What Trans Women Aren’t Told About Bottom Surgery

Yes this was a well written and informative article.  Frank but not to much.  Should be required reading.

I do agree with what's written under the heading "It's disgusting."  I couldn't look for two weeks, weak stomach that I have.  Although I do recall thinking about the line from "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," "it's my first day as a woman and its that time of the month!"  I said to myself, this is real!

I didn't have, and won't be having, GCS.  But I still found the article fascinating and well written.  It will certainly help me help other trans women on these boards who have questions and concerns.  Thanks for posting it, Vicky.

that's a thing this topic reminded me of :

1. We don't talk enough about GCS

We have a lot of that on here. but it all dates back some time and may be a little hard to find if it is archived.  When I had been here about 18 months there were about 8 of us in line for GCS and we did have some good discussions, and one or two that did get messed up a bit by some people who "knew it all" and waylaid the conversations, but they are still here.  Another thing is that attitudes toward having GCS have changed for a  while and we had folks who were not looking at having the surgery for a while.  I will not recommend that a person go for surgery or tell them they are not Trans if they do not want surgery and above all else the decision to have any surgery must be their own.  That said, lets get talking here by all means.

Sorry, I was not talking about the forum, I was talking about IRL

Part of what I said above still applies here, it used to be that GCS was a constant topic at support meetings I had gone to, but it has become a problem in many groups because people are taking routes other than going for surgery, some cannot afford surgery or have other reasons it is not going to happen.  In groups I am in from time to time the subject is avoided for the previous reasons so it does not take up time needed by non-surgical people and we do see some sad things from it.  You are right about health care systems as well although many of them are coming around.  I advocate in my HMO and have spoken to medical care groups, but we need more of that.  My HMO performs cross gender surgeries and my Gynecologist had specific training in dealing with Post Op women so I am so very very lucky there.

I wish there was a place that's 18+, with no stalker or creeps, without taking time from other more general issues (like you mention)

Now you have given me a mystery to solve.  At one time we had a Forum where only our members 13 to 24 could initiate posts and topics.  Where did it go?  At my IRL LGBT center we do have a group for the 12 - 20 members to sit around a talk with only two adults in the room for safety sake.  You mean Under 18 don't you?  Teens and Tweens as my Center meeting is called.  I had to have my fingerprints taken to be one of the adults who sits in with the younger people to be sure I was safe by the way.

i really appreciate the article its a lot of information which is well done. Since i am still in the beginning stages of MtF it will be a while before I get there but its great information as being able to ask the right questions in the future and will hopefully have the hair removed way before that time so i do not need to worry about it later. For now i am just taking it slow as trying to do too much makes me anxious and worried.

That sounds pretty accurate. I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore, as I basically consider Windows itself a virus/malware. Backups can absolutely save you from some types of malware like ransomware. However it's ideal to just not get infected by having smart browsing habits. It's been said, and very accurately so, that the best antivirus is you - even the best antivirus isn't 100% accurate in detecting bad stuff, if you go out looking for that stuff or browse carelessly.   I guess if you don't care and/or don't have sensitive data on your PC, then that's fine I suppose. I personally care a lot - personal accounts, private messages, and even my very presence on this site aren't necessarily things I want to be public knowledge. 🤓🫠

Yes he is. Sorry it has taken so long. One sick kid and the other has needed my attention more than usually.

Sure is! Is he good with the kiddos?

Once again the Biden admin ignores Congress and issues a regulation that can be quickly changed. It would be much wiser if they worked a bill through Congress that became law.

I think that is the camera on the floor. Of course the kids aren't picking up after themselves oh well. He sure is big for only being 6 months old.

@Birdie @Adrianna Danielle    @Willow    Big news today. We're moving to WA. My wife is taking a job and I am most likely losing mine, so it's adventure time. I'm supposed to be a risk-seeker (Aries, ENTP, etc.) but this is hitting every klaxon and alarm in my brain, but it's going to make my wife and kids happy and it will be a place to make new friends as me without the 45 years of binary baggage. There are tech jobs all over Seattle, which we'll be near, and it's a decent State for trans rights (I don't know how it compares to MN, which is a refuge state). So wish us luck! This could be the best thing ever or rocky as hell, who knows!

I know the feeling. I had to replace the dishwasher, fridge, stove. The only other issues that could pop up is the washer and dryer and the microwave oh I forgot the toaster.

That's the hard part of online relationships, they really never get to see the whole you. You either have to create a persona that will carry the day until they get to see you for who you are, or be open and take the risk because it's really easy for them to disconnect because there is little to no bond.   You have to share pictures of your puppy! I am not a dog person, but I can appreciate them in jpg format! My kiddos would love to have a pet, but we're all allergic in some shape or form and my wife and I are like, "no." :D
    • Ashley0616
I'm sorry Birdie! I wished you could move to a non-stressful place.

I love shopping for cars with my imaginary budget lol. A mustang is always fun to drive! Every time I felt down or depressed I drove it and it made me happy!

Well things have actually been really good lately. I got a dog last Friday. I forgot how expensive they are but they are worth it. Now if I can just get him potty trained that would be awesome! He only has one particular spot inside that he likes so I try to watch him carefully. He is part German Shepheard and part Lab. He is very low maintenance. The sad part is that he didn't know what to do with a treat nor did he knew how to play fetch instead my youngest was playing fetch. He is kind of getting used to toys somewhat. I'm no longer expecting a relationship because I tell them what is wrong with me because I don't want them to be surprised about anything and they always ghost me. Oh well.
