silmarillian :) Children of Hurin was started by Tolkien, and was finished by his son. I really recommend it. It is very good.

I hope so too. I notice that in several communities people who aren't entirely sure what they are exactly or don't identify strictly within the binary aren't as welcome as others, so I'm a little nervous about joining.

Laura's is an inclusive community (we do try and make it so), everyone is entitled to their point of view, as long as posts are with in the rules. Thank you for bringing this up !

I am fine with occasional disagreements so long as they are civil,  but when the overall attitude is against non binary and questioning people, it can get a little lonely in a place where you hoped to fit in. :(

I do too. Internet advice for Transmasculine people isn't always the best, so I hope to talk to other guys who have already been through transitioning will help me more.

I am active IRL with a "fine group of pirates" in the non-binary community out here where I live.  None of them are really pirates, but some can and do steal hearts as you get to know them.  I am an older "not so binary as I may look" person who has found that since my transition I am shifting and enjoying being with the genderfluid groups of people which are generally a good deal younger than I am, but so it seems are a group of  people my age, who now have the ability to be more open thanks to the younger folks.

You now have enough posts to use our Personal Messenger system, so if you are feeling like there is something you may not be comfortable posting in the open forums, ANY of us on the moderator or Administrator staff here will listen and try to help you via the PM if we can.

Be assured Dragonmyst that there are quite a few non-binary people here. I am one of them! Outside of Laura's there is a predominently binary world so things are never straightforward, but here there are many different equal views. In any group there will be people who disagree but usually they will be understanding.

Hi Dragonmyst,

Welcome to Laura's! Nope, you don't have to fit within any strict binary codes here. Where ever you are in the gender spectrum is just fine with us! I've read "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings", and usually do so about once a year. I also like C. S. Lewis's Narnia stories. And I like the Harry Potter series. It's good to have you here Dragonmyst!

Lots of love and a big welcome hug,

Welcome Dragonmyst.  This site is here to help folks find peace with themselves and share their experiences with others.  I certainly have discovered a great deal about myself since i came here.  You are certainly not alone.  Questioning is what we are all about and even if we have "answers" one hopes the goal is to help others find their path.

Hugs,

Charlize

Hi and welcome Dragonmyst!  This is overall a very friendly and supportive group.  And judging by what I've read above so far, you're fitting in just fine. :-)   And I hear you regarding some groups.  Some people out there are really mean...really mean.  Miserable too I'm sure.

It took me less than 6 months, in how my body quickly responded to hormone therapy, I was once a 40 jeans size, and now I'm comfortably wearing 12 to 14 sizes. Estrogen can speed things up and can slow things down in order to make adjustments. Seeing a treating doctor is very important to monitor the hormone levels to avoid possible side effects later on in life.

I actually have Yoga as part of my exercise routine at the moment.  Since I'm still in the first month (of three, arbitrarily chosen by me) I've only got it slated for weekends, Sat/Sun.  I am finding out though if I get a little in during my morning wake up that when I get to my cardio in the evening, my joints don't ache as much. Right now the routine is: Weekly - Minimum of 3 days of cardio Weekly - Minimum 1 day of Yoga Monthly - Single endurance jog, preferably on Sunday I want my big thighs and butt to kinda hang around, so I am going to work some cycling into the mix after the third month. So far though, with the help of the Yoga stretches, Down 14lbs in a month. Next week is month 2.  ;_;  Going to put the tredmill on a slight incline to see if I'm ready for it.  If ya don't hear from me, the tredmill ate me. Oh!  I use a product called Yoga Stack 52, so I can Yoga at home.  It's just a deck of cards with the poses, difficulty, areas they stretch, and a nifty QR code you can scan to see a demonstration.

Overly emotional language always helps civil discourse. Not.

I often see people on the political Right claiming that all the wealthy elites are funding the "Radical Left".  But what I see seems to be the opposite.  There seems to be no lack of "big money" funding the Right.  The so called "Radical Left" is completely disorganized.  The "liberal media" (controlled by the wealthy) seems to be committed to presenting "both sides" of everything (including trans issues) whereas the Right makes no such pretense.   It should be noted, that in 1930's Germany the wealthy industrialists had no problem supporting the party (that can't be mentioned here). I have seen very few on the Left (out side of a few on the fringe) supporting an authoritarian regime.  Whereas plenty on the Right seem fine with it - down to many local MAGA folks.  Most of the GOP doesn't seem willing to even commit to accepting an election that they don't win.  Both Gore and Clinton accepted their loss despite having actually won the popular vote.  (it's that pesky electoral college thing)   Some on the Right claim to be oppressed by not being allowed to oppress certain minorities.  And Rightwing authoritarianism is now considered "Patriotism."  Go figure.

Technically, it's before noon ;)   Uneventful day so far. I have my personal devices limited to 15 mins of screen time a day because I had a C lol, only problem really is the fact I do a lot of my social interaction online because most of my friends are in another state... been a little lonely, I guess? Plus I do a lot of reading and such online, and use my phone for references to draw, so there's a lot I don't have access to. So, just an annoyance now.   Anyways, fixed the C, hopefully I'll have normal things again soon ^-^   My mom's been having me take this herb pill in the mornings that is supposed to help with anxiety/ADHD-type symptoms, but I still have been having about the same amount of trouble focusing and sensory issues, so I guess it's not working haha

Claire shares the same first letter as my male name.  I tend to prefer shorter names to long ones, and this one seemed feminine to me without going overboard. I was inspired by Claire Danes, Claire Underwood, and Claire Dunphy (upon whom I always had an enormous crush ).  Plus, it just felt right. I don't know if Claire will be my final legal name, but it's stuck longer than the others I've tried on.

I always loved Ashley. I named my 2006 Roush Mustang that too. I also had a crush to Ashley Force who races in NHRA.

I'm the same (estradiol, no blockers) and for me, after 4 years, T levels naturally *decreased*. I'm at E&T levels of a postmenopausal woman.   Astrid

Revealed: the super-rich fascist Maga lobbying group who is brain-washing the far-right policies of Trump and other Republicans.   Documents show the Conservative Partnership Institute is pushing its far-right agenda at events involving GOP members. A powerful, right-wing lobbying group is promoting a hard-right policy agenda and cementing ties between the Republican party and the far right at at least 21 events involving senators, members of Congress, and both junior and senior political aides. The documents offer previously unreported details of Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI). In 2021, the former congressman and Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows joined CPI. Both Meadows and Mitchell were at the center of Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Meadows was indicted in Georgia in August.    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/may/23/conservative-partnership-institute-republican-laws
