There's an app for that

Monday morning I wake up and, having taken a day off just to catch my breath a bit, decide I want to get dressed up. I'm mostly home, except for the appointment I've got with a new therapist I wanted to go meet, so no reason not to. 

 

I pick up my phone and enter the makeup filter app I downloaded and start playing around. It let's you overlay makeup and make some small changes to your appearance in real time, I downloaded it so I could find looks I'd like to try out so I was looking for inspiration. 

 

After I found a look that made me go "oh my gosh I'm sort of pretty", I am motivated to begin. Nearly an hour later and I look in the mirror and decide its not quite right but it's not bad, so I take a selfie. Now I know girls generally say it takes them years to learn how to do makeup, but I've perfected the art of drawing stick figures in exams during my high school years many moons ago and figured it'd be a breeze. That photo made me take all of it off and spend the rest of the day disgruntled in guy mode with smudges of recently removed makeup still plastered to my face. Freak show of note I'd wager. 

 

There's an app for everything, specifically disappointing yourself with your ability to mimic unrealistic beauty standards you set for yourself apparently. Oh well, back to the drawing board for more practice I suppose.

YouTube Wayne Goss. His videos brought my makeup game up to par within a few short videos. 

 

Before spending a bit of time researching application processes I was a mess. Luckily I had no idea! Lol

 

There are still times when I finish the final strokes, take a selfie, cry, erase, cry some more and restart but practice makes perfect and every failed attempt is a lesson in not failing. Don't give up hun, you'll get there!

I do wonder though, I'm helpless with hair and makeup and nails and even choosing well coordinated outfits at this point. Any YouTube recommendations for, well, everything? ? Maybe hypnosis to stop having stupid hands... 

 

Sometimes I like what I see when I dress up, even without makeup, it feels sort of right somehow. But then there are times when I just feel that if it's not perfect I feel completely fake and gross. It's off putting. Luckily not many tears, just moping and comfort eating.
