Update and Reminder: Forum Move on Sunday, September 3!

Evening everyone!

There's been a slight change to the plan.  Instead of using Vanilla, which I found out is severely limited unless we pay them to host it for us, we're switching to phpBB.  The good news is we just avoided having to pay $600 a month to have any features to speak of.  The bad news is I won't be able to import our posts and profiles.  It will be necessary to sign up for a new account and carry on after Sunday.

These forums will stay online, so everything you've contributed isn't going anywhere.  The new forums will link back here so folks can search and browse the wealth of information you've all provided.  We all absolutely hate that this is necessary, but Invision continues to get more and more broken with each update they put through.  It's gotten to the point where it takes so much time and effort to figure out what they break with every update that it's just not worth that time anymore, nor is it worth the money we pay them.

The big thing to remember is that we're not losing anything - we're not giving anything up.  There will be some adjustment needed, but I've already got tutorials posted and I'll be refining them if it looks like folks need more help than is offered by default.  When you log in midday Sunday, you'll see the new forums for the first time.  

I want to thank you for supporting us through a change that's absolutely necessary for us to continue supporting you.

To our wonderful members - I know we've put you through a lot of changes lately, and we're doing so once again.  I know that its aggravating and a pain in the backside.  But if we are to survive and thrive, this is necessary.   Please bear with us as we try our best to make this a better and more user friendly place, and keep the vision and mission of Trans Pulse alive for our community.

I am also certainly sorry we are all having to go through these changes again.  Hopefully all of our members will continue to visit , post and be a part of a place where through many changes and years continues to provide help to trans* folks on their journeys.  I hope i'll see you on the other side.

Seriously though, this sounds like a great idea. phpBB is quite nice forum software and can be customised and configured in so many ways. Plus, from everything I've seen upgrades to newer versions tend to go a lot more smoothly.

I must admit that seeing my post count disappear would be a bit of a shock.  That certainly isn't the reason for me or any of us to be here.  We can help each other as no-one else can.  I hope i'll see you all and more on the other side of our move.  It may take an effort but i will certainly keep knocking at the door until i'm back in.

The post count may possibly be something that is sortable, but a lot of work for what is perhaps a minor issue? Everyone can look forward to a second childhood and being  a 'junior member' again
