Sorry to read of all non those events Justine.  Sometimes the world seems to turn on us.  One of the "good" things i've found is covered in the expression; "This too will pass".   I know that as an alcoholic that drinking never helped.  For me it just made things worse.  I have been told to look at what i am grateful for.  That seems to help more than any drink ever did.

Hugs,

Good morning everyone,

The coffee is HOT, black, and strong. :coffee:

I injured my lower back last week, and was self medicating, stretching to work things back into place. Well yesterday morning I slipped in the shower and caught myself before hitting the floor. The problem with that is I re-injured my lower back even worse 8 out of 10 pain scale. This lead me to a trip to Urgent Care for professional care, and a cocktail of pain meds. They didn't seem to touch the pain up to bedtime when I took my second dose. Sleep was restless, and full of weird dreams. This morning I physically rolled out of bed, with pain at a 5. Third dose of meds, and I'm at my home office with a manageable pain level at a 2.5.

I do believe in better living through chemistry.

Mindy??️‍⚧️?

Hope you heal quickly. I go to a chiropractor, have for almost 50 yrs. They have saved me form a great deal of pain. It's hard to find one that is really good. I got lucky. Been to some of the best. 2 have passed on and my current one wants to retire. If you go to one, try to find one who is up to date on all the energy work, like the B.E.S.T. system, and laser light system, etc.

Crainialsacral and Reiki therapies are good also. My wife does both plus a bunch more. She was a Japanese Okasaki Massage Therapist. I'm lucky to have her.

I'v been bat -crap- crazy getting ready to move into my apartment in 2 weeks. Besides all the packing, having to essentially start over with all the little possessions you amass for living has had me overwhelmed.  I think I have the kitchen figured out. My sister is a big time Pampered Chef person so had a closet full of free kitchenware to help me restart from.  Did the Ikea run as well.  When I first realized I would be moving out post separation I was worried about the big things I had to get like a bed. But just getting all the little things you don't think about that you use every day is fu#*ing expensive. The next big shopping day is stocking up a pantry from nothing. That is not going to be a cheap grocery store run :(. Since I'm going to be on my own for the first time in about 30 years I've decide to really get back into cooking so I want my kitchen and pantry ready to go when I move in.  I've already scheduled a dinner party for 5 days after my move to force me to get everything done and organized.

I'm sure it sucks starting over. Well, you have the chance to make even more good memories now. Hope it goes well for you.

QAnon Supporters Wait for Return of John Kennedy Jr in Downtown Dallas

https://www.yahoo.com/news/qanon-supporters-wait-return-john-195220791.html

A woman in our LGBTQ zoom group today mentioned the group of folks who are now gathered at Dealey Plaza where JFK was assassinated. They’re expecting that JFK, Jr. will appear, coming back from the dead, and re-incarnating for them to celebrate.

“A bit crazy to expect that,” she said.

Another woman said: “But how will they know it’s him? Being dead can really change how someone looks.”

And I said: “And what if JFK, Jr. has transitioned into a super feminine woman? How WILL they recognize her?”

Such a disappointment.

My wife said the exact same thing.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes.

Im doing a little better today, one of my supervisors is trying to fight and get me back on my old route, which would restore my pay.

My brother, I didn’t really know his girlfriend, but it’s hard seeing him go through all this. He’s also facing a fight for custody of her kids that he’s raised like his own.  But they weren’t married so I don’t know if he can win that battle.

He’s actually the first stepping stone on my discovery path. He told me about 6 years ago that he was transgender. I had never really looked or researched into what that all meant, so I started so I could have a better understanding of what he was facing. It turned into one of those “Holy Crap! This is me” moments. And here I am now.

Thank you @Jamie68, right now I'm just taking it real easy:coffee:. The Urgent Care Doctor, who was a back injury victim himself recognized my tender situation and reluctance to have anyone help me move about. After hearing about my injuring activities, he prescribed three meds,?? two are pain management, and? one is a muscle relaxer. Then he referred me to the spine and back specialist he went to, along with two others. I have an appointment with them next Wednesday.

