...and we're back!

The surgery went well. There's not oceans of blood like the last time. I'm hardly even sore. Whole thing is maybe a 1 out of 10. I was a little sore, but meh. Got a good look at it today and it looks better! Should be fantastic when it's healed.

I've got three weeks of sitting on my butt to look forward to, but I at least CAN sit on my butt this time. Discharge is pretty minimal and sitting isn't comfortable. I'm not allowed to go to the gym or work though so I'll just be bouncing around the house and studying. TECHNICALLY my textbook is over my weight limit but I schlepped it back from PA on my shoulder so that ship has sailed.

Right then. So I arrived at the hospital bright and early (6:30), they stripped me, had me sign the paperwork and then it was off to the races. Anesthetic happened. I woke up sore and with a catheter bag, but I put myself back together and went back to the hospital before noon. I snacked a little and felt good enough to have a proper meal around dinnertime.

I soaked through my pad during dinner. I was absolutely mortified, but these things happen. Every woman ever has gotten blood on her pants.

My sister-in-law went home the next day.

I started losing packing almost immediately. Bought some nice scissors at the school store and took care of THAT nonsense. Kinked my catheter tube twice. That freaked me out a little. "I have to pee?!? I shouldn't have to PEE!!!" I got through it though. No worries and I didn't bleed very much on the nice hotel floor. Just a drop here and there.

I spent the next couple days reading until it was time to get the catheter out. I navigated to the hospital and found my way to the office. They offered me a seat. I declined because, seriously, I have a catheter rig sticking out of me. The extraction was about how I remember it from last time. I will never, ever understand people who are into "sounding." That's a miserable experience.

After that, Doctor Rumer added a stitch to make sure things held together and sent me on my way. I had to walk about a quarter of a mile up the road to get a signal so I could get my uber ride back to the hospital, but that's pretty minor (and the first time I disregarded my physician's instructions. She said no long walks).

I got back to the hotel room and showered. That was amazing, then I treated myself to a sit-down dinner at the restaurant. After all, I'd gotten to shower and was capable of sitting comfortably. It was nice to rejoin humanity again.

So again, my pain and stiffness are super minimal. I can get around just fine. I had to buy some more pads today, but that's pretty minor. I'm going through about 3/day at the moment but they're not bad when I change them.

The big thing is dilation. First off, my doctor told me that I could back off and just dilate every other day. I'm not going to lower my schedule for a bit though because dilation isn't anywhere near as comfortable as it was before I went in. I want to get all my elasticity back before I start slacking off.

Hugs!

I'm glad it went well. I'm sweating just reading this. Something to look forward to. There's no way i'm put GCS because of the pain getting it. That doesn't even compare to the mental pain i've been through. Heal quickly. Hugs

Great to hear and thanks for the update, extremely informative.?

Yikes! The dilation so soon after....I'm squirming!?

But amazing the pain is so minimal, surgeon must be excellent (and lotsa painkillers too maybe?). Urgh I'm pathetic with pain.

Like I said; I haven't touched my painkillers. Don't need them. The worst I've felt was a little pinch or the "OMG my bladder is going to explode!!!" from when I managed to kink the tube while I was asleep.

I've decided to forego the pad today, there's been no drainage for a couple of days and while they're not UNCOMFORTABLE, being back to my regular undies is MORE comfortable.

I'm also back on my HRT. The hot-flashes haven't stopped yet (please Goddess, soon?) but the progesterone is back to kicking me to sleep between 30 minutes to an hour after taking it.

Surgical site looks good. I'm still a little lopsided, but the bits that were bothering me have been corrected. Nothing to do now but wait for the swelling to go down and the stitches to drop out.

Hugs!

I wish it would do that for me.

Glad to hear you're healing well.

Welcome to the forums! Writer and graphic artist (and photographer) here as well, though most of my life has been spent in the sports realm... bless you with three teenagers!! I have two and they are a handful ... I have found a lot of encouragement and help on this forum... Hope you do as well... Blessings on your journey ahead ...    Easy

During COVID lockdowns without any place to go, some neighborhood buddies and I would play Life for hours (imagine a bunch of middle aged men playing that game, it was a hoot - all sorts of 'house rules')... anyways, as much as I could get away with it, I would choose a pink peg to represent myself... sometimes even had a female name to go with it... this was before I even really pondered whether or not I was trans ...   I was very determined to do this ... so interesting to look back and see all the threads pointing me to where I am now, though it has come as such a surprise as well...   Easy

Thank you all for the helpful responses... I realize some of HRT is for mental health -- like I said above I really am enjoying the ride so far in that regard!   Guess there is a part of me that wants to have my cake and eat it too. I want to have a nice feminine shape within reason for my age (fat distribution - you can kick in whenever you want!!). Yet, I am still not out to family, so I want it to be subtle enough as I go along that I can cover tracks when necessary ... Not the ideal situation but it is what it is ... maybe when family realizes that this is not making me into a monster, they will come around to some of it. I can hope, right?   More and more, I just want to look in the mirror and see a female body staring back at me ... I want female clothing that I put on to look like it fits me to a T... (and by T, I don't mean testosterone, lol)...    EasyE

Good afternoon M.A.   Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums, I think you'll find that there are a lot of us who had their first therapist reconsidering our story and recommended us to gender or LGBTQIA specific therapist. I made my first therapist cry after asking me what was my worst experience or memory. She was not prepared for the can of worms I brought to the couch. My second therapist is a gem, she's my age and knows how to work with my thoughts.    My two kids were also involved in the arts programs in school one in theater, the other combined art and modern music.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome.   This can be a good sounding board and a place to say things you otherwise could not. Be yourself. Find out what that is.   Abby

I'm wearing a white t shirt and jeans.  The t-shirt is softer than a man's and slightly girly.  Feeling kinda pretty.

That's very common in internet forums and it is hard not to take it personally sometimes.   You might post "bump" with a smiley face to bring it to the top of the stack, or you might use the @ feature if there are certain people you would really like to have comment on it, and say something like Dear Abby, I would really like your input on this.  Please take a minute and respond.  Thanks!!!

The same for me... That's exactly were MmIndy came from. I started choosing female skins as soon as they became available in the few games I played.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Something else I noticed @Ladypcnj Since I use the Unread tab, I don't see threads I've read again until someone replies to it, or the author adds something.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Good morning @Ladypcnj   Some posts get lost in the busy times here. It also maters how people navigate the site. Some only look at their notifications, or tap the All Activity tab which shows them thread they've commented on. (how I see it)... I on the other hand use the Unread tag under Activity. I don't think people ignore post as much as they get caught up reading threads they've already been active in.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
