Just got done with my first session earlier today, was a wonderful experience. The therapist is a wonderful person, she is nice, kind, and knowledgable. It felt great to actually verbalize my feelings with a real person. She also gave me some good tips and advice, such as attending the GLBT organization at my college apparantly there are some trans people there. Whats really great is she has a group session set up with 20s range MTF that might have some room. I have my next session next Monday.

Hey, didn't my wonderful girlfriend Sally help you get fixed up with a therapist? Or at least I seem to remember that she gave you some names?

Anyway, you got it and now you are going places...And the GLBT organizationds are great places to meet other folks with like interests and problems and to talk and make friends!

Very nice, Honey...I'm very happy for you!

Thanks for the reply. It really felt great to just open up. And yes Sally helped me get setup with a therapist. Im kinda nervous and a tad scared about going to a GLBT organization. But I took my first step, im still alive and feel amazing and would like to continue this feeling. I currently have a few goals for the coming week. My first is to buy some non overly feminine clothing and wear it outside, my other goal is to wear something a tad more feminine to my next therapy session on Monday. On another good note, about halfway into the session she changed her pronoun usage from male to female. Was the first time ive been refered to like that, was a nice feeling.

Hey Anthelia,

You had a good session - I knew you would like her, she'e a sweetheart.

As you opened up to her she read you as really being female and from now on that is all you wil be to her.

She doesn't take to long to get a feel for that inner person.

You go girl!

Love ya,

Sally

Gratz Anthelia :)

The first session is a big step! I am happy to hear you might get to be in a group session soon as well.

It’s a wonderful feeling when things finally get started !!

Congrats Anthelia, the first session is always the toughest, but sounds like you found a therapist that you like, and that's important. My therapist i trust with my life and i tell him everything, he is like an old friend. Between sessions make notes on a pad so when you go you don't forger something important.

Hope you can get into the group, my therapist's office tried that but had nobody willing to go. Your local LGBT center in addition to your college may have monthly transgender meetings. My city does and we usually have 20 - 30 people there.

HUGS!

I just contacted my college GLBT organization and am currently waiting on a response. Now I just need to muster up some courage to try and find my size at a goodwill store, I walked in today wandered around and left. Was kinda sad especially since I know that I don't know anyone there that no one knows me and I won't see them other than at the store, I just had an odd feeling they were watching me. Im going to try tommorow around opening when it will hopefully be less crowded. My goal is to buy an outfit or two, and wear one to my next session. My other goal is to come out to a friend this week and try to open the door with my mom.

Hey Anthelia,

Good luck on buying the outfit - it is a major step but it is one you have to take sooner or later, if you go to my gallery, you will see the outfit that I wore to my last session and then over to get my blood work done - I left my home around 1Pm and got home at 9:30PM - Sally had a full day and was wearing a cute outfit!

Enjoy the newness of all of this.

Love ya,

Sally

Unfortunatly I had some difficulty finding something in my size at goodwill, im thinking my best bet will be heading onto ebay. I saw some nice things on there for fairly inexpensive prices.

Had a slight break from the forums here due to school coming to an end, only 1 more exam left. I just had a group therapy session today, met some great women. They are further along in transition and pass great. Great thing is one of the people in the group session also attends the GLBT meetings at my school. Now I just need a job so I can actually go shopping.

Well, so far I have had a few group sessions which are great. The first one had 3 people show up with the second one having 8. Hopefully I get a paycheck before the next group and have time to go shopping, now that I actually have an income source again.

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!

True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.

happiness to me is being ME. At all times, and it has yet to happen.

Hello & welcome, giz! Your post makes me remember how excited I was to join here too. I also had queer friends at the time I joined, but any of my trans friends lived a long distance away. So most local queer friends are gay & I felt uncomfortable coming out to them bc I couldn't assume they'd understand genderqueerness. So it was a thrill to join here and immediately have access to do many wonderful, genuine, kind & thoughtful friends-to-be.   Are you saying you're concerned that if you come out to your queer friends that somehow your parents will find out?     My love, I just want to affirm that that's not a weird dysphoria. It's just dysphoria. And we definitely get it. You're in good company here!     Look forward to seeing you around here & getting to know you. I shoot for androgynous appearance as well, leaning towards masculine.   Hope you're having a splendid day!

Listening to a YouTube mix for me and this song came up and I immediately fell in love again and just want to play music with like minded musicians playing OUR music and feel the joy and fulfillment even if no one else gets it. I love to fall into the music....
