Legal Name Change

Wanted to share that I got the form to change my birth certificate name and gender marker for California and have mailed out all the documents needed and the cost to have it updated.  So now it is just the waiting period on to get my new birth certificate.

That one was bittersweet to me. I was very sad afterwards. It’s like erasing part of your past really. Honestly I’m still torn on this one. Too late for me now though.

Thank You.  I was torn on not really wanting to touch my Birth certificate.  But I now have to cause with the new TSA laws out there and I need to update my license one more time to get the additional Government approved addition added onto my license in order for me to be able to fly anywhere.  AZ is one of the states that the standard license is no longer valid to fly and so I need my Birth certificate to get that TSA approved thing added onto my license so I will be able to fly.

 

So it is both exciting and sad both since it is part of my past but it is needed to be able to fly once again

All states are requiring that. I got my federal id before my birth certificate though. You don’t need the birth certificate for it. It is one of the valid forms of ID, but not a required one. I used my court name change paperwork and my old name license.

I tried to do that here in Arizona when I changed my name last year and I was at the DMV.  But AZ would not allow me and said that I need a passport or birth certificate.

You can use your old name one though. All you need is the court paperwork that says you changed your name. There are plenty of states that don’t allow you to change your birth cert still. And you’re required to have the real id in those states too. 

Not that it matters anyways at this point for you. But for others it’s is 100% not required to change your birth certificate for anything unless you want to. But really think about it. It truly has been the saddest part of my transition to date.

Seeing Michelle, female on my cert was liberating for me.

 

I hated my first name so much it affected my ability to watch some actors and other peeps such as...

Harvick

McCarthy...

 

I still can't even type the name

 

I can at least watch them now...

 

Mentally and dysphorically it was what calmed me and started helping me FEEL authentic. 

 

Once I am free of the restrictions of what Amy calls her "birth defect" I will be ME!

 

I am on GRS waiting list. I met my Top surgeon. Dr Ben Childers. I've met some of his patients. 

 

Great creeds and has a Bottom Surgeon in mind that is also highly skilled.

 

Getting my Birth Certificate amended was the final piece.

 

I got letters from my Shrink and PCP. My Insurance Co has been petitioned and referrals and appointments for evaluation have been completed. I am waiting for my Surgery date.

Congratulations Amy. The whole in birth certificate sounds fishy to me. Figure women who take their husbands" names don't need a new birth certificate.
