Pregnancy (thoughts)

Hello!

Here it is.

Another topic.

I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment and my need to sleep is zero right now.

So, I can't be stopped!

My biggest fear is: pregnancy.

I've always felt absolutely frightened with the idea of having a life growing inside me, never once I thought it to be "magical". Every time I think about it, I remember this scene from "Alien":

Horrifying.

I'm attracted to blokes so, when having sex, there's a possibility of pregnancy. I've always felt the need of a triple condom. Never tried that though.

I dream about sterilization. But it's so bloody expensive...

I was wondering how do you feel about it.

I've read FTMs can become pregnant even after transition.

In my case, I want to have a child, I just don't want to give birth to them myself and I'm not a big fan of surrogates.

I wish to adopt in the future. I'm thinking 8 years old and up. Poor things, everyone prefers to adopt babies and ignore the older ones.

If you can, get your self on a Depo Provera implant ASAP they will also keep you from having a period and ovulation cycle. It inserted into your hip or tummy skin via a small cut, but does very well for what you want.  Your profile indicates you are too old for Puberty Blockers, but the Depo is a good option.  Look it up.,

I've just googled it.

Bloody hell, it seems heavenly.

And no period? Great!

Never heard about it until now. How can this be?

You have no idea how thankful I am for this :)

Parent of two cis daughters, you learn a little.  They are in their 40's.

I have an mirena IUD. My obgyn says she uses the mirena on most of her transmen patients. It has less complications than the copper kind and reduces mentruation flow intensity and duration.

You can have it for 5 years before needing replacement.

Depo shots have a lot of side effects, including weight gain. Something to think about..

Thank you for the advice!

I'm definitely going to talk to a doctor about both options.

5 years is a dream!

I've lost a lot weight recently, I was always skinny but I feel better this way because my thighs are thinner and less womanly now. This happened even though the medication I take (other unrelated issues) supposedly makes you gain weight.

Maybe I wouldn't gain weight with depo shots too but, if possible, I would like to avoid the possibility.

And 5 years! Bloody hell, it sounds great.

I'll definitely ask about it and see what I'm told.

Thank you :)

I had formerly mentioned in one post about a young woman whose parents had put her on Depo-Provera due to her anxiety over  lengthy, painful and messy periods. They did stop completely for over a year, but resulted in a total hysterectomy by age nineteen. Not long after that she went to a free clinic run primarily by a lesbian staff, she wanted to get on female hormones. Someone there convinced her that she'd make a really cute boy. She went on testosterone, had a complete bilateral mastectomy, developed a deep voice, hairy chest and enlarged clitoris. At 5'2" and 110 lbs she came to regret her decision. True story as I knew her personally.

All medications carry some risk and having your medical team on hand to help you over the risked harm is always necessary. This is true for medications or IUD's.

Getting gender therapy and not just relying on prescribed medications or the pressures of others reduces the risk of psychological harm and regret, thus as a post op I never advocate for surgical intervention of any kind because I know what it does not do for us.  Take the time to deal with counseling no matter how much people will think you are going to be so anything or how your life will completely change if you do certain things.  If someone even in a kindly way puts any pressure on you to go for either HRT or surgery, get away from them until you can get adequate and professional counseling.
