It has been some years now since i went to my first ceremony to remember those in our community lost through violence during the year.  I cried then and have each year since.

 Please be careful.

Hugs,

Charlize

If your community has a TDOR event, do go to it.  We Trans often feel so very alone, but on TDOR we make a point to come together with one another and show support for their lives and find support from our Trans siblings that really do exist. We need each other very much.

I'm going to a TDOR event at a church In Edmonds this Saturday the 23rd with a few friends from my Trans support group.  This will be my first time attending.

I'm currently up here in Ferndale babysitting my grandkids.  As I was driving the kids to their respective schools this morning, I noticed every business and government building with a flag on a pole have their American flags at half mast today.  I can't find any news about why this may be.  I wonder if it is possibly related to this nationwide TDOR.  With 'you know who' in office this seems highly unlikely.  Maybe I missed something big in the news or quite possibly it's just a local thing here.

Where can I find a list of TDOR events?  Until today, I didn't know what the acronym meant.

I did a search in Google with these terms and it gave detailed info of three events near me.  Try it and see if you get local TDOR listings in your area.

Susan R gave you the response I would have.  I am on the planning crew of one in the Pasadena CA area.  Thank you for the more timely answer Susan.

Thanks @VickySGV,  I had a wonderful experience last evening at the Trans Day of Remembrance in Edmonds, WA (20 mins north of Seattle).  I had several friends over for a Thai feast and then we all drove to the event. As we arrived, I pulled up to the church and saw a lot of police vehicles so was a bit concerned at first but it turned out just to be a precaution.  I entered the event and was pleasantly surprised to see several friends from other support groups there.  It felt sort of like a family reunion with people from different parts of the family together at one place.  It was very memorable and but very sad at certain points especially during the reading off of all the names of those slain over the last year.  One of my good friends was there as guest speaker.  She did so well and I was proud of her doing what she did in front of so many people.  After the event everyone attended a buffet put on by the church and caught up with all my friends for hours.  I'll be making every effort to attend these every year.
