Is there any advice anyone want to give me? What to eat, wear, do, preventing scars? Information is all over the place and would greatly be appreciated.

I'm terrified so much that I'm crying.

I really hope I don't wussy out before the surgery...

Wish me luck...

Welcome to Trans Pulse Queenie.

I'm certainly not surprised that you are terrified.  Surgery is always difficult.  I know i've felt very scared before open heart surgery. as well as many other procedures revolving around my heart issues.  When i went for confirmation surgery i was fearful as well.  After all we are giving up control of our lives and bodies to someone else.  Gender issues also come running in with GCS which makes things even more difficult.  Hopefully you have had the help of a gender therapist.  I was unsure but also certain of my path went i went for surgery.  An odd combination but i think worry is natural given my upbringing and the noise i hear from society.

I looked up Dr.Saterwhite.  His education and credentials look excellent and the group appears to be totally above board.

Try to take a deep breath and then remember to breath out.

We are here to help as we can and hopefully one of our members who has experience with your doctor will check in.

As to the other questions just wear comfortable loose fitting clothes.  I would ask the practice about any additional details as to food intake or other prep.

 Best of luck.

Hugs,

Charlize

Queenie please try to relax and enjoy the moment.  I know I was fairly calm before my surgery.  You certainly can contact the doctors staff as far as too what to bring for recovery time.

For me I stayed in nightgowns and sleep pants so I didn't need a lot of clothing.  I did not have any scarring issues to worry about.  Your appetite might not be as normal so make sure you eat regularly to help regain strength and keep the healing process on track.  Above all follow your doctors instructions and let him know of any issues that deviate from what you're told.  Best of luck.
