So I have been on doctor supervised HRT since November 22nd (My female birthday!)

I just had another round of T and E hormone blood work testing and I am happy with the results.  I thought I would post this to give timeline and levels to those still early in HRT.  YMMV of course.

T is at 3.3 pg./ml with a target range under 55 pg./ml. The last check my T was at 85 pg./ml.   I find the current level very acceptable but I am on the maximum daily dosage for T blockers they will prescribe.  Although I have zero side effects or anything negative I am ok with this dosage but I would be happier to not need to take so many pills per day.

After my Bi-lateral Orchiectomy in April I will obviously be able to stop these.

E is at 129 ng./dl with a target range of 64-357 ng./dl.  I had no base line E check the first round as there probably wasn't much to see.  I was disappointed with this though as I was wanting a base line of both to see progression.  I assumed the hormone blood work for a transgender person would have both so I did not ask for it, but I was disappointed to find out it did not.  I still am at 2mg below maximum dosage they will prescribe, which I had requested when they were going to put me the max dosage right from the start.  I was thinking my E levels would be a tad higher then it is but I am not unhappy at all.

Remember ranges are just that.  I have never had high numbers despite taking the dosage my doctor properly prescribed.  I have experienced change.  My doctor stresses he doesn't focus so much on numbers as much as how you feel.  So don't get hung up on reaching a specific level in your system.  You body will use what it can.

I fully agree and I feel “normal” nothing to much or to little.
I’m just a numbers gal.  Coming from highly technical fields all my life I like the ranges and stats and numerical tracking of progress or keeping things on track.

Early on I was obsessed with numbers but as time goes on they become less important.  Your body will convert the estrogen as it wants.  I'm a numbers person too but sometimes you have to trust nature!  Things will progress, then stop for a while before picking up again.  Be patient.

I am less obsessed than I was early on but maybe it’s because I’m at the perfect levels right now.  @ShawnaLeigh Your levels are really good for this early into your HRT.  You’ll likely be one of the lucky ones who won’t have any problems keeping within optimal range.  My E levels were always pretty good but it took me a year to get my T levels down into the normal female range.

Oh yes.  I quite happy where I am right now and certainly not stressing over them.
Hence the title of my post.
Yes I’m a numbers person and I do gushed a lot of things on the numbers for work.
My doctor had said we base it off how you feel and I feel excellent.  But I still insisted on getting this blood work done and to see where I was.

Hi ladies, Can I place an apple on your desks. I will sit her and listen and try to be a good girl.  I am in pre school and can't wait to start kindergarten. Quietly wait to start my Female Birthday and write it on my calendar .  I am so excited that I found this site.  I will feel like a little girl, ... like when Mom says that I can wear make-up to school for the first time. How I wish I could have experienced this when I was a kid. For a little girl that must have been a milestone. So I will sit back and learn and try to be happy.

Shawna I agree that you are lucky to have your levels that you have. I has taken me a little over two years to get my t down below 55. My estrogen is 103. I think the numbers do count because when my t dropped from 220 to 31 in 6 months, I really felt the difference! That was before I saw the lab results.

My T values went like this:

3 months: 644

6 months: 487

9 months: 184

12 months: no testing due to coronavirus, if I had to guess probably flatlined at lower 100's. I don't know my E levels, for some reason they're not on my lab panel. I'm very curious why (probably just not included on my Mychart app), and what they are. I'm sure it's fine, I'm on a healthy dose of it. But I've been more concerned with getting and keeping my T levels low. I can't wait to get my orchie...

More important than levels and numbers though is how it effects you, the resulta you get and how you feel. And me, I got and continue to get results, and I feel great!

Hi and great nimbers Shawna,

I started in October of 2019, and like most was and am always checking my labs from my clininc. I started pre hrt at 835 t, and 12 e.

At 3 months was at 17 t and 112 e, so was happy about my t level, but not my e. Did my 6 month labs last week, but switched my whole regimin to a higher dose of e and p. Reduced my spiro lowwer. I also asked them to include an estone test e1. Guess it didnt matter alot, just got my new results, t at 42 and e was up to 361. My estrone e1 was at 311, so have basically a 1:1 ratio between them. But feel happy to have jumped to those ranges and the switch on my meds may even reduce my need to do spiro at all. Heres hoping and waiting for my 9 month labs. Yes I like knowing my numbers. Great job sister!

I am an evangelical  I am also transgender.  This is an issue. I have read up on it.  I am not an expert, but I have done a lot of reading.   One thing I do not get about people who take that position is that evangelicals are all about salvation by faith alone by Christ alone by grace alone - unless you are transgender.  Then you cannot be saved, these say, unless you do the work of un-transgendering yourself.  Which is, practically, impossible.  I have read the "solutions" and I don't buy them, obviously, because they do not work.    In evangelicalism salvation is by faith alone, Christ alone, grace alone, without any merit of our own.  That means, to an evangelical, we come to Christ as we are,  in the words of a glorious hymn,   1 Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidd'st me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   2 Just as I am, and waiting not to rid my soul of one dark blot, to thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   3 Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt, fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   4 Just as I am, thou wilt receive, wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; because thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   We do not clean ourselves up BEFORE we come to Christ.  We let Him clean us up AFTER we come to Him.    Those who insist that transgender people cannot be saved are actually preaching another Gospel, a Gospel of works, and have wandered away from the glorious Gospel into works.  That is strong but true.   Struggling with legalism and grace, I have found more of God's mercy and grace available to me because I struggle with being transgender and seeking His resolution of it.  Which, not having the struggle, I would not have needed to seek Him earnestly on this.

Eventually, (especially if you start T,) things will even out. The excitement you feel is from everything being so new. Finally knowing yourself and having others recognise you can be thrilling. However, because it is your natural state of being, eventually that wears off. There's nothing exciting about it anymore because it's "just you." (Which is a perfect thing to be!) This, however, can lead to disappointment. Trust me when I say however, that that disappointment and jarring reaction to wrong pronouns will go away, and you'll once again feel comfortable in yourself.

I love long hair. I'm wanting my hair to touch the floor. I guess we shall see how long it can get.

I wear a wig most of the time.  But I can get by with my natural (shoulder length) hair if I wear a hat or something to cover the mostly empty top. Unfortunately that train has left the station, sigh.

Oddly enough, just this weekend I read some of my poetry at a local event.  In this case it was a Pride group so I didn't have a particular advantage.  But I have read in more inclusive (of cis people) situations, and been fairly well received.  Let's face it, cis people do deserve an equal chance.   I suppose this might be a problem in the future.
    • Ivy
Of course we do.  The few friends I do have are almost exclusively cis or trans women. I think I could have a relationship with a man, but he would be kinda "other" to me.  Could be interesting though. I never have understood guys - even when I was trying to be one.
