im no expert by far but as I understand it all finasteride does is block one form of testosterone from been produced from the one ur body produces..as u are already on spironolactone then theres no testosterone to convert into what fin stops if that makes sense..i know here in the uk there is a big amount of men who have used fin for hair loss then had what is to them bad side effects, mostly loss of libido ect but also mood effects..to me thats not surprising as it does stop one of the important versions of test being produced so in effect u are chem castrated..if that's something u don't want of course ur gona have depression ect...on the fin forums most say regaining ur hair isn't worth the side effects. since ur test is already blocked fin wont help restore lost hair as I understand it...

Alex, I’m on fin now, but not hrt. My endo appointment to start is late next month. I’ll be having that conversation with them at that time. I’ll let you know their thoughts and whether I continue on the fin.

*hugs*

Finesteride started to do kidney damage. Which my endocrinologist caught. No big loss, it didn't otherwise lower my T levels. So for me... only undesirable side-effects.

But I'm kind of a special snowflake. The Spiro works much better with my system.

Hugs!

Finesteride started to do kidney damage.

Like Jackie C, T blockers (Spironolactone) started doing damage to my kidneys.  It turns out my first gender doctor put me on too high of a dose much too quickly and after 3 months, I had to stop all T blockers for 3 months.  I changed doctors and now I'm back on blockers these last 7 months and I'm taking the lowest possible effective dose available.  My kidneys are fine now and my T level is averaging 40ng/dl which is in the middle range for an adult female.

The Progesterone has been working miracles.  My breasts have rounded out a lot and my areola is a bit larger and darker and looks more female now.  The only lasting side effects I've noticed is a slightly larger appetite and I get sleepy about 30 mins after taking it before bed.  Which timed correctly is a nice perk actually.  I was a bit more moody the first month until my body adjusted but that's normalized now.  I'm on a lean 'veggie heavy' diet and since starting the Progesterone I have noticed that I crave specific foods a bit more often and I do have to hit the sheets a tiny bit hungry on occasion.

Thats all I have,

Susan R?

Thanks Girls. I have not notice nor have my doc noticed any kindey problem but that before I start taking Fin. I do drink a bit and mostly lean meat and fish diet,,,Now I a bit worried about the drinking..being trying to slow down, but then I get even more anxious and depress. Meets do not help because I get super comfortable and conscious of other people looking at me...I am on low Dose on all three. Pro Spir and Fin...Well thank you again for your kindness and support...Alex

I know that my GYN who administers my Spiro keeps a watch on my kidney function along with my T level. Making sure everything is on par for upping my dosage of Spiro.

I thought Spiro was liver damage and Finesteride was kidneys?

That's what they're watching me for anyway. Which is fun, because if you work out it explodes your liver numbers so it takes a little planning to get a semi-accurate Metabolic and CBT.

Hugs!

Being admitted into the hospital after a long ER visit. I started passing lots of blood and they are keeping me for observation.    Nurse came in to see about a condom catheter, that of course doesn't work on me. 🤣   She said, "I guess we will use incontinence supplies on you."

Yeah.  I think this is what it is about.  Since they are not transgender, nobody else could possibly be either.  I'm not sure that a cisgender person can understand being transgender.  But that hardly means that a transgender person's experience is not real - just because it is not theirs. Why is a transgendered person's experience not valid, while a cisgendered person's is?  Why should it be the cisgendered person that decides? Nobody is forcing a cis person to transition.  What I do for myself is my own business.

I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.

I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.

Good luck on selling your wife on the idea of a different car. This could be tougher than negotiating with a dealership.   My wife agreed to my taking profit out of the company to buy a used truck once we found out the 2014 F-250 I currently had with 267,244 miles on it was needing new torque converter solenoids and the DEF system is chocking up. We bought a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, Duramax 4X4, with 163,000 miles. LTZ Off Road package, power mirrors, chrome step boards, rear camera, exhaust brake, and air lift bags on the rear suspension. It belonged to a friend of mine who also owned a mobile training business.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

At the other end and in our favor is Julia Serano's analysis of the Cass Report Fiasco   https://juliaserano.medium.com/the-cass-review-wpath-files-and-the-perpetual-debate-over-gender-affirming-care-8f56d0c4d0c6   Serano is a Trans Woman and a molecular biologist herself, guess whose evaluation I honor.

That's great @MaeBe hopefully the company will offer your wife a moving package with the new job position. That's how I was transferred from the St. Louis Metro area to the Indianapolis Metro area. The company covered all the moving expenses, as well as a three week stay in an extended living hotel while we chose an area to build our current home.   Good Luck and make it a happy adventure.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
