Luck at the... I'm going to guess endocrinologist @ShawnaLeigh!

No it is my initial appoint with a trans friendly doctor to discuss starting the process.  I am hoping that since I was on HRT on and off for a few years this is going to be a consideration as will the recommendation from my therapist to be back on them asap.  I am at least hoping for some blood work to make sure I am healthy and "ok" from my self med HRT stupidity.

Hopefully being off them for 5 weeks now will give me a good base line for them to work from.

From what my endocrinologist told me, it takes two months  ... about eight weeks ... for hormone levels to settle in after a change. I don't know how well your doctors communicate, but I had to get blood work at my endocrinologist office plus another wait while she worked out if it was safe for me to start HRT. That's not meant to be discouraging. Endocrinologists are skittish and it might take a few more weeks to get back on girl juice. Best of luck though!

Try observing guys closely (but discretely) as they meet, or pass thru each other's space. You'll see a very slight nod, or head tilt sometimes with a facial expression meant to signal "I see you, I greet you, I mean you no harm".

Sometimes there is grunting. There's an entire grunting language between cis-men. It's an advanced technique though, so ease into it. Observation is key.

Wish I was kidding here... and I  kind of half am, but the grunt could become an important part of your eventual presentation. There's a whole grunting subtext between friends. It's kind of wild.

I think of that noise as "mmmmm" or "hmmff".

It must go back a ways in our history, to pre-language communication.

From coffee to grunt noises. Okay.

My coffee is well done, I'm working on 2 drawings this morning, then have to stop, put on regular clothes to go out shopping. In the studio I tend to wear panties and a t-shirt (or if it's chilly, leggings and sweatshirt, which is what suits me at the moment). No way I'd go out in small-town Arkansas in this outfit!

Needless to say, I wish you good luck with the doc.

So I’m not sure how I managed this but she put me on HRT today.  We had a long talk about everything from childhood on up.  About my surgeries and all the follow up blood work I’ve had recently.  Had blood work drawn there too with a “no call back is good news” sort of plan. I explained in detail about my HRT stupidity as well.  Dosages time frames.  How I increment the dosage size slowly.  Just everything.  She felt comfortable with my experience and knowledge of it.

I literally just got home from my pharmacist with my new HRT meds.

im so excited!!!!!

Congratulations! I felt the same way. They gave me patches first and only my tiny font seat kept me from slapping the first one on before I got out of the parking lot.

Also congrats on having a doctor that knows how to do HRT. I needed a specialist, though we did have a talk about, "Would it be OK if you just went through your doctor if your doctor knew what he was doing?" Honestly it would just be nice not to have to drive to Ann Arbor to see my endo. I love her, but my car isn't getting any younger.

In any case, that's fantastic news! Follow all the directions, be a good girl and be safe.

Hugs!

Well, tea is keeping me warm right now. I got a lot accomplished, even managed to scrape enough rent together for one more week. It’s a hollow victory though unless I can get back to work soon. Perhaps the one silver lining is that I ran into the maintenance supervisor for the apartments and he said he would look into a few job leads. So he at least knows about it. So now if I wait a little longer and play my cards right I can actually be working so admitting that I might be short on rent next week won’t look like I’m hiding anything. This telecommunications job I applied for is kind of interesting. Maybe not the fact that it’s a call center but the whole application process itself. I had to take an online assessment today. So as soon as I got done paying rent and talking to maintenance and finishing a couple of errands, I went to the library to use their WiFi and my laptop instead of my phone. It took 30 minutes to open a page. At first I thought it was the time setting, but it was not the case. Eventually after a long slow process if page loading boredom I finished the assessment just under the wire. But here’s what really makes it interesting. Instead of the results staying a total mystery, they actually sent me a copy of the 8 page results that they use to decide if they want to hire you! That’s a refreshing change. It listed my attributes, strengths, room for improvement, and exactly the kind of job best suited for my personality! That’s something I can print out and use for future employment! All I have to do is paraphrase it into a cover letter for a resume and that will probably make me more desirable. Especially for jobs that seem to be out of my reach. So I’m feeling much better today than yesterday.

After trying to get the WiFi signal I was looking for and failing, I decided to cut my library visit short. I was trying to do a video interview but I’m going to wait for tomorrow. There’s a better library on the south end of town and they have study rooms so I can do the recording there and finish it a lot easier. And I won’t get dropped in the middle of filling out my other applications.

