You will be fine. Have confidence and show that confidence. You do that and everyone will see you as you wish to be seen.

OMG we had so much fun! Ran into a little bit of an issue with some redneck boys but honestly I don't think a single one of them had a gf. Awesome time! My wife was an amazing support. I got called a lady which did tons for the self esteem.

Awesome...and you look great!  That's awesome that she's so supportive.   I remember that 1st time.  I was scared but felt determined.  As we moved about having fun I actually began to wonder and worry about her in terms of what others were thinking and the realization of just how wonderful and awesome she was just hit me.

Sorry if this is a little long!

So a little more details about last night. When we got to the bar they had a guy checking IDs at the door. My heart fluttered a minute but said to heck with it. As I handed it to him I simply said you're not going to believe this! He said he would not have guessed and was very nice. He told us to have a good time. We walked up to the bar and the bartender said what can I get you ladies? I mustered my best girl voice and asked for a vodka cranberry. He smiled and went on about his business.

We found a seat and kicked back talking. Our cocktail server came around and immediately smiled and said you guys are the Halloween couple! She remembered us from that night. Turns out she is a lesbian and out as well. She spent a lot of time at our table talking with us about transition. She said I'm doing fine and not to worry. Also told us about a couple of other trans women in town.

We stepped out for a smoke ( need to quit.) That's when things went a little south. There were some guys out there and I got clocked. They were never direct but started making comments about seeing a transgender woman at the bar and wondering if there were more at another bar across the street. Just rude.

I smiled politely but my wife wasn't having it. She said we should go in and finish our drinks. Inside she was ranting about wanting to tell them off. I told her the best thing we can do for our community is to ignore it and move on. But I have to admit it was amazing that she had my back like that!

Overall I think the night was a success. Did wonders for my self esteem and I can't wait to get out again!

Hugs,

Jenny

I love it when my wife gets all "T-Rex" about defending me.  I'd do the same for her obviously but it melts my heart  nonetheless.

WOW! I am so jelly of you and your wife right now! I keep hinting at my wife for us to do each others nails, I think we might tonight or tomorrow night after the kid goes to sleep... You are such a cutie, it's really great you two went out for drinks and had fun, those red necks may not be quite what they seem, I was one myself, but I would have just been super curious about transition details. I hid behind a beard and my F250 for fear of getting accused of anything remotely truthful, I wish I could go back and kick myself in the butt for waiting so long! Your wife sounds amazing, she was going to go to battle for her bestie! My wife is my favorite super hero, I call her Super Bunny! She is quite legitimately superhuman, her lower body strength is off the scale, easily matching pro body builder levels. I've never understood why but I've seen her lift huge, nearly 200 pound containers and toss them like a sack of cat food! Back when I was fit, racing motorcycles and weighed 197 pounds I couldn't even get them an inch off the ground! Then again, my Bunny's from Texas, she aint little by any means, and has a grip like a hydraulic press... God I love her so much!

Big Squishy Hug!

Lol. You crack me up Jae! I hid for a long time too. Trying to convince myself I was CIS. The truth is I still love doing a lot of the same things I used to. Just kills me to tear up my manicure turning wrenches! Lol. JK

HA! I love that!  I spent a good part of my day today underneath a CNC machine and got all greasy and I’m worried about getting the grime out from under my nails as I really want to have my wife paint them tonight!

squishy hugs,

Oh, and why is it you can never find the exact size Allen wrench no matter how many of them you have, I swear I had 200 of them out in the tray and not one of them would fit the specific metric size Allen that I needed and of course the one I had was too long to fit in the space and the ratchet I had wasn’t exactly right or the one that kind of fit had a rounded tip... Aaarrrgggh!!! Curse you Mr. Allen!

Squishy hugs!

Jenny congrats on going out with your wife I have been out to my wife for 3 years and it is only recently that she will go out with me you are lucky to have such a supportive spouse . I also ruin my nails at work every day as a mechanic you can' keep your polish intact for long on the upside I am getting much better at doing them

Jai  the allan wrench you need is usually under the drawer liner or some other silly place they are a conspiracy

I gave up working on my cars long ago, so now I don't have to worry about getting grease under my nails or ruining my polish. I am sitting here really enjoying the three of you discussing losing tools. I used to lose mine as well, only to find them a couple days later.

I'm glad you had a good time with your wife.

