A couple of days post opp

I guess its time to post a little after my recent orch.

It happened on Thursday and it is Saturday morning.

Speaking candidly I would say I am more concerned with having a BM then anything else and have done what is necessary to arrive at that place.

The suggestions I received from some friends on the forum really helped and considering it is day three I feel pretty good.

I will not address the pain killers too much other to say that I want to drive today so the serious ones are out for now.

The experience was one of waiting and wonder and I will always remember looking out the window of the recovery room after I had dressed and was waiting for my ride home.

The view is of the commercial loading area for the hospital and the medical library and one I was quite familiar with both as a student and as a courier.

UBC was my zone for a while so I pretty much know my way around the hospital and my mother had spent 2 months in an annex there before being moved to a care home.

I later had also attended many AA meetings at the mood disorders clinic that is joined to it while mother was in the care home.

You get the picture that this place is like an old friend to me so it was quite nice to have this event happen there.

An orch is somewhat anti climatic as there is some swelling from the severed chords in the scrotum so it looks and feels like the boys are still there.

I was told this prior by my surgeon and he was spot on.

I should get to cleaning and hopefully get out for a drive albeit a short one.

I will say the reason I am avoiding the BTC meds is I want to have a good BM and it knocked my singing voice out of whack a bit.

In short I did not like the feeling other than for just the first night.

Much Love to Everyone

For us, it is something to say Congratulations about for sure.  It is a step on the path that you personally needed to take and now have taken.  The meds do tend to clog up the system, and it did take me a few days to open up from top to bottom, so I know that waiting and the coming relief.

Congrats Rachel, and heal well dear :)

Perhaps you can look forward to an adjustment with your HRT. Perhaps no more T blockers needed.

No more blockers is great but I have pile of them left so i will take them to the pharmacy for disposal once I know there is no withdrawal from them.

The surgery spot came out of the blue as someone cancelled and I was able to take it.

I was looking at the end of summer and they phoned me on Tuesday!

It was that fast!!!

Thank you all for getting me to this place.:D

I started telling my story here years ago and listening to others and I am on the other side of my fears!

For those struggling with alcohol and other issues AA was key but I first started sharing here.

That's great! Hope your recovery is straightforward and fast.

I went for dinner with a trans woman friend of mine last night.

We walked there and I walked home afterwards.

Mostly we mostly talked spirituality along with the usual tran issues and concerns and it seems we have more in common than I thought in the spirituality dept. I do not read a lot but I had read and was familiar with some or most of the concepts she was engaged in and exploring.

When I mentioned the book Learned Optimism she lit up as she knew the writer and was already exploring that path.

I am hopefully done with the laxatives and am back on track in that dept but I think I should just cut it back to half.

I am big on medicinal eating and my recanting of nutritional facts could drive anyone crazy but I am sitting down to a bowl of Butternut Squash soup with some hi iron stuff in it like wild rice and fenugreek.

No busking today as my surgeon is my higher power for the next week and the information sheets on after care are my bible.

I will leave the meds out of this thread as everyone has their own path and needs.

I have always had a weak stomach and if you have read my threads on my issues with spiro you will get the picture.

I will be taking back the left over spiro for disposal at the pharmacy when I know I am ready.

Cheers

Rachel Gia

XO to you all and stay safe!

I'm glad you are following your Dr's instructions.  I know i was scrupulous in doing that as well and it most likely made healing easier.  We are vegetarians so i just ate a good bit of lentil soup after my orchi and had no issues with needing a laxative.  The opiates can make that worse but like you i did my best to avoid them anyway.  The swelling will go down fairly quickly especially if you take it easy for a bit.  My biggest issue was an immense amount of bruising because of the blood thinners my cardiac condition demands.  The other one that got me was the itching as healing took place and hair grew back.  It could have been embarrassing at times if i'd been in public but my goats didn't seem to be upset with my scratching down there.

This is a huge step Rachael.  I know i had doubts and fears after the procedure.  Perhaps that's normal.  If you need to chat please contact me.

Hugs,

Charlize

Good Morning!

The rains have stopped and we have a great day ahead on the coast.

Its been 4 weeks since my surgery and other than lifting and carrying a box I shouldn't have, the recovery is  good.

So nice to have trans life be a bit simpler with no spiro and no food clashes with it, however it seems like an old friend as it got me here and showed me life without T is doable .

I should get going as I have the Fraser Valley run today which should be glorious.

I dig being post opp after being non opp for so long but probably for the piece of mind and calmness I have been given. I will continue with the process of approval for cosmetic plasty but this is good and I am happy.

I am still waiting for the penny to drop regarding my history with mild depression but so far there has been only weather related melancholy and some food stuff where my sugar spikes and I get anxious but that is normal and I can deal with that.

Ciao For Now!

Great news Rachel and now you can look to the future.   Hopefully the weather will be nicer.  I've gotten so tired of winter. It's been unrelenting.  Bring on Spring.

Have a good drive today.

Nice update Rachel,

It's finally a beautiful day in the PNW, just little to your south, we have glorious sunshine this morning and might be in the mid 60's (19c) by afternoon.

Enjoy