Monday morning I’m supposed to return to the temp agency nearby and take the urinalysis that they forgot to get. That’s why I didn’t have any assignments from them. The other place is not going to put me to work anymore. I’m certain of that. But I say good riddance.

I’m happy that @ShawnaLeigh got her HRT! Good for you! It’s encouraging news. ?

Sounds like the evening coffee/tea break has good news for folks. Congratulations ShawnaLeigh and Josie Beth!

I've been in kind of a funk the past couple of days after a weird blow-up with my SO.

But I spent most of today at the drawing board, finished one drawing, working on another. At least that part of my life still works!

Evening coffee, about to put a log into the fireplace. I love the fireplace, other than warming up the family room, it lets off a comforting glow. A fire makes the home complete.

I miss having a fireplace, but not having to clean it.

I’m glad that fire pits are a thing.

I would love to have a fireplace. But alas I don't. Maybe when I move if I don't get one I'll get a fire pit.

Omg Yes!  I so miss having a fireplace in Vermont.  I do have an outside fire pit but it’s not so comfortable with snowy and blowy weather. But it’s nice in cool weather with coffee or marshmallows.

Shawna,  That should be coffee AND marshmallows.

Up early for my opening shift. Watched the border war last night. While I'm not a football fan what so ever, actually hate it. I do watch our home team the Wyoming Cowboys. Especially the border war against Colorado State. And for the fourth year in a row we kept the bronze boot. (The traveling trophy)

Have a great Saturday, everyone.

Hugs,

Good morning! I got coffee going, but since there's all this holiday marketing going on, I added eggnog (non alcoholic) to the basket, so it's coffee with a splash of eggnog instead of cream. Kinda nice.

I wish everyone a wonderful day. I'm so thankful to feel accepted among all you awesome people of every age. Thank you all!

Coffee is gone.  Long drive to work.  I had time to practice with my voice app on the way.  I am still having a hard time hearing myself with road noise and such.  I think it is coming along.

I have my first Doctors appointment later today to hopefully start HRT process.

Hoping things go well.

Have a great day!

How was your doctor appointment?  Did you get the green light to start HRT?

Good Saturday morning everyone, cool and crisp here this morning fired up the gas fireplace, logs never need replacing and no ashes to clean out and heats the entire living room very nicely.

So many advantages to a gas fireplace, but I like the smell of real fire.

I'm glad you can enjoy it!

Did those for years until the population density made it apparant that it was unfair to neighbors with upper respiratory problems to burn even seasoned wood.

Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!

WOW @Ashley0616 it’s good that you have skills to treat traumatic injuries, as well as the ability to remain calm while managing others needs to get yourself and the boys ready to go to the hospital. Proud mama bear skills. I’m glad that he’s doing well.    Meanwhile back at the ranch, we slept in and I’m just now finishing my 3rd cup of coffee.    Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well yesterday was not fun. I was getting ready to make dinner and I hear screaming and crying. I look over and my son put his foot through glass. He gashed near his Achilles tendon. Thankfully that is intact. I didn't freeze for a second. All of my military training came into play. I doctored him up and got Jett ready and myself and we headed to the ER. He is doing ok today. He says he is in pain but doesn't need Tylenol. He is a tough cookie!

Hi,   It's seems today is my trans birthday.  I'm beyond excited. Just picked up my testogel from the pharmacy. Although I naturally have doubts as I'm sure do we all, they are rapidly disappearing. Yesterday I was so nervous I kept claiming I'm not trans, despite grinning like a fool knowing I can pick up my prescription the next day. I'm shaking and on the verge of happy tears. I will put on my first sachet this eve. Thanks so much to this forum and kind words from people. This is the first forum I found when I began seriously questioning.

While the Soviet Union did not end up being the source of all evil, I believe that history has shown that Joe McCarthy generally was right. There ARE all kinds of Marxists slithering around. And if that had been dealt with firmly 75 years ago (or more) the nation wouldn't be in the shape that it's in now.    And while I generally oppose the idea of intervening in foreign affairs, the world probably would have been better off if we had taken care of issues in Russia and defeated the Bolshevik Menace back in 1919. God bless the memory of Admiral Kolchak.   Getting back to project 2025, my belief is that Republican efforts are inappropriately focused on trans folks. A minority of a minority does not wreck a nation. But it is easier to focus on trans folks because they can look like they're doing something. They don't have to address the real problems, and really they don't want to address them because they would have to address themselves.  They would also need to admit that the 50 State version of the USA cannot be saved.
