I put my big girl panties on this morning.

My wife, who tolerates me to a degree, had a full knee replacement a few days ago.  My love for her is so deep that I have no problem providing the best care I can possibly give. My heart breaks when she is in pain.  I know that being transgender mtf, I am very sensitive.

 

When my wife and I were married 39 years I accepted the pledge to love, protect and care for her for the rest of my life. Putting on my big girl panties every morning helps to give me the strength to do the best I can for my love.

Hello Sandra,  it's nice to see a marriage last like this.  39 years is quite remarkable in today's day and age and the added facet of a transgender partner into the mix makes it even more amazing.  It's a testament to you both and your love for one another.  I wish you both the very best and hope your wife will recover quickly from her procedure.

PS:  I want to add...my father had both his knees replaced.  He did a lot of physical therapy as prescribed and had no issues with that knee.  The second replacement always gave him pain but he did not do any of the prescribed physical therapy.  So if you want to make things easier for your wife in the long run as to  knee replacement recovery, make sure she is diligent with all the aftercare work.

Thank you Susan, we are just 7 days out from the surgery so her pain is still quit high, even with the med she takes.  We are using ice and doing PT exercises 3 times a day.  Ever day brings a little progress.
