Nails

I have never grown my nails out, because if they are not absolutely trimmed I have a constant need to cleen them on an hourly basis. I have decided to let them grow out a bit, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas, or do people with longer nails actually clean them on an hourly basis the way I feel?

Hi Jenny:

For years, I've always kept my right index and middle finger with about 3/16" white.

Ostesibly, that's so that I can finger pick guitar. My left hand I have to keep short due to fingering,

except for the index finger which is a bit longer so that I can cover two strings with one finger.

Yes, longer fingernails do collect and/or make it more difficult to remove kruft.

I always keep a nail file close to hand anyway, but certainly not hourly!

Now that you made me think of this subject, I'll let the other nails on my right hand grow out a bit,

except for the thumb, because I play with the ball of the thumb and don't want to catch the fingernail.

Hey there, Jenny. Hey there, Z. OwUB? IBOK.

In so far as cleaning my nails every hour? Not me. But then I wash my hands at least once an hour anyways. And I've only known a couple of girls who were at their nails all the time. You know, kind of like the secretary with nail file routine? Who knows, you might just be like me with the hand washing. No, I'm not OCD. I just have lots of little quirks. I called it personality.

Z, right now, because of the guitar, the nails on my left hand are short, and the nails on my right hand are long. I use a pick. And when I finger pick, I use my nails. Ball and thumb? Do you mean, as opposed to placing the thumb on the back of the neck as we're supposed to do? Uh, 3/16" white? I'm not understanding. Wazzit mean? And more difficult to remove kruft? Kruft?!? I looked up kruft and found that Kruft is a municipality in the district of Mayen-Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany. I would think municipalities are difficult to remove with or with nails. But I betcha I could I could remove just about any municipality in a real hurry if I had those acrylic nails.

See… I've always had my talons long. My problem is that they don't grow straight. Wouldn't you know it… everything in my life is like that? Hahaha. I've been thinking of the salon acrylic nails but… 1) They can look a little odd after too many reapplications (eagle claws). 2) I practice guitar. 3) If you've ever heard one of those things snap and seen the aftermath, you'd have second thoughts too. People will jump and ask what that very loud pop was. Sounds like a very loud slap across the face. And the break will likely be where the nail is on the finger. I understand it can really hurt. But seriously, after awhile, these turn into some serious talons. I'm seriously considering them for my right hand. I use my fingernails for everything. I don't know if I could even breathe without them. Too scared to try. I don't know if I could go without air long enough for them to grow back. Horrible. Simply horrible. Also, remotes are not very nail friendly. Those teeny-tiny buttons were designed by tiny elves living in some stupid snowy town or something. Don't worry, me and them elves… we're gonna dance. Kruft? Did that municipality, like… hack you off or something? Tell me what they did and I'll join forces with you. I'm with ya Z.

Hunting municipalities …

Hi Isabella:

C'mon, how are you going to do the walk-down on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

without hooking that old thumb over the sixth string?

I was actually talking about my right thumb. I don't use any picks when I fingerpick.

My fingernails on my right hand have grown 3/16" past the quick, that is 3/16" appears white.

Kruft ist eine Ortsgemeinde der Verbandsgemeinde Pellenz im Landkreis Mayen-Koblenz, Rheinland-Pfalz.

I once had to get a key from a security guard. He had it on one of those split rings that you

really have to dig your fingernail into to pry it open. After a couple of minutes of fruitless

effort he handed it to me to do with the embarrassed confession that he bit his nails!

I have long acrylic finished nails. They are always about 1/4" past my tips. I also have them polished. I go to my nail salon once a month and get the works.

Pedicure

Toe nail polish - either bright Red or Pink

Manicure'

Nail Polish - usually a light Pink

Eyebrows waxed, plucked, shaped, trimmed

Most do not notice my long nails or the polish. Those that have, I have only gotton positive comments. I had this one older lady while at the back notice my nails. She asked if she could look at them. So I held my hands up so she could see them. She takes my hand, shows it to her husband and says, "See some men do take care of their nails and hands". LOL

I love long nails but choosing the right kind for your profession is important.

I personaly do acrylics or gels. Gels are a bit more expensive but will hold up much longer. Not to mention you can get a french white tip and not need a fill for a month. Its great on the pocket book lol.

the other issue is how often your hands are in water, tips are not a good idea if you are using your hands in water etc

been doing it for 10-15 years or so.

its truely weird not to have long nails LOL

I do a manicure about once a week, probably not good for my pocket LOL but I like to have clean nails, and I tend to scratch them easy, although nailpolish makes them a bit stronger. a french manicure is sometimes nice, but i go for the natural.

Hmm I dont know really mine just grow out really thick nd strong and fast, my advice would be not to bite them. And i think that they have vitamins and stuff for peoples nails/ hair that dont grow. As for what I do with mine? I keep them french tipped, white where ny nail cuts off at my acutal finger. And a very light pinkish coat on the rest.

Since I promised my school that I'd keep my transition "subdued", I've just let my nails grow out a little bit. I'm using Maybeline Express Dry Clear, that keeps them strong and healthy. On weekends, I replace this with Blushing Bride Pink to match my lip gloss.
