Waiting For Tomorrow Night..

I'm at my grandparents house until tomorrow night. They're very type-A personality people. They're very judgmental. If you aren't what they think you should be, you'll never hear the end of it. It's been two years since I cut my hair short, and I'm still getting grief from it. Once, my grandfather and I got into an argument about me going by Aiden, and he told me he never wanted me to come over again... Well then... Wish me luck!

I'm sorry you are going through this with your grandparents.  My own grandparents (the ones still living) don't want a lot to do with me either but I don't know why. They act like my mom brothers and I are the outcasts of the family.  I want to connect with family so bad but they don't want anything to do with me.  I sometimes think it is better that way but it can get lonely.  If you get feeling that way you can pm me anytime.

So how did it go, Aiden?   Did you and your grandparents co-exist peacefully for one night, or did hell break out?  I hope the former.  I don't know how long you've been out to them, but it does take many folks, especially older folks, a while to understand and adapt to changes in their children and grandchildren, and you being trans is a very big change for them.  My advice is to be gentle but persistent, and provide lots of information so they can take their time and study up on the subject of who trans people are, and are not.  Hopefully they will come around and accept the new you.
