Christmas / Holiday cards

My spousal unit and I addressed cards last night to send to family and a few friends.  Our list keeps getting shorter.   It seems we receive fewer and fewer cards each year as if it is an outdated habit.  

 

Depending upon what holiday you may or may not celebrate, do you send holiday cards?  Do you receive many?

Yes, and I've already given some out this season. I buy blank cards and write my own messages, composing words and writing with a pen is still meaningful to me. Yes we seem to receive less cards these days. I remember some 20 years ago, putting together a family "news letter" was very popular to send in a card.

I'm so glad someone mentioned this! I've been sending cards for years and mainly do it for my own enjoyment. No one thanks me for getting them   I love the process of picking them out - I buy a box - and writing messages, though I admit I'm always relieved when they're out of my home. I got 4 done today.

Cyndi, I think that is what this season is supposed to be all about.

We send them out every year and just put 85 in the mail today.  my wife made the card on the confuser and we sit together and address and prep them.  One thing that i've noticed is that i have to let her do her family especially if it is someone who doesn't know about my transition.  I still know it makes her feel awkward at times despite the years and that's ok with me.

I need to send some out. Patti always did it I managed to send almost a box last year. I went through the funeral list. Not sure what to do but I have gotten three so far so I had better at least make an effort. Have fun sending cards.

I wrote my cards yesterday for my side of the family. My partner does hers. The number is getting rather smaller as time goes on. I remember I used to put a short letter into a card from someone I met at college but seldom saw. We lost contact some years ago. The highlight these days is with our art group. We do a 'secret santa', creating a card for a member selected at random. I have been working on mine for a few weeks now. Hand painted with an old world feel and variation on the norm. Tomorrow is our Christmas meal when we exchange cards. I must remember to take a photo beforehand.
