Congrats.  Sounds like life is great.   Looking forward to your next post.

I'm very happy you and your wife are working through this.  As me and my wife are. For me the hardest part is to talk to her about all of this.

Do you have a hard time talking to your wife or has it gotten easier?

Ok the wife topic.

It seems the more in your face I am the more pushback I get

when I first found myself and accepted my journey I was over the top. As I have traveled this road my priorities have shifted. Being on  HRT has calmed me down a bit.I am less about me and more about letting my wife adjust to the new situation in her life .We definitely have our ups and downs ! All I can say is one day at a time, relax and communicate with your Wife gently.

All the best to everyone on their journey

Sharon I'm happy to hear you've calmed down and are thinking more of your wife's concerns.  As a married person, you are both going through transition although she did not choose to.  One day at a time is a good start!   I agree wholeheartedly about keeping the lines of communication open and clear.

My best to you both,

Jani

The road to acceptance began

First and foremost fear would be the word which Summarizes it all

Fear of loss

loss of family friends job all the things you think of loosing

Fear it’s not really you

It can’t be me it’s wrong in every way it has to be wrong it’s what we’re taught

I spent many months trying to disprove my feelings until I couldn’t find a reason not to accept who I really am and believe me I worked hard at it

Even after my personal acceptance there was fear of letting anyone know.I had such a hard time signing up here. If you read my story you will see the stars lined up I ended up at my Doc on HRT as the hormones took affect it Reaffirmed my choice 10 fold. I was not depressed or dysphoric I was just in need of being my true self.

SRS is not for me. Going out as myself is not for me I’m ok just being on HRT and self acceptance  As each day goes by I am more comfortable. I just take it one day at a time. My views are my own although some journeys I hear of Echo my own story. I don’t think anyone is to be judged as to how they should feel. We are all different. Well that’s my ramblings

I still do not know where this journey will take me . Like a vacation to a far away place it's going to take awhile to get there . It's just great to be on the road

Sharon you are on a journey that you do not know the destination of.  Smile and enjoy the trip.  It may take a short while or a lifetime.  Each day is a wonder.

Here I am at the one year mark on HRT still feeling great. I have had a lot of ups and a few downs along the way. This journey is not as forward as it was in the beginning. I’m still confident that I’m on the right path it’s just that the scenery along the way has become familiar. That’s not a bad thing. I am myself. I have found a lot of relief here throughout this past year listening to the Echos of my life through others I would like to Thank all in this community

Today I reflect on the choice I have made and understand a. Little bit more how someone else might not understand. That it’s that which drives us as humans. We are who we are never to be held down again. As I have traveled the path of transition I feel more at ease as each day goes by. Another day to affirm my choice !

It is indeed a beautiful journey regardless of our path.

I truly enjoyed reading this great thread and timeline.  There are so many parallels in your life to mine and it's comforting to know I'm not the only one in this similar situation.  Also, I understand the "take it one day at a time" philosophy in your journey.  I am so glad I found this thread and look forward to future updates.  Someday, when I feel up to it, I want to open up like you have here. Thank you for sharing, Sharon Aml.

 Self Acceptance

Feeling Held under the water almost to the point of drowning then bursting thru the surface frantically gasping for all the air you can get then finally calming down and breathing  I think I’m finally  breathing

That's some really powerful poetic imagery, Sharon.  This is the exact feeling I had when I finally gave up fighting myself on my lifelong gender issue.  That acceptance which happened over a year ago now has allowed me to really start living life as it was intended.

Warmest Regards,

Susan?

Sometimes we go on "vacations" and find we like it so much we decide to stay permanently!

We have seen the "real" Sharon and I'm happy you do too!

Well I passed the two year mark on HRT in June  The road has become familiar.

That familiarity translates to comfort. I find myself not even thinking about the road I’m on that often anymore . I guess that’s a good thing !

I think it is a very good thing Sharon.  It's funny though how when our gender issues fade into simply living our lives other issues seem to pop back up.  Life has it's ways of keeping us on our toes.  I try to practice accepting what comes as i often am unable to control it.

Hugs,

Charlize

Sharon I was wondering where you've been!   I totally agree that familiarity is a good thing and comfort is where its at!  Settling in to just living the life is all its about.  I'm glad to hear from you.

