Trump loses military ban again

This is a great ruling.  Quite positive for us and certainly gives Trump a rather well deserved slap.

While i don't like discrimination i do wish we didn't have to be seen as a class that needs protection.  Unfortunately lately we do.  Hopefully that will change over time.

This certainly is good news. But unfortunately I wish we could be considered a protected class on a broader stage than just the military. When in more states than not we can be openly discriminated against, it leaves so many of us trapped hiding in the shadows. 

 

I can not transition at work. Based on what happened to another with my employer, if I came out as transgender to them, I would be told under no uncertain terms that if I ever tried to alter my appearance genderwise I'll be fired. If it ever gets to where I can't stand changing for work anymore, I'll have to change jobs. Lots of difficulties their for health and age reasons. Besides, I do like my job and can at least be partly dressed as myself at work on the sly.

You're so right, Timber Wolf. And even in states like California, where I live, protections are under attack by "family values" groups and others. 

Still, we're light years ahead of what I remember as a a kid

Timber Wolf, by applying strict scrutiny to the ban, this judge absolutely sets up the possibility of applying that level of protection to transgender people in other contexts as well. It remains to be seen whether strict scrutiny will be upheld by the 9th Circuit and SCOTUS, but it's a good step.

Yes Ravin I was thinking this ruling would set some precedent for future cases.  Hopefully in our favor.
