New VPN Provider

Evening!

If you'd like to read my glowing review of these folks, you can do so here.  As I did there, I want to say up front that these folks didn't ask us to plug them and we're not getting paid to do it.  We will never accept paid advertising, because that would compromise the purpose of the site.

That being said, I know a lot of us have reason to use VPNs from time to time.  QnEZ, the company that hosts this site, is now offering them on very reasonable terms.  They have plans for all sorts of time periods, including 24 hours (that may not be live yet; if not, it's coming soon) at very good prices.

I know we can trust them with security, because they've kept us safe here for years now.  They're beyond dedicated to both their clients and their clients' causes, and as security conscious as they are they'll be an excellent choice to keep your browsing private when you need to.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled foruming.

Thanks Dev!  I've been considering using a VPN.  My cousin gave me a good review of his provider which is off shore to the US.  Now I have another point to consider!  I also appreciated the longterm support we received from The Breast Form Store.

I haven't found the need for one yet, but the day may come. Thank you.

I use a VPN on occasion just for chuckles. A word of caution.  I tried to access my bank account while using a VPN and they went ballistic. They thought someone was hacking my account.  :D

Sounds like it might be a good idea at some point.  Not sure when that point would be reached, but having a good recommendation is valuable.  Thanks, Dev.

I wondered about that.  Mine uses two point verification, so I'd have ask them about it.

I rely on VPNs for anonymity, as it's downright scary how much cookies reveal about your life to vendors and unscrupulous people.

And while many of us take for granted that the Internet is free of censorship, folks in restrictive political systems rely on VPNs for access to unfiltered news and information. Just ask my daughter, who lives and works in China!

An additional handy use of VPNs is setting your location to a particular country so that you can access media restricted to locals.

Sorry if this is not allowed. I know this is an old post but there's so much misinformation about VPNs I had to say something. 🥺🙏

All VPNs do is provide an encrypted tunnel between you and a different ISP (other than your real ISP). If you trust this VPN provider more than your real ISP (Comcast, AT&T, etc), then using a VPN is great - especially in countries like China where the internet is heavily censored.

However, VPNs do not protect you from cookies or trackers, stop hackers nor any of the slew of other things they may try to convince you that they do. Cookies can track info about your actual PC/phone, and that info doesn't change cause you're using a VPN. A lot of VPNs are also implicated in spying on you just as much, if not more than your actual ISP so do your research! Now some do actually offer some very basic protection from malicious sites and block a few ads. But from my hands on testing, you're way better off using Ublock Origin which is much better at blocking both ads and malware, and it's free and opensource.

@Avra as you noted, this is an old post and the technology has changed and so have the folks you are talking to here.  We have run into attacks from specific groups of VPN's in recent months that we identified as such, and the attacking VPN users have forced us to prohibit use of them due to a couple of crashes caused from them overloading the site with risky garbage.  One or two of the attacks did come from some VPN's in Canada but the folks using them were from areas where lives of Trans people are in jeopardy on a daily basis.  I alerted @Petra Jane who owns the site to the problem you  were having in the post specifically about VPN allowance.

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!

True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.

happiness to me is being ME. At all times, and it has yet to happen.

Hello & welcome, giz! Your post makes me remember how excited I was to join here too. I also had queer friends at the time I joined, but any of my trans friends lived a long distance away. So most local queer friends are gay & I felt uncomfortable coming out to them bc I couldn't assume they'd understand genderqueerness. So it was a thrill to join here and immediately have access to do many wonderful, genuine, kind & thoughtful friends-to-be.   Are you saying you're concerned that if you come out to your queer friends that somehow your parents will find out?     My love, I just want to affirm that that's not a weird dysphoria. It's just dysphoria. And we definitely get it. You're in good company here!     Look forward to seeing you around here & getting to know you. I shoot for androgynous appearance as well, leaning towards masculine.   Hope you're having a splendid day!

Listening to a YouTube mix for me and this song came up and I immediately fell in love again and just want to play music with like minded musicians playing OUR music and feel the joy and fulfillment even if no one else gets it. I love to fall into the music....
