Quality of the garments these days

Why has the quality of clothing gone so down hill these days, and why has the world of clothing retailing let it happen.  Their was a time long ago that dresses comprised of materials from nylon,to better materials like viscose and polyester and chemise..   Nowadays, cotton mainly - how boooooorinnnnggggg:(,  I get it that funds for merchandising must be pretty low, by the fact that shops merchandising is so strapped to the hilt, though even still it would be great that once in a while they had a mad fling and sell a range of more luxurious items to promote the quality of clothing to start going up hill again.  Maybe I am parking up a tree here, or have i hit a crux in a clothing marketing problem.  Maybe now our country's (UK) is going through Brexit, our countrys retail chains might have more money, or less who knows, hopefully more as it would be nice to be spoilt for choice for a wonderful range of materials and once again more brighter designs of garments for the more decerning girls amongst us.  Please give us all your views on this issue, this could prove to be an interesting topic

Oh forgot to mention, i get better deals at better materials from Charity shops than i get from main chain fashion stores.  Comes to something when a Charity store is more popular that a main chain fashion store.  Whats happening to the world...one can only but wonder...

Well, while the synthetic fibers are nice and can hold colors well, I like the feel of real cotton.  It is a bit harder to care for but I don't mind.

The quality of clothing is lower because the marketplace (us!) don't want to pay for better quality.  We have become a throw away society that is focused on the "next thing".  Fashion comes and goes in cycles that are shorter and shorter, therefore clothing isn't expected to last.

Yes this is true.  There are good buys on quality goods if you search for them.

I tend to look for name brand designers for better quality, since they have a "brand" that they don't want to devalue by a cheap manufacturing process.    I also tend to buy only what I love instead of buying something to wear once or twice.