Hugs,

Brandi

Ohhh... I think I got a cramp laughing at those responses! I threw out all the tool mats for that very reason! I know from experience that 10mm bolts are the single most common size found on any 80’s or 90’s Japanese sport bike and that all the good 10mm sockets and extended length 10mm box wrenches are deep in the floor wells of all racing trailers, vans or RV’s... Forever lost to any human that could benefit from their use!

tears from laughing!

I've always had a problem trying to find the wrench I was using. You know that one that slipped one to many times so you throw it in frustration. It's such a problem for me.

I don't know yet. I'm sure there is going to be a big crowd. I also would have to keep up with the kids and probably won't enjoy myself mostly.

I can understand that. My Keurig is used for hot water mostly and when my mom comes. I mostly use a regular coffee maker. I have had that for 5 years now. I had a Bunn but it didn't last long. I also have a French press and rarely use that. I would love to get a cappuccino maker but that is for later on. Starbucks is getting expensive. My kids favorite thing there is the cake pops. I found out that Walmart Neighborhood Market has them. Typical me getting off topic. lol

Well, welcome M.A. Several of my now grown kids were involved in theater in school.  And one is now a graphic designer.

Wow what a busy day today.  Clearly the summer crowd is coming into town.  Doesn’t hurt that we have a PGA event here.  It is limited to 100 players. But the spectators is where the crowd is.   i alone more than doubled my usual sales.     we keep hearing thunderstorms however they are staying just west of us for now. The storms in western Tennessee right now are supposed to be here in the morning.

Edit: Latest album is called "Drumless". My bad. The name of their tour is Drummer.

My gen z cousin & her gf were visiting the last few days. We are a very, very small contingent of queer members of our family & we stick together. She and her gf introduced me to G Flip. They recently attended a concert and said it was the best concert ever. They were playing G Flip in the car and I was impressed by the vocals, the lyrics, the influences, and the percussion (G is also a drummer). I love a nonbinary vocalist (not that we get to hear so many...yet...) because the freedom from gender performance shines forth. I could hear influences from many styles of music I loved in the 90s, but all blended together in a joyfully percussive way. G Flip is rad! I would post a link to some tracks or an album, but there are explicit lyrics which would go against community rules - you can easily search youtube yourself if you're interested; their latest album is called "Drummer". But here is a picture of G who is serving us gorgeous nonbinary vintage Axl Rose!

Welcome, @MAN8791. I relate to this so much. I'm roughly the same age as you, afab & nonbinary. For decades, I beat myself up for being a "broken" girl/woman. And I tried my darndest for many of those years to perform woman successfully. While outwardly I may have seemed "a success", inwardly the effort and dysphoria caused me so much anxiety, panic, and depression that it eventually became unsustainable. For me, the first step was letting go of identifying as "broken". Next, I allowed myself to be however I am. And very rapidly I felt better - in fact, initially I felt ecstatic. The door was open for me to really learn about self-love and therefore love itself.

Well, the counter space in the kitchenette is pretty Limited. But also cost, and usefulness. I guess she is mostly right, and it isn't really important.

Wasn't sure whether to post this in the "uplifting news" or "news" forum. This bill is pro-LGBTQ+, albeit 30 some odd years too late with 100s of thousands of lives lost throughout the AIDS crisis. The upshot is that ol' Ron has actually done some good for the community. That's really...something...although I doubt he sees it that way. And most importantly, greater access to screening and care will save many lives.   https://ncpa.org/newsroom/qam/2024/05/01/floridas-governor-signs-bill-expand-hiv-care

Both of my parents were raised in WASP-ish families. What was or wasn't appropriate, with an emphasise on superficial appropriateness (conformity) was verbally beaten into me the second I hit puberty.   Which is really sad as I think back, and was bewildering at the time. I remember being really free to be expressive how I wanted to and then once I started puberty, all of that freedom disappeared and I didn't understand, at all.

I'm doing "beans and rice" for dinner tonight, but it's Punjabi style red bean curry and saffron rice, and I always have an appetizer tray of cut vegetables and dip (seasoned yogurt to go with the theme) on the table.  Might grab a package of naan from the store on the way home, or just make a pan of very american biscuits to go with.

I'm volunteering both days of our Pride Festival (signing other volunteers in, lol).    Taking my two younger kids (oldest is way too cool for school, lol) to a family friendly pride festival, and then turning them loose at the city wide event while I listen to music. They're old enough to experiment with independence and the festival is in a controlled enough space they can feel like they're getting away from me without being *that* far away. My middle is newly out as LGBTQ+ and has been practicing their makeup look for a couple weeks already (age 14) <3
