Approved for top surgery

I just scheduled my top surgery! My insurance approved it and I should be all set. My surgeon is Dr. Scott Mosser in SF and I'll be getting peri-areolar surgery. Dr. Mosser seems kind and competent and he gets great results.

I'm incredibly excited and so ready to never look at another binder for the rest of my life but I'm also feeling really anxious. Medical procedures have always terrified me and I nearly pass out at blood draws. I'm nervous about having decided on peri vs. double incision. It's scary that there's no way to know what my chest will look like until after everything is done. I had a nightmare the other night about going in for surgery and seeing that the facility was filthy, then having post-op complications. Can you tell I'm an anxious person by nature?

Does anybody have words of encouragement, positive stories, or pre-op advice to share? I just got off the phone with the scheduler and I'm shaking!

This is awesome! Dont worry about the doctor, if hes has such great results so far you have nothing to fear. Just think of it like getting rid of two large evil lumps. Its allright to not know what will be the end result, at least it happened! And if you get scars dont worry they fade! Theres no point in baseing your future in dreams. Its going to be great, and you shouldnt worry. Your not the only person whos been scared of such things  and gotten over it with the best types of results!

Congratulations, this is wonderful news.   Thats great that insurance will cover it.  You will be so happy with the results.  Its normal to be anxious about something as serious as surgery.  But have faith in your doctor's experience and care for his patients.  I recall when an acquaintance had top surgery.  I saw him a few days later at a meeting.  He was a bit sore but relayed how he had played golf two days after the procedure.  This guy is an avid golfer but I have to believe pain was very manageable.   You'll be fine.

That is fantastic news! I understand being nervous... I have been through many emergency life saving surgeries, so I have a near phobia of surgery, but I will be getting top surgery someday myself and I am actively scheduling an orchiectomy to remove two "small evil lumps" as Chris mentioned (hilarious!:D)... Trust me, any carefully planned surgery is one million times better that the very best non-planned surgery, and I am still here in mostly one piece, I fully expect everything to go smoothly for you, and while it will take a while to heal I bet you will be very happy with the results! You and your doctor made some very careful decisions about your surgery methods and results, I am sure they were the very best decisions for you personally and I feel confident your results will make you very pleased! I wish you good luck and quick pain free healing (if there is such a thing) and wonderful results that make you smile!

Big long hug,

Jae
