GCS

Hello All:

Wanted to see how many have seen or watched a Youtube video on how GCS is preformed?

For the rules, I am not going to be posting any videos of it, but just wanted to know who all has seen videos on how GCS is preformed?   I have been intrigued with how it is done.  Some videos get graphic, and want to look away, but it still makes me look forward to finally being able to go for GCS and to have a vigina.

I've seen some a while back. I cringed at times. Personally I'm not too interested in getting gcs at this time yet, maybe an orchidectomy down the road, but I'm patient about it for now.

I'm very intrigued by medical and surgical matters and studies.

I watched one of the 3D non gore clinical videos (actual surgery videos are just gross and hard for me to follow). I was fascinated, mostly because that was the focus of my dysphoria and the biggest thing for me to take care of. In my experience the wors was having a cathater for a week. For whatever reason the thing hurt when I moved. I was so glad to have it out. After the first three months things are healed enough that there was almst no discomfort. Dialation is a pain, thoug sometimes a cheap thrill....

For anyone considering it, my advice is to weigh the pros and cons of both getting the surgey and not. If you are not dysphoric about that bit, you might want to just skip it. There are a lot of downsides and with any surgey a slight risk of complications or death.

So, I am totally squeamish about real surgery videos.  Under stress, I can keep it together.  I get calm, cool, and collected.  Afterward, I loose it!  I can handle an emergency, but when it is over I freak out.  I helped a guy with a dislocated knee one time and the top of his lower leg bone was beside where his knee should be.  Looked totally painful and wrong! Once the ambulance was gone, I went in the bathroom and shook and cried for about 20 minutes.  Watching Saving Private Ryan - no big deal.  I know the people getting blown in half is just movie effects.  Seeing someone drain a little bitty cyst on Youtube - no way!!!

Yes, I have watched the CGI versions.  It still made me a bit uncomfortable to watch.  That's a lot of cutting!  Would go for the surgery in a heartbeat, but get weirded out watching it.  I just want to be put to sleep and wake up and it is done.  I can handle that.  I can even handle blood and bruising and the aftermath.  I just don't like to see human flesh get cut, torn, or otherwise damaged.  I had blood drawn yesterday and had to look away while the needle was in.

I am thankful there are medical professionals who can stand to look at and do surgeries.  I am such a baby when it comes to stuff like that.

Hi! I’m planning to have an Orchiectomy whenever I can schedule one, and do not plan on getting a vaginoplasy for a while, or at least until I’ve fully healed from my orchie. Videos? Probably not , unless it’s required or if it’s a CGI vid.

That pretty much is what happend. I sounted to 1 to 10, got to 3 before the anthesia kicked in and then woke up and it was gone. Best thing that ever happened to me. I still get giddy over it 2 years later. I did find out my body does not like morphine (hit the button only three times on the firs day then no more, and I know it hates pain killers. I start getting very nauseaus.

As soon as my Ins gets approved I can start looking for a surgeon!

I got the green light from all three of my providers. PCP, Therapist and My Psychiatrist. I am getting excited.

As far as the videos are concerned i cant make sense of the live ones. There's an animated on that is very informative that i like.

I'll admit I didn't look at the vid, I think it's kinda gross myself, and I've seen other images of the procedure.

Glad I slept through it all. When I did get my first look at things post op it was not pretty. In fact it was all black and blue and ugly for a while, but then sometime around 4 months it became beautiful, and today, I see no scars there, totally blended into my lower body, like I was made for this. My outcome almost 3 years later is totally awesome to me, I'd show you pictures of that, but it's not allowed here ?

I had a mixed reaction to the videos. They are intense, and the doctors go about their business with calm efficiency. At first it was a little rough to watch, especially thinking that I could be the patient one day. It also made the whole process real and achievable. Like it's just another day for the medical staff which somehow makes the idea less daunting. I'm not in a rush to watch more, but I don't regret watching what I did.