As for chiropractors, I've never been to one and will be selective on which one I choose. I did print out the recommendations you made, so I can ask informed questions as I move forward.

Gentle Hugs,

Hey there @KymmieL, two of these meds to have drowsiness warnings on them, the muscle relaxer does not. I was self medicating last week after the initial injury with a large amount of ibuprofen, and it seemed to be working, until I had a near fall in the shower and caught myself on the top of the shower door. That really jerked me out of wack and amplified my injury. I'm in a situation where I don't have to worry about operating equipment or machines, so drowsy is okay.

Happy early Birthday, and once you have the mani/pedi we expect pictures.

@Mmindy geez, I somehow missed your initial post about the injuries. I am very glad the pain is much reduced by now. Take it easy and be gentle with yourself.

Speaking of pain, I had a productive appointment with the Ehlers-Danlos physical therapist on Tuesday. I have a much better understanding of the goals of my therapy. I've incorporated my new understanding into what I've been practicing at home, and so far have had less pain. So, I am feeling much better (pain was 8/10 last couple weeks, and amazingly 5/10 yesterday) & am hopeful I can learn to manage better. I also reached out to the wellness person at work to see if she could evaluate the ergonomics of my work stations.

Additionally, I had my first appointment with a gender therapist yesterday!! I've been waiting since June, so this was much anticipated. My impression of her so far is good. She was nice, easy to talk to, and she said she wants to help me achieve my goals. She commended me on giving her a good overview about me on our first visit and said I thereby made it much easier for her to determine how to proceed. So far, it certainly seems like the beginning of a good relationship. And! It was very cool to be able to talk completely openly about my experience of gender and sexuality without feeling like I had to explain or justify or tiptoe around anything. Lol, she even said I was welcome to bring my dogs to therapy. I think I could bring my husky, but my Australian would want to herd every single item in her office.

Thank you @Vidanjali

I'm glad you're finding ways to manage your pain as well. Job related ergonomics is so important, and should give you options. I've found that there are two professions you should never feel bad about telling the truth. Your Healthcare Team, and your Lawyer, you're paying them to be on your side, so honesty and frankness is the best way to communicate.

Thanks Mike aka @Confused1 I'm fortunate to have a slowed work schedule right now so I can let thing be. I am looking forward to the back and spine doctor's finding. As mentioned earlier, I'll also see about chiropractic help too.

Best wishes, as we approach Thanksgiving and the Winter Holiday Seasons.

@JustineM This is terrible.  Doesn't your boss understand the economy is booming and businesses everywhere are looking for employees?  Not suggesting you look elsewhere but I'm sure its crossed your mind.   I hope it works out well for you.

Sorry to read about your family.

Well, I am a veteran.  I did manage to get an honorable discharge - just barely.  I was drafted to start with, and I wasn't wild about it.  But I figured it was my duty as a citizen, so there's that.  TBH I find it hard to stomach people who dodged the draft, going on and on about being such "patriots" and all, and literally hugging the flag. My egg hadn't cracked yet when I was serving, so I don't think being trans directly affected my time in uniform.  But there was most likely some subconscious stuff. Sorry, I don't think this is much use to you.

That was just one reference that came up.  I originally saw it somewhere else.  Technically, he did call for the eradication of "transgenderism".  But it would be hard to get rid of that (whatever it is) with us still here.     Yeah, later, when he got called out on it.   I don't really see how you can say this.  Sure he doesn't know what he's talking about, but the damage is real.   I will bend over backwards to give someone the benefit of the doubt.  But at some point…. I'm just not as limber any more.   They can say what they want, but actions speak louder than words, and when I see what is happening in red states it is obvious.  They do want to get rid of us.  I'm tired of pretending they don't.

For a time I would get an anxiety attack when I had to dress in male mode.  Haven't tried it in a while.

