Do we really want to be Socialists?

That's absolutely awful... and naturally targets women. North Korea isn't really socialist though. More of a dystopian hellscape with a mad dictator. Not too different from the US actually.

That was snarky. Mostly true, but snarky.

You'r right but felt bad for the women who would like to wear female attire and look attractive. I'd hate to have such an oppressive government.

Agreed. We need to make sure this sort of thing doesn't become commonplace. Every woman deserves the chance to feel comfortable with herself, what she's wearing, who she is and who she wants to be.

Women caught wearing a particular type of wrinkle-free trousers are pushing back against the crackdown, arguing with inspectors tasked with regulating their attire.

I say Down with wrinkle-free trousers. Boo To them. An iron and board was good enough for my Mother and my mothers mother. They dont know they are born today,

Problem is. The culture is all diffrent. We might get all narked about what they do in the east. However For them its been normal to respect the past traditions.  Are we just imposing our moral values on them?

Now im not saying they are right. I would be the first to say. Kim Jong un....... Bit of a nutter isnt he?

But unlike say japan where they have many traditions they have also embraced western culture But also kept there own to Where North Korea is a closed state. Only now is it beginning to open a little. Lets not forget North and South Korea was technically still at war with each other. Just a cease fire kept them from tearing each other up.   South Korea intially refusing to actually sign a peace agrement then therefore  I can see why they run a tight ship.

Even japan was very much like this pre 1945.

So to lay blame on anyone. Lets try South Korea and the west in general as realistically peace wasnt reached until 2018. So it took 65 yeas for peace. You can kind of understand why they are a little bit aprehensive about western culture really.

Quote

“She was unable to report for work. The woman appealed [to the inspectors] saying she was in an urgent situation and was unable to [wear appropriate] clothing, but the inspectors made a spectacle out of her by having her stand by the side of the road,” said the source.

That is an improvement. Being honest 10 years ago they would have chuicked her in prison for less. Give them time.

Im all for change. But is our culture for the better? I guess the history we make today will be our judges when viewed in  the future

maybe im wrong but if it was you. Would you be willing to embrace some strange fashion statement if your neighbour wore it just after you had a bust up with them and shook hands after years. I do not think you would embrace there culture straight away either..

The article seems to miss out the history and reasons behind the why is it like this. Just telling the here and now.

The here and now is the time in which these women live, by their actions they are saying screw history, we want to look like women and be pretty. I can't slight them for that!

That's an excellent point. It's easy to forget that tradition has a much tighter hold on hearts and minds in the East. My inner mamma bear just gets grumbly when women are being mistreated. It's easy to forget how different things are in a closed, repressive state like North Korea when South Korea is so Westernized.

I can't guess about culture in Scotland. My great-grandmother left when she was 14 and wouldn't talk about her trip after she went back to visit. I've had friends who came to visit and came back saying good things so I'd guess probably. I'd say US culture is better in some ways, worse in others. We could use more of their connection with our neighbors. I like having enough food to eat. I'd like better access to things North Koreans take for granted. There could probably be something of a beneficial cultural exchange if we could both step back a bit from the lunatics who are somehow in charge. It's certainly possible to improve the future without forgetting the past. As an American, I'm the first to admit we're terrible at it, but it's been done elsewhere.

I like wrinkle-free clothing though. Ironing is a tremendous bother.

You have a lovely smile in that picture of yours Jackie. A sight to behold ?

Scotland. What can i say. It rains a lot. Its cold most of the time. But the people are freindly and the whisky is wonderful. Also it would seem im getting a thing for a nice man in a kilt. So its a win win for me.

I dont live in bigger towns or city. but do pop in from time to time. Realistically its just like any other city in anysville. But just with culture. However the scots always like to have there own spin on it as you will observe. below

Not sure.  The perp is a minor.  The problem here is NOT transgender, the problem here is incompetent and criminal administration.  See https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/family-of-loudoun-co-student-sexually-assaulted-ineptitude-of-all-involved-is-staggering/3231725/ It is more than annoying that people think the problem here is TG and that other people think the solution is some stupid statewide law.  Like an appendectomy to deal with an ingrown toe nail.    Since Loudon, I recall a boy was asked not to use the girl's restroom at a high school by one of the girls.  He, overwhelming her with height and weight,  assaulted her, claiming he had a right to be there.   Later I think eight girls beat him severely in another girl's restroom.  Again the problem is not transgender, the problem is assaults in restrooms and common courtesy.  TG is used as a smokescreen and it seems to paralyze thought among administrators who do not want to do anything to provoke controversy.

Time to get with your Primary Care doctor and be referred to a neurologist or an orthopedist.  It could be many things, too many for any of us here to guess at.

Other than the Boy Scout motto, oath, and law. I use two:   When asked how I'm doing? In all honesty I reply. I would have to make something up to complain. If asked to explain further: I reply. I know someone is having a tougher time than I am, and I pray God blesses them.   I also recite this quote that I have tagged in my signature: Courage, doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."-Unknown    Saying these things daily keep me motivated.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

If this goes on, I am conceding the real possibility of being stopped in WM or somewhere by a concerned citizen who tells me, "Lady, God made you female.  I don't think you should be trying to look like a man. You need to return to your true gender and be comfortable living your life out as a woman."   Begin odd and awkward conversation.  I have been thinking about this this morning.

There are many MAGA GOP types who are not transphobes, of course. Some MAGA GOP types are transgender.

I'm hoping to read the next section today.  Many of the reforms they are calling for are good, such as expediting the military procurement process, and have nothing to do with transgender issues.

Good afternoon,    I have a young friend who is vegetarian and married to a full on meat eater. They have two areas of their grill clearly designated for their different cooking requirements. When she’s cooking she uses tongs or chopsticks to handle any meats. When he’s cooking he respects her request not to cook her meals on the side where meat has been. They get along fine and respect each other.    When she attends our house, she usually brings her own food, but knows I will clean my grill to meet her requirements. We love and respect her commitment to be vegetarian. I love that she trusts me to make her comfortable when visiting us. There are ways to make it work.    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I was going to call it Numbness, then I realised well.. it isn't. basically, yeah, it isn't.   this only happens to me sometimes. I'll be lying down and my legs will.. well, I guess lock?   If I straighten them out, they will unlock- when I roll over again, they will lock again. this lasts for around 10/ 15 minutes I guess   it's not pins and needles either

so, a close friend wants to cook for me   the issue is, she is a vegitarian and won't handle meat- I, on the other hand, won't handle vegetables- hate the things   every time she goes out to the shop, she comes back with something.. a cake, a fruit smoothie, a coffee, I won't eat any of it. please help me think of something that she could make for me that I'll actually eat   disclaimer: you are talking to the most pickiest eater in the world. good luck

I think there is some truth in this.  They intend to implement Project 2025, whether or not he spends his energies persecuting the Democrats who have been persecuting him (in his view, a debatable point) and does nothing else.   I have seen numerous accusations that the document is about "Trumpism", whatever that is, and is merely a vehicle for him to become dictator.  From what I have read so far, that is the same sort of truth as the Steele Dossier, denying the validity of a certain laptop, Schiff's non-existence evidence of collaboration and a host of other things, many directly from Biden, that are simply not true.   I will continue reading it.
