It's girly sticker change out day for me today, it always makes me happy after knowing today is a fresh day... Today is also the first day I get to let the girl stickers live out in the open and not have to hide them under body tape since I recently came out to my wife! Can anyone else relate to feeling happy on girl sticker day?

squishy hugs,

Jae

I do!

I change mine on Saturday mornings and it never fails to brighten my day a little bit. I think it's because it's such a tangible reminder of how far I've come from the scared, in denial, self-protective person that I was for so many years. It's like a little gift to myself that I get every week. :D

Hi Sugar,

That's just how I feel too! I get to replace mine 2 times a week, I don't find it inconvenient at all but I might switch to injections later since my wife could help me with it... Very helpful to have a nurse for a wife, as long as she is comfortable helping me I would love to share my little happy routine.

Hugs,

Jae

I dig it but on the weekends it means a full shave because I don't trust the waterproof aspect of the patch and during the week it's just a quick shower.

i forgot a few times for about a half day and forget the Spiro from time to time as I did this morning.

Meditation and prayer are super important to me so on work days the HRT aspect gets forgotten amongst the other stuff.

The weekend is a big deal as the body shave takes up a bit of time and I also use that time for teeth strips as well.

Forgetting is not a big deal as the somehow the pharmacy companies seem to think that all the months have 28 days in them.

In short, I see it as self care or a form of self love but routine is not my strong suit.

I will be Miss Downer here, but on my skin they leave nice red welts that take several days to  go away when I take one off - or when it falls off after only a few days into my "week"  which my Endo covers by telling me one thing and the pharmacy another about how often to replace them.  (Every three days for me).  I was on oral /sublingual for 6.5 years which did the "reconstruction" very nicely for me by age 67 when I had a DVT and was on hiatus for 7 months and then I was put on the patches and vaginal cream.  The danged patches do itch like a case of poison ivy for me, but ------ Doctors' orders!!  My bones and other stuff are in good shape for my age and other organs as well.

Hi Vicky,

I am so sorry to hear that! I have read the 1 week patches have a higher instance of issues, I think it has something to do with the adhesive and long time frame causing a skin reaction... I use the 3.5 day estradot patches, and no problems thus far, they are just little flexible thin clear tape like things, and I have never had trouble keeping them stuck as long as I put them on and hour or so after a shower (although I do place them under the love handles, so there is some built in protection there). I luckily (or not) still have my old school titanium green field filter in place (the strong ones before they made them removable) so there is a little built in protection for me there as well, but some doctors say it's fine, some say it's bad, I think the jury is still out on that one.

Thanks Jae -- as a moderator here, I put some stuff up as a caution for you other girls as a way of saying that if it is less than perfect you are still doing fine and it is nothing wrong with you!!  I am very pleased with what the E in any way does to me and while I grumble a lot, it is harmless.  All of our bodies are different and we need to celebrate those differences.  I do have the patches that are a little heavier and about the size of two big postage stamps, and some of my skin issues are simply old age and dry skin from a condition I have had since I was born.

This thread reminded me to take the Spiro I forgot this morning

Ha! dang it me too! I was in a huge rush this morning (woke up late again) and forgot all about it! I was doing my normal day planning in the warehouse and remembered your cute little post this morning, just popped my AM spiro at the water cooler, dang it's cold in here today! I need to get all the machines rolling and heat the joint up before I freeze! Lots to do today, tons of orders lately at work, I'll be on my feet today but the work should help me warm up.

shiver - big squishy hug for warmth,

Jae

I totally get it, my skin is so dry and I'm itchy all the time now, the cold dry air really gets to me this time of year... I am looking forward to switching to inject-able when my insurance picks it up for me... My wife Bunny was a nurse, so I hope she will help me if I go that route, it would be nice to have her involved so directly like that.

Huge hugs,

Jae

Oh, I forgot to ask... Does anyone have a good recommendation for hand cream? My bear paws are so rough and torn up, I wish they were softer so my bunny wasn't scared of my occasional caress (she hates it if I rub the back of her sweater, my paws are so snaggy it messes up the nice sweater fabric). Lately I use Nivea for men hand lotion, but it only works a little bit...

Squishy hugs,

Jae

Honestly any good lotion will work, but you have to keep it on your hands.  This can be difficult as we work and clean our hands regularly.  For years we had a CVS brand lotion on the bathroom counter.  You can find small pocket size tubes of lotion at your drug store, think travel size.  After you wash up you can apply a quick dab and rub it in.  Consistency is the key!!!

BTW if you buy a large bottle with a pump you might be able to refill your pocket size tube, saving a little cash.

Gosh, I wish I could use lotion at work, but we aren’t allowed to have anything on us that could contaminate finished parts or leave fingerprints? I am trying to apply often at home and even refresh every time I wash my hands... I guess bear paws are bear paws, hafta wait for my bunny paws to grow in...?

squishy hugs,

Jae

I'm a big believer in moisturizer. It really works best if use regularly throughout the day. But if you can't use it at work, try using a really heavy application of lotion after work, then 2 or 3 normal applications fairly quickly after that.

The lotion I use is a generic brand, so it wouldn't help you much I'm afraid. It's comparable to Jorgens Ultra Healing, but the generic brand I use I think works much better. It's only sold in the Great Lakes region.

