Macho hipster glasses! >:(

I usually wear contact lenses, but in the evening or off-days when I wear my eye glasses, I get so irritated by them! I picked them out during the peak of my trying-to-butch-it-up phase, and they were great for that! Really helped square up my face. Ugh.

Soooooomeday I’ll have loads of extra money and I can buy some nice new frames to go with my nice new feminine presentation, but until then...

I go extra big on eye makeup when I have to wear my glasses out in public, but it doesn’t read. Does anyone have any ideas?

Its hard to counteract a large frame.  I found when looking for new frames recently that the shape really makes a difference in my appearance.  You are right to balance them with application of makeup.  Maybe a brighter shade of lip color?

If your prescription isn't too old, have you tried Zenni Optical, an online service?  My sister gets her glasses there and they are inexpensive.  They do single and bi-focal but not tri-focal (progressives).

I got by for many years with dual gender "Classic Style" frames that were actually the cheapest ones in the optician's store.  If you are ready for a scheduled two year optometry exam, consider that option.  CVS and Walgreen"s drug stores also have non prescription reading glasses (cheaters) that are affordable in women's styles that some Trans girls have found usable to at least read a menu in a restaurant.  Trying to compensate for bad frames with eye make-up is one of those things that draws attention to them rather than the other from my experience.   This was me with Classic Frames:  gallery_14243_1207_8772.jpg

I second the Zenni Optical suggestion! I get my glasses there are they are cheap enough to order a few pairs. They also come in cute colors and styles.
