Pride

[Hellothere]

we swarmed the streets

armed with puns and signs

rainbows and heartbeats 

so many of us, lines and lines

 

they all jeer

Pointing at the throng

calling us queer

well you aren't totally wrong

 

they can curse us

they  can swear and cus

still they cant destroy our pride 

all together on this ride

 

we smile at the crowd

and point to our flag

so quiet yet so loud

our pride will never lag

 

all of us together 

the phase'll last forever

you cant get rid of it

our pride is a candle forever lit

I like this poem but do hope your Pride parade wasn't confronted as mentioned.  It may be my area but here marchers find cheering crowds full of support.  While protestors may exist they are shouted down and are quickly lost behind the rainbow.

No, not sure if mine has happened yet. I live in a religious state regardless. It was kinda a broad, we can overcome anything in our way.

The best thing is perhaps that many are now willing to be out as themselves.  Again i like the poem.