Cheers, Jani

Just really started reading this thread today and it is fascinating. Thank you for sharing @Sally Stone... I started shaving my legs (and chest and arms) about eight years ago when I was living apart from my wife. I decided then that there was no going back - I just love smooth skin and really hate hate hate body hair (I have quite a bit -- "Hey, nice sweater" people would say when I took my shirt OFF).   My wife is not thrilled but I think in time it just fades into the background and folks don't give it a second thought after the novelty of noticing it. And if they do harp on it, it's like why does it matter so much to you what my legs look like?  I am kind of here too -- I want to express myself more and more outwardly in a feminine way. But I don't hate everything about being a guy. I would probably go 100 percent female dress if society were more accepting of that (and family)...

I was stuck behind a truck for like 6 miles doing 30 in a 45mph zone and when I got the opportunity to pass it I took it. Sped up and passed it and then noticed the flashing lights behind me… I just got my first tickets (other than parking tickets) in the 26 years that I have been driving. The speed limit changed in that area and it was a long downhill grade so apparently I was going 60 in a 40 zone. I was so nervous that I was shaking. Speeding and no registration (it is fully registered and insured but I couldn’t find the registration card). It was still affirming though in that I used my license showing my name to be Lorelei and got “maam’ed” by the cop. He was very professional and told me to plead not guilty and that he would reduce the charges if I came to court. Hopefully he will reduce the ticket to something that doesn’t give points. He told me that I should have given him my PBA card (a friend of mine’s husband is a cop had given it to me) with my license, not after the ticket is already written. The registration ticket will go away once I provide proof that it is registered.  I already ordered the replacement registration from NYS DMV online. Unfortunately the registration is still registered to my deadname of Rory so I will have to bring that up to the judge unless I can get to DMV first to change it first. Overall, this morning sucked.

I hear you. My therapist moved to another job at the VA.  I liked her a lot and was very comfortable with her. Now I have an appointment with a new one, but not till June.  I asked for the first one to be in person.  I think I'll be able to see what she's like better that way.

Hi Mealaini (what a beautiful name),   I applaud this attitude; I think that is such a healthy way to look at your situation. I have an ex-wife (who also has a beautiful Gaelic name) and we are such great friends now, having broken up, that we both agree our relationship has never been so healthy. She has found a man she loves; I don’t know if they will last indefinitely but I like him and he likes me and there are no hard feelings between any of us.  Anyway welcome, and thank you for sharing your story. I have been thinking of trying EMDR myself so it’s good to hear a success story.

I was in the field artillery in the early 70's.  At times we had to hump ammo.  A projo weighed around 200lbs.  There were very few women, they seemed to be mostly in the medical roles.  I suppose if you were openly trans, you'd have been kicked out for being gay. But I suppose things are a lot different now.  There are more technical jobs for one thing.  One of my daughters was in the Air Force for a number of years.  Started as an "airman", and came out as a captain (nurse).

I was mostly seen wearing boy's clothes at the time, my parents didn't show me my birth certificate until later on in life, but until then I wasn't old enough to start going to school, and so I hanged out with the rest of the other kids in my neighborhood. My parents decided to keep me home under their observations, they thought I was going through a phase, they couldn't figure out why my feminine mannerisms was consistent. One day at my parents' home, something happened to me which resulted in a car ride to the hospital's emergency room. After getting checked out, my childhood treating doctors couldn't diagnosed what was going on with me? It resulted in me being misdiagnosed and a family car ride back home, this was just the beginning of what would be a series of car rides back to the emergency room. My parents stopped saying I was going through a phase, now something physically was going on with me. Things at home got to the point when I heard my parents questioned about the gender marker on my birth certificate. There's more to my story, but it resulted in the aftermath of a surgical scar, and disappearance of that surgical medical records of what happened to me.

Reading your post, I need to comment I have breast forms and sometimes get a chance to wear them to bed. But wearing my lingerie they always fall out so I wear a more full coverage bra to bed so they stay where they are meant to!

This would be a nice place to start by introducing myself to everyone, I already graduated from high school, and some college. I played the piano when I was younger, and I played in some bands. I used to take walks along the sandy beach, while collecting rocks and seashells along my way, I guess that would be the mermaid side of me.  I like fashion clothes shopping, and spending time with my close friends and family. I'm an online administrator from my own website in the community, and group facilitator in the lgbtqai+ community. It's nice to meet new friends here, and whatever help I can be I'm here for you.