Thank for the birthday wishes, everyone!!!   It started great...and then I was rear-ended at a highway construction site this morning. I'm OK. The woman who hit me was shaken - was going fast enough to deploy her air bags. I was at dead stop. Her car had to be towed away. My truck too a hit to the tailgate and the bumper. It seems OK otherwise but I'll know tomorrow when they do the appraisal.   UGH!   Happy Birthday to Me!! :-)

"How did it go yesterday? Any trouble in Millville?" He shook his head. "Your biscuits and gravy are great." "Mama's recipe. She taught this girl to COOK." "Uh-huh.  Well, it rained the whole time.  We did the ground breaking in pouring rain.  Your friend, the former head of manufacturing, is now on the Board.  It looks like sunshine down there, he told me, with the missile plant starting up and they re-hired all the people they fired.  Millville Products is as it was.  And the Chinese money is still coming.  That was just an ugly rumor.  Gibson quit, but you knew that." "Missile plant, huh.  Yeah.  Gibson and I may go into business.  But I have been thinking-" "Yeah.  It's been declassified.  I can tell you they made missiles for Navy ships and planes during World War 2. It was shut down after Vietnam.  Several other supporting companies are moving in - paint, electronics assembly, a few others - that support missile production." "Okay."

I'm on the ballot being mailed tomorrow for an open US Rep seat.  I have both an honorable discharge and an other than honorable discharge.  I told the Navy that I was smoking pot every day right after Y2K.  I told them that while I was in the Navy, I substituted alcohol for marijuana and that the alcohol was making me violently sick.  After 5+ years of that, I said enough is enough and I went back to smoking pot.  I got better and I felt like the quality of my work was improving.   I certainly wasn't the perfect military member, but I excelled at my job and earned a promotion in boot camp.  They drug tested our unit several times after I told them I was smoking pot and I may have never tested positive.  I was opening smoking pot in the Navy for 3 or 4 months before they decided to kick me out.  At my captain's mast, the captain tried to shame me by saying I looked bad in uniform and that I was a disgrace, but all my evaluations said that I looked great in uniform.  I took great pride in looking good in my dress blues and whites.  Sure, I had grown my hair out a little bit (you know, it's not like I became trans in my 50's all the sudden) and I was enjoying some green anodized eye glasses :)   I think that people get very emotional about these kinds of issues when they should be concentrating more on engineering things and work performance.  I think we should take the lead and talk about our professional lives more instead of focusing on this type of politics.  That's a great document and I saved the PDF to my hard drive.  I think we should have more respect for the production that China is doing instead of concentrating on raising a military defense against them.  I personally disliked the hazing rituals in the Navy and think our military would be better off with being more accepting and intelligent.

My snarky comment of the morning is that Trump may be the first president sworn into office from a jail cell.  He can't keep his mouth under control.  It's likely he may be serving time for contempt for violating gag orders in January if he keeps it up, and the judges are more than happy to slap fines and imprisonment on him.

For one thing, this is Rolling Stone, who is convinced that the right is evil and writes articles from that perspective.   For another, he did not call out for eradication.  His answer was lousy, I did not like it, it was ambiguous, but he denied being for eradication of transgender people.   I still don't know what transgenderism is, but I see it as distinct from transgender people.   Conservative TG people need to become politically active and actively dialog and engage with these people..  Dang it.

Here's some inspiration. Wheels within wheels.
    • Lydia_R
Yes, totally.  That's a great story about your math history @Vidanjali!  Wow!   People tend to forget or are not aware of grads instead of degrees and radians, but that is becoming a big deal to me in the idea of coding a trigonometric function.  If you set your calculator to grads and then do the sin of 33.33, it comes up with .4999, you know, pi/6.  The significance here is that by dividing pi/2 (radians) into 100 units (grads) instead of 90 units (degrees), you are now in a base 10 space.  And when we are dealing with decimals (in base 10), and trying to convert them back to ratios, then notating our angles in the base 10 system of gradients seems like it is the key to coding the trigonometric function.   Then again, this has all kind of been a revelation to me the last couple days.  It's fun to combine math with code and I'm looking forward to writing some algorithms around this.  My last job was coding software for a healthcare company and there was no math involved in that and that was a depressing part of that job.  The long hours of that job kind of created a spiritual backlog of wanting to do some math work and I think that energy is busting out right now.
