After thinking of it trough a sleepless night i finally got the courage to go out and buy some makeup

I was in for quite a susprise!

The 2 ladies there was just great, showed me lots of things gave me tips and a makeover while they we're at it, i felt great :D and look great to.

Was lots of people in there aswell, this old ladie was bying something for her husband and asked me if i liked it, she didnt know if it was guy'ish enough lols, here i am getting eyeshadow put on so that wasnt what i expected haha.

I'd rather she saw me as a woman tho but hey, cant have it all :P (yet)

A great day!

That sounds like a fun time.

Two ladies treating you just like you want to be treated and the third had no problem with you at all, even asking advice.

She may not have seen you as female, but she certainly didn't see you as a freak - no one asks advice of freaks so she just say you as a kind person.

Now you have some makeup and with the make over a good idea how to use it.

Not bad at all.

Love ya,

Sally

wow really happy for you that you had that good of an experience for your first time out buying makeup, I know when my first time out buying makeup will be very nervous for me and will be hard for me to do since I am VERY self conscious about myself.

AHhhh...Lisa Marie!

How wonderful is THAT!????

OMG ...that makes your entire day, doesn't it?

I'm really happy for you because like Sally said, you weren't looked at as a freak and your opinion was asked and wanted! This is a BIG plus for your confidence and next time you will be less nervous and each time after that!

So good!

Thanks! :)

I'm still walking on clouds really, totally made my day, even went out shopping afterwards and nobody really looked.. or well they did but only for half a second or so and didnt dare look again lols, wonder who was the most nervous, i wasnt me thats for sure!

Honestly tho once i got over it this morning i wern't all that nervous , just told myself, well how bad can it be and jumped in it, best thing i've done all year

Told the ladie that i wanted to buy some makeup and that was that!, she laughed quite good when i said i'd probably get some long stares now.

Its amazing how unwarranted your fears are sometimes.

So right, some fears are good, they can keep you from falling off of a cliff or from drowning, but most have no real basis and just hold us back.

Congratulations on conquering one of yours.

Love ya,

Sally

Oh - that is so good!

Yes - 90% of our fears are unfounded! You projected something these people picked up and admired you for. This shows you are on the right path and on your way.

Oh my - heady time indeed!

That's awesome that they were so good to you..funny i went out and bought my own makeup finally, my wife has been showing me a few tips and such with hers but her skin is much lighter than mine so we found some good stuff that matches my skin quite well... AND i applied it myself for the first time (ya ya i'm behind the curve i know) it was so fun and exciting! I should have taken a picture but eh.. i make an ugly woman right now.. got my doc appt in early june so hopefully i can go on HRT.

Ok ya that wasn't a "fast reply" afterall lol

Ugly woman? Maybe not. I thought I was - and I wasn't a pretty sight in makeup - BUT wait until HRT kicks in - new world!

And a hint- select a foundation and concealer - get professionally analyised - and the rest of the colors will fall in place... and do a color match by also going outside to see what it looks like! Inside can look okay - but outside look super bad sometimes.

Ya, i have a semi pro right here in my house..my wife is a beauty school grad from years ago, and is quite adept at helping me color/straighten my hair (helped me with a new hair style as a matter of fact), and she went with me to pick up some make up and she was quite analytical about what was right for me. :D Lucky i guess.

Lisa, that is so awesome. :) I'm really happy for you. I bought makeup for the first time recently too, and while I didn't quite have the nerve to ask for advice from the store staff, I know how fun and exciting it was for you. That's a great step. Enjoy, enjoy!

Lisa that is so great to hear, glad you had a good time with the makeup and all. I know the first time I went to the Mac counter and asked them about makeup and help with it I was nervous because was afraid they would look at me like a freak or something but they didn't and now I love going there and getting makeup put on and tips on what to use and how to apply it (matter of fact was there today).

It is wonderful when we step over that fear and realize how small it really is. I truly am happy for you ... you go girl :D .

Hurray for victory!! 8D

The people at those professional counters do know a thing or two about makeup, eh?? It's great you got to learn so much about it!

I'm so happy you had such a good day, so many things that seem so small are what really count for happiness. <3

This story warmed my heart. I needed that, so thank you :) It reminds me of my first forays into the mens departments of stores and the first time I bought a pair of boxers and how scared I was and how it doesn't even phase me anymore. Huzzah for the little victories!
