Ferritin levels

Just wondering While on HRT has anyone had an abnormal Ferritin level?

This is the first time I have had raised amounts of this. In the 4 years i have been on them and anytime in my life. Not that its checked very often

I have seen that HRT can have an effect on these.

They are only a little raised but Just wondered if anyone else has had the same result at anytime during there medication.

Its either that or the Doctor. Whom is not a gender specialist has based it on Genetic female levels that are lower than male ones. Which at the end of the day male  genetics i have  no matter how much i  might deny it.

Im not really concerned. Just Asking.  Im sure its the latter As I said he has not made the connection on my genetics I think.  Im going to see my gender doctor next month so ill ask him to get the full story on it

I am not aware of raised Iron levels from HRT, also the anti-androgen used in the UK are different than in the US as far as I know.  I would talk to your doctor.

I have Ferro Hemo Chromatosis which is a genetic variation that makes my body hang onto ferritin and may have been partially responsible for my Type II Diabetes.  I have never heard of FHC being activated by HRT, mine was diagnosed 6 years before I began taking HRT.  On the interesting side Trans women are about 2:1 for Cis people having the trait and it keeps being bounced in and out as related being Trans directly by medical researchers.  Mine did not fully appear until  I was in my later 50"s.  I was confirmed as having the condition come to me from both parents under a microscope scan of my genetic material.  Folks from northern parts of the British Isles, including Ireland have the greatest incidence of genetic Ferro Hemo Chromatosis.

thanks ladies for the replys.

the more I think about it the more I think its one of those little things that gender markers need some sort of indication that the test should be carried out for male genetics.

My gender marker is Female. Which I DO NOT want changing . However when test results do come back from what i have seen have a normal range for that particular gender that is written. Therefore im being looked at by the tesing as female when as i said it should be looked at from a male perspective therefore my results will not be inline with the normal female ranges and in the case of ferritins will be elevated. The doctor doesnt conclude they are elevated. They come back with the expected ranges pre marked and highlighted as not within normal parameters by the test facility. I doubt if a gp getting a quick look at the results of 30 other people at the same time. he isnt going to know all the exact figures of everysingle normal measurement of every single test. As much as they would like us to think so.hense its already written down on the test if its not quite right. The ones i have been privvy to anyway have.

Not the doctors fault. Its just one of those gender marker absudites.

I will double check this when i see my gender specialist. But im not going to particullay worry about it for the time being. Its not time to start bleeding myself just yet ? If I was that concerned then i would start giving blood which is far more noble and apprently drops them far lower. I guess I could always find myself a nice Vampire to give me the occasional nibble

Ill keep you all updated should anything come of it and if my theory is correct and it has been measured with the wrong ruler.

All will be revealed in due course.

In the meantime if anyone has any expreiances with this then please do share.

Ok I can update on this now. After all the tests.

Which were.

Many Blood tests. Mainly blood work etc.

Iron Studies

Ultrasound of my upper abdomin. Checks Liver, Stomach, Gall Bladder, Kidneys, Etc etc

In a nutshell.

Yes HRT Can potentially raise ferritin levels Thats from my gender therapist not i just pulled it out of google.

Mine are raised. However Not by much. At least nothing to be concerned about. Being honest depending on where you go Mine could read normal. But in the NHS scale im about 100 higher than i should be. Which in reality is very little considering you would only have a problem if you was over the 1500's

My iron is normal just the ferritin is raised which as stated above could be hrt However it could also be i did exercise after toast with a big dollop of marmite.

Yes I love marmite.

So it would appear im out of the woods. So your stuck with me for a little longer.

Ok its taken me a while but i have found evidence re, liver enzymes

Quote

Liver functionHigh-dose oestrogen therapy is linked to liver dysfunction, but again this is rarely significant with careful and responsive monitoring of oestradiol levels and liver function. At most it will usually cause a mild and temporary increase in liver enzymes. In one series, no trans women had a significant problem.8

Its in a paper written by Jonny Coxon, GP and Clinical Assistant, Endocrinology, Brighton; Leighton Seal, Consultant Endocrinologist, The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, London.

yes i know this was a while ago i started this thread. But just something ou may not know but do now.

Just to increase your knowledge base for future reference

I'm curious, but then if I am true to myself, I have a hard time being in crowds.  I love hearing great music, but being in an audience is such a turnoff for me that I don't go to concerts or bars.  I'm just very much a producer.  I actually like doing the dishes more than going to concerts because it's an active thing.

My therapist is trying a new tact. I've named my self protection self that ssays not eating or too much exercise because when I starting because oftrauma my protective self started and also at the time the name Shay came to me and is now part of my name.  It's not like having a split personality, just my primative self protection who is always there to help me. My therapist has Shay, me and him working as a team to assure her that I am safe and to start changing her role in my life so I protect me by eating right and exercising to maintain a heathy body. It is helping a little but we just started this a few weeks ago.

Good morning, everyone!!   Yesterday was lawn mower battery day. I've been nursing the battery on my Zero Turn mower for two weeks. It gave up the ghost when I stopped to refuel yesterday so I had to run over to the local shop to get a new one. And forgot my wallet so I had to drive home and back again.   Then, I was using the garden tractor with the bagger to pick up the clippings. I cut about 7 acres so it took me awhile. When I was done, I went to refuel it and, of course, it wouldn't start when I'd finished putting in the gas. I'm hoping it was just some corrosion on the cables - cleaned them up, gave it a quick charge and it started right up. We'll see if it will hold a charge now or turn out like the Zero Turn.   House cleaning day today. And then I'm going to just relax outside for a bit and enjoy one more warm day before our temps drop and rain comes in for the weekend.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Striking your head against the wall, you can lose 150 calories an hour. Blue color attracts mosquitoes in two times more than any other. Most toilet paper sold for home use in France is pink. In 2014, a missing woman on a vacation in Iceland was found when it was discovered that she was in the search party looking for herself. In 2005, Mark Zuckerberg unsuccessfully tried to sell Facebook for $75 million. Back then it was called TheFacebook. Strawberries can also be white or yellow, and some can even taste like pineapples! The Boston Marathon didn’t allow female runners until 1972. I attend a medical day-centre in Texas for needed medical services. It's religious oriented, so not gender fluid friendly. I of course dress 100% in female attire yet androgynous to keep both "them happy", and I really don't mind.    I of course am imposed rules that no other participant is bound by. The examples are the allowed size of my backpack, or how many visits per day I can see my Representative payee.  The gender neutral restroom use was a compromise that all off us have agreed to.  Not being able to wear tanks tops or shorts that aren't "Bermuda length" are other examples of where I am restricted more than any other participant. "Bra talk" is strictly forbidden, even though their doctor and occupational therapist were the ones that told me I needed support due to neck pain.    I found myself being reprimanded by staff three times yesterday for very petty details, and they have constantly pushed for me to remove myself from the program voluntarily. I am of course someone not welcomed in the program, but federal discrimination laws prevent them from removing me. They instead are just making life miserable with the hopes that I will leave on my own.

Nope.  I live in a rural area.  Pride events are for city folks.  The normally quiet LGBTQ+ club kind of changes atmosphere during that time, and things get a bit political.  As a non-Democrat, I avoid it.
