Look at the News sub forum.  Caroline has posted a story about this. The instigator behind the anti-transgender bill (question 3) in Massachusetts admitted their argument was made up.

Time to drag them into court and throw a bunch of charges like hate crime motivated slander/defamation of an entire group of people. If that person has licenses write to the bar/agency/company holding the license(s) and request that they be revoked for unethical conduct and make an example of the person.

Yeah @Jani. And he also said they did the exact same thing in Houston and succeeded!! These people are rediculous. The Uber right wing rhetoric is borderline radical activism!!! And nobody seems to give a flying you know what!! I wish that all the people that were duped into voting no would see this and realize just how stupid they are.

I agree. However, this approach is not new.

Activists and politicians have been using fear and bigotry in this way for ages. We only tend to notice when we're the ones being targeted. Usually, it's coded a little better instead of being such a blatant lie, a la Willie Horton, but it's been a constant for ages on both sides of the political spectrum because political ads and rhetoric are not required to be truthful.

I honestly don't know what can be done other than trying to debunk them in real time. Thankfully, the Measure 3 folks have admitted that we've figured out how to diffuse their fear mongering, so one hopes that at the least they'll have to adopt a new lie.

I'm quite proud of Massachusetts for not falling for it!

Laws in search of problems. This stuff is getting really old, quite tired of being a political punch bag. More and more people see through this crapola, and you see it in the numbers. Why don't social conservatives just find something else to blame.

The worst thing is that over 3 Million dollars was spent on this stupid campaign. 30 dollars buys 100 meals at the food bank so that’s 100 million meals for poor people who can’t afford to eat that just got wasted on crap. If this country stopped doing these kind of things and put their money time and effort to good uses the world could be an amazing place. But no. We’d rather fight with each other. Stupid really.

That's a great way of thinking about it, Kirsten. Terribly sad, though.

Btw, what's the right way to refer to residents of Massachusetts? Massachusites, Massachusonians, Massachusetters?

Massholes is the prevalent moniker given to us by folks from neighboring states. LOL  :D

Thats a good question Julie.  I don't think I've ever heard any of them... just "Massachusetts residents".   Whatever it is, its a mouthful!

And we're said to be from "Cow Hampshire"!

I was born in Maine so I am a "Mainer" at heart.  I alway thought Mainiac was a term of endearment!

Link to comment

I agree, Jani! I have lots of family in Maine and have always heard Mainiac used in a nice way.

I really appreciate that Mainers are able to simplify things. There are two kinds of people: Mainers and summer people/people "from away" ?

Lived in Augusta for a couple of years growing up..(4th and 5th grade).  It was a great place to be and I love the memories of I have..especially the summers.  I need to get back there before it's too late.

Have to say from over here this seems like a complete farce - I am sorry that this is a genuine issue it really shouldn't be. What does the law say about cleaners going into the opposite WC? - it happens frequently over here while in use and no one bats an eyelid.

I'm a native Mainer too. Northwestern Maine.

The far Southern corner for me!

The scariest moment I have had when using the loo was when I was in a cubicle and a women exclaimed that she didn't expect to find a man there. Then she started talking to the cleaner (she was just joking lol). She will never know how my stress level went up! :D

Yeah @SugarMagnolia I would have to say masshole. It’s more of a mass driver term though. We are all New Englanders more than anything.

@SeekingSadie I have never had any issues in any public restroom. I have had plenty of women talk to me, and have never heard a bad word said. Like the article had said, it was all a lie made up by some right wing political group.

Ngl, probably Sonic the Hedgehog, the Beatles, or the Monkees. Those are the three subjects I know the most about so I could drop hours of info on them.

Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!

Congratulations Sam,   The common saying her once someone starts HRT is: “Enjoy the ride.”   Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

WOW @Ashley0616 it’s good that you have skills to treat traumatic injuries, as well as the ability to remain calm while managing others needs to get yourself and the boys ready to go to the hospital. Proud mama bear skills. I’m glad that he’s doing well.    Meanwhile back at the ranch, we slept in and I’m just now finishing my 3rd cup of coffee.    Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well yesterday was not fun. I was getting ready to make dinner and I hear screaming and crying. I look over and my son put his foot through glass. He gashed near his Achilles tendon. Thankfully that is intact. I didn't freeze for a second. All of my military training came into play. I doctored him up and got Jett ready and myself and we headed to the ER. He is doing ok today. He says he is in pain but doesn't need Tylenol. He is a tough cookie!

Hi,   It's seems today is my trans birthday.  I'm beyond excited. Just picked up my testogel from the pharmacy. Although I naturally have doubts as I'm sure do we all, they are rapidly disappearing. Yesterday I was so nervous I kept claiming I'm not trans, despite grinning like a fool knowing I can pick up my prescription the next day. I'm shaking and on the verge of happy tears. I will put on my first sachet this eve. Thanks so much to this forum and kind words from people. This is the first forum I found when I began seriously questioning.

While the Soviet Union did not end up being the source of all evil, I believe that history has shown that Joe McCarthy generally was right. There ARE all kinds of Marxists slithering around. And if that had been dealt with firmly 75 years ago (or more) the nation wouldn't be in the shape that it's in now.    And while I generally oppose the idea of intervening in foreign affairs, the world probably would have been better off if we had taken care of issues in Russia and defeated the Bolshevik Menace back in 1919. God bless the memory of Admiral Kolchak.   Getting back to project 2025, my belief is that Republican efforts are inappropriately focused on trans folks. A minority of a minority does not wreck a nation. But it is easier to focus on trans folks because they can look like they're doing something. They don't have to address the real problems, and really they don't want to address them because they would have to address themselves.  They would also need to admit that the 50 State version of the USA cannot be saved.
