Hello everyone! My name is Ellie~

This is my first time ever posting on a forum, allowing myself the agency and power to be able to speak and try to meet other transgender people, or just some nice, understanding people~
Offline, I have to keep the fact that I'm transitioning to female a secret at home, as my family doesn't exactly understand me, my personality, or my struggles since a child... I am currently trying to figure out how I'm going to coordinate my transition with my GP, while going to work (and back to school), so that I can not only become financially independent but also liberate myself from my fairly  conservative family circle. My few IRL friends are very supportive, but they're mostly online, and the ones that I see in person are scant. That is to say, I'm generally fairly lonely most of the time ?

I don't really know what else to say besides the fact that my counsellor encouraged me to try and join a forum, to speak with more people like myself, as i find that I have nobody to identify with, share my feelings and experiences with (besides my counsellor), and that my cis friends are probably getting tired of hearing about my trials and tribulations. It's not at all that I'm an introvert; quite the opposite. I'm very extroverted. It's just that I have barriers and dependence on my family resulting in a block from my liberation... it can be hard not having anyone, besides a best friend who gets tired of hearing about things, and a boyfriend who lives across the continent, to talk to, and even then, they can only relate so much... .-.

But enough of being a downer~!
It's nice to be here, and i hope to make some new friends, share some experiences, and join in when I can.

Glad to meet anyone and everyone who would like to chat~ :)

Hello Ellie.  Welcome!  Transitioning is empowering and I hope this is the beginning of a good thing for you.  You'll find this to be a kind and caring community.  You are wise to focus getting your education so you will be financially independent.  This will carry you for the rest of your life.  As you may well know transition can be expensive.  You can be free to express yourself and your thoughts here.  I invite you to join in the conversation and start your own threads to initiate your own thoughts and ideas.

Cheers, Jani

Welcome to Trans Pulse, Ellie, and thank you for the nice introduction.  I'm glad that you have an understanding counselor.  Is that a school counselor, a therapist or something else?  Terms may be different between the U.S. and Canada.  Coming here  to talk with experienced folks is a very good idea.  That's how I and many others here got started on our journey, so paying it forward has been a rewarding joy.  I hope that we can help you.  Please ask whatever questions come to mind.  We'll be here for you.

HUGS

Hiya Aep and welcome to our little part of the internet. Come inside and make yourself at home

Im sure you will find something that can relate to your situations here.

Its a wealth of information.

From really useful to just giving you insight to change your music ideology.

When i first came i was into tachovsky and mozart. Now im  a thrash metal goth with a bit of ramones on the side. (That was a poor attempt at humour btw ?)

Hope to see you around

Welcome Ellie.  My therapist mentioned i should be involved on a forum and was delighted to hear i was active here.  Reading about the journeys of others and sharing my path has certainly helped my journey.

Hugs,

Charlize

Hi Ellie, welcome!

I signed up in June at the suggestion of my therapist - although I lurked quietly for a while reading background information.

This has been a good place for me. I'm willing to suggest you'll probably find it a good place as well.

Thank you very much everyone for your kind words and welcomes~ :)
My therapist is a counsellor that I was referred to by my doctor.

I've seen school counsellor's before, and through workplaces (e.g.: health benefits, including private counselling, including online) and have never before had one as great as my current one. He gives great advice and is extremely perceptive.

I hope to start interacting and joining in regularly, when time permits, and thank you all again for your support~~ :)
So nice to be online here~~

Welcome as well, Ellie.  As other have said most of us are  or have been in your same position. While I have been on other forums before here. I joined this one just after I came out  to the VA. I have learned and  grown so much in the little over a year I have been here.

Ask questions that you may have as at least one of us has been there done that and got the shirt or blouse.

Again welcome

Kymmie

I attend a medical day-centre in Texas for needed medical services. It's religious oriented, so not gender fluid friendly. I of course dress 100% in female attire yet androgynous to keep both "them happy", and I really don't mind.    I of course am imposed rules that no other participant is bound by. The examples are the allowed size of my backpack, or how many visits per day I can see my Representative payee.  The gender neutral restroom use was a compromise that all off us have agreed to.  Not being able to wear tanks tops or shorts that aren't "Bermuda length" are other examples of where I am restricted more than any other participant. "Bra talk" is strictly forbidden, even though their doctor and occupational therapist were the ones that told me I needed support due to neck pain.    I found myself being reprimanded by staff three times yesterday for very petty details, and they have constantly pushed for me to remove myself from the program voluntarily. I am of course someone not welcomed in the program, but federal discrimination laws prevent them from removing me. They instead are just making life miserable with the hopes that I will leave on my own.

Nope.  I live in a rural area.  Pride events are for city folks.  The normally quiet LGBTQ+ club kind of changes atmosphere during that time, and things get a bit political.  As a non-Democrat, I avoid it.

For me, definitely the size thing.  I'm 5'4" on a good day, and 100lbs.  I can pass as a teenage boy, but never for my real mid-30s age.  And since my husband looks older than his age, I'm often assumed to be his kid.  Or folks think there's something illegal going on.      Also, my lack of the typical aggressive "masculine" demeanor.  I don't really desire the typical masculine social role, nor could I do it even if I tried really hard.  I'm usually quiet and kind of timid.

I am sorry for your struggles. I cannot empathize, but I can surely sympathize. I wish only the best for you!

No, they are the only provider of services I need an my area. 😑

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.
    • RaineOnYourParade
This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.
    • violet r
I been play texas chainsaw massacre game most recently. It free on game pass right now. Just need a good team
    • violet r
Anyone play war and order on their phones?
    • violet r
I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.
