Posting a picture?

Hi to all 

As each day passes and I feel more comfortable with myself. I feel like I want to show myself to someone who understands my journey completely. I am not anywhere near coming out to anyone. My fear of being found out is terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. With that what is the general consensus on posting a picture on this site. Dangerous? Or  Safe ?

It's safe here, but I'm not the one to ask how to do it, I'm afraid. There are size requirments fot it to work. Be sure to read the forum guidelines on posting photo's before you try.

If this helps any i'll share this.  When i first went into the town where i live and grew up as myself no-one recognized me.  My guess would be that they wouldn't have recognized me looking at a small picture either. 

It is your decision but i haven't heard of anyone having difficulties because they posted a picture here.

I don't believe many of your friends and family would be coming here to look around!  Plus as Charlize notes, we change and wouldn't be recognized.

I hope this is still true @Dev, @MaryEllen, or PJ and Carolyn, but our picture galleries here in the past have been accessible ONLY TO MEMBERS and not to general snoopers looking for dirt on us.

I had to double-check to be sure, but Vicky has it right.  You have to be logged in as a forum member to even know our galleries exist.

You are certainly cute!  Simply posting here with a picture is as much as anything a big step towards self acceptance.

I know i felt a bit liberated simply opening up to others.  Enjoy.

I have found no issues, and as far as I am aware no-one in my homelife has seen any apart from my partner. I guess anyone can be unlucky, but that applies to everything we do. As with anything fairly open on the internet, treat it as accessible to all. That said - It would be very few people would recognise you and it would be extremely unlikely they would be in the small number who saw the photos.

 

It is only the avatar which is obvious to all. One thing that, probably as as artist, I often notice which many don't, is the background in a photo. That can often give more away than the subject itself. When people are see in the context of a scene they may easily be recognised but outside of context (or with no such clues) it is much harder.

Thank you so much I hope this warm and safe feeling that this place has given me stays with me for a long time. As a lot of us on this journey have had the opposite feelings for what would have been thought to be an eternity. The final acceptance By myself has been liberating. The comfort found here seeing I'm not alone is incredible