Regular use of moisturizer does work. I saw a video about a trans girl and saw how soft and feminine her hands looked and wanted desperately to have such soft smooth hands. I started out with really dry hands, and started moisturizing like crazy. One night I was looking at my hands and saw two soft, smooth, faminine hands. I started to cry from joy. It works! Good luck with your hands Jae Bear!

Lots of love,

Timber Wolf?

I am also doing my best to apply often and every chance I can... I think there is a small difference now, I guess 36 years of abuse take more than a few days to correct! :P

Jae

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!

I did get a sorry from the mechanic, saying it was all on him. The boss just said I just went by what I was shown. I didn't look at the paper work. I thought maybe you should before jumping down someones throat.   I am still in the market. Just waiting to find the right one.   Hugs, Kymmie

Thanks for your thoughtful reply @RaineOnYourParade.  I totally understand and agree with what you said.  I'm in no way proposing a law to decrease population.  It must be done on the demand side.  My role in this is simply to be highly visible and inspiring on many different levels and cultures from around the world.   We tend to focus on changing laws and that is addressing things on the supply side.  If we make a law to tax a type of business to try to steer the economy, we are changing the supply side.  People don't think of politics as a demand side thing, but our leaders should be inspiring us to change our behaviors.  Like the motto I was taught in the Navy "lead by example".  Although I could have tried to do this all with my music, I was not going to be successful with that.  It's reasonable to try to have a career as a highly visible politician to lead like this.   I never had any children that I know about.  I've had a pretty fabulous life.  Lots of ups and downs.  Lots of adventures.  Because I wasn't watching TV and I wasn't having children, I had to fill my time with something.  Although I am super ambitious with this political thing, all I really want to do is cook a nice curry dinner and have an intimate evening playing music for/with a partner and/or a friend or two.  And of course I enjoy cleaning the house and doing some writing, math and things.  I try to give back to society, but I'm not one of these people who just wants to serve.   It's very encouraging what the younger generation is doing in my opinion.  It's rough around the edges and I feel we could be more intentional about things.  Since population is declining, and I'm suggesting it to decline even more, we'll have this problem of there not being enough young people to take care of the old people.  I'm very strong on protecting our younger generation from having to babysit old people.  There simply aren't enough of them to do it like it is being done now.  I think this population reduction stuff is so important and this younger generation is just inheriting all these realities that I want to totally get them out of the business of taking care of older people.  The idea is to get medications mailed to them.  Make doctor visits very short and sweet.  Get old people staffing old folks homes.  I think we have a huge problem with mental health treatment in this country.  I think our economic realities from greater automation and income disparity have lead too many people to fall into despair.  We have to do something with our time and if we get rid of jobs with automation, and we stop making making housing (a decreasing population doesn't need more housing), then we still have to do something with our time.  I was successful at fighting addiction with relatively low carbon emitting work.  I make apps on the computer and record music in my living room.  I don't own a car.  I've been working part time from home for 12 years.  I actually work an excessive amount to do politics like this, but I have had periods of downtime.     Totally!  I think that humanity is just going to go in reverse here and these rural areas are going to be popular with younger people.  Set them up with some wind turbines.  Adjust to not having power 24/7.  Plenty of space to grow food.  Keep up the roads well enough to truck in some grains and other supplies.  As long as climate change doesn't cause some kind of environmental or insect problem, I think these rural places are going to be great.  I think we'll have to pick and choose which ones to continue supporting and which ones to abandon.  There are always details to work out.   I think in a world that is aging with declining population, people who are more unhealthy are going to be moving towards the cities and people who are healthier and middle age will move to the suburbs.  The suburbs are OK places as long as you are strong enough to get around by bicycle.  As someone who is 53 and physically fit, I groove on the idea of those big houses in the suburbs becoming house parties.  Perhaps I'm just dreaming though! LOL!   @awkward-yet-sweet is making some interesting points here.  My first wife did concrete work on the freeways in Chicago.  They do that up there because the extreme cold cracks the asphalt.  Those freeways are annoying with all the bumping between joints, but the roads last a long time.  But it takes a lot of industrial heat to make concrete.  Yes, humanity got along without the paved roads before and we can do it again.  We all inherited this world the way it is.  Sure, us older people contributed to it as well, but this whole industrialization/globalization thing has been going on a long time.  Perhaps we will avoid the horse and buggy thing and do a lot of mountain biking?

Hi, I'm . . . . let's go with initials for now. M.A. works. I've been out as genderfluid for about a year but finding I have more questions about my identity now than I did this time last year. I'm AFAB, in my mid forties, widowed parent with three teens (god help me!).   I have a new therapist as of two weeks ago, a decision I made with the help of my previous therapist and my new one specializes in LGBTQ+ needs so very well equipped to deal with my hot mess. We started screening for gender dysphoria this week and my response to almost every question she asked was "wait, that's not normal?" I don't live in a particularly sheltered bubble but somehow I seem to be much better at recognizing when my friends are struggling, than when I'm struggling myself.   I'm a freelance writer and graphic designer, and in my "free time" (lol, TWO of my offspring are theatre/band/choir kids, and the third is an aspiring screenwriter, y'all can imagine the sheer chaos easily) I write plays/musicals, and poetry.
