Gender Therapist Appointment

Ellora

Recommended Posts

Hi! This Tuesday I will be going to my first Gender Therapist appointment. My Primary would like for me to start seeing one as a formality for completing bottom surgery in the future. It’s not necessary for my Orchiectomy, but recommend for the complete works.

Im excited to see what she has to say. I want to have a therapist I can talk to, I don’t have too many people that I can talk too about my Journey.

I'm glad you are going to see a therapist prior to any surgery.  That was a requirement for me and i had to have letters with a second opinion as well from another therapist.  At the time, while i was a bit annoyed but i did what was needed.  I've found that in time i'm so glad i went through those hoops.  The review of myself i had during therapy helped me get through the doubts i faced and sometimes even face today.  It was time well spent.  Enjoy your time and please try to be as open and honest as you share.

Hugs,

Charlize

Hi Charlize! I’m glad too. I’ve been wanting to go see a therapist for a bit, but the scheduling never seemed to work. I’ve had a “regular “ therapist before and know how good it felt to be able to talk to someone about anything and not feel awkward afterwards, so I’m definitely looking forward to talking about Me, Ellora.  Especially to someone I don’t know, and after all that has changed in the past minute, ?. Things have picked up speed, so it will be nice to talk about it all.

The Appointment went really well ?. It turns out I had seen this therapist 8 years ago, and she specializes in transgender therapy. I liked her before, and like her even more now. I have scheduled another appointment in two months, and she looks forward to monitoring my progress. ?. We talked about my Orchie and vaginoplasty. She even suggested a doctor for my vaginoplasty! Soo happy she is onboard with everything. The doctor she suggested has a long waiting list , and that’s ok, cause I Am not in a rush. This was a good day. ?

That sounds like a wonderful productive session.  Glad you are getting this kind of help.  My time in therapy helped tp smooth and accept my path.

It was! It felt great talking to her about my journey. I enjoyed that she smiled at my enthusiasm while speaking to her. At times it felt as I was talking to a friend, not a therapist, and we were sharing stories. I am looking forward to seeing her again.

I think we had similar experiences, after our talk, I felt reassured, confident.

Congratulations on your progress.  I have been working with my primary, and asked if and how a more formal diagnosis works.   I think that everyone has their own path but glad that I have received the diagnosis of gender dysphoria in adulthood fairly quickly. It was a relief when what I knew  what I was confirmed . It was the easiest conversation that I had but put off for years .

Hi! Thank you!! It really is a huge relief to be confirmed! It feels great when it is done professionally. It’s like a “stamp of approval.” I wish the best for you on your journey! ?
