Brynn Tannehill is a personal acquaintance of mine who is an avid activist for Trans people in everyday life.  This is her Transgender Day Of Visibility column from the Huffington Post this year.  She makes some very valid points that I try to live in my own life.

I enjoyed reading this too. Even though it cites so many losses, I live for the day when our government changes hands and sanity, mutual respect, and genuine caring for other human beings takes hold again.

Thanks Vicky!

I liked the intent of the article which seems to be about trans people becoming more of a visible minority and this is possible from some of us and difficult for others. My coming out at work educates my fellow workmates that I am who I am and me being trans has little or no bearing on how well I do my job but I work in the transport industry and all they care about is somebody doing the job.

Some people don't have this luxury as seen by school policy interventions by parents, and outside overly concerned parties.

Donald Trump has put the wind in a lot of sails but from what I can see he has only been effective at wasting a lot of tax payers money on non constructive pet projects like the Trans Military ban. In fact , that will be his legacy, a lot of dumb ideas that are fueled by unreasonable hatred.

Conservatives will always be conservatives and to my mind the key characteristic of the right wingers is the belief that they harbor correct thought and their inherent inability to change their beliefs. Most of this intolerance comes from bible belt states and the misuse of historic spiritual literature and doctrine.

A cohesive trans presence requires us to embrace the many faces, bodies, and minds that are part of our demographic and not to repeat the same mistakes that arose when the trans community was not part of the gay community.

In other words , at this time it is an inside job but more so for us who are over 30 since from what I have seen and experienced being trans, non binary, gender queer, gender punk, or just plain undecided is part of a millennials day to day experience.

Trans is Trans and we all look different and we are different.
