Can I buy/use hormones from online?

Recommended Posts

I am currently waiting for my first appointment at a gender clinic but the wait is over a year for me. I have found online pharmacies which offer products like testogel and I’m wondering if it is safe for me to buy and use. I am currently under 18 but I really want to have male hormones in my body, even if they don’t make massive changes it’ll still feel good knowing I have some extra T in my body. I’m just curious if it will impact my transition in the future and if it might prevent me from getting hormones, and I’m also wondering if there are any side effects to it. Thank you to anyone who can help

Nope. Nope. Nope. Totally unsafe and you can royally screw up important things like your liver and kidneys. Not only do you need those to live, but if you damage them it can ruin your chances of getting HRT safely in the future. Buying online and self-medicating is a terrible idea. Do not do it.

I understand the "anything to feel right" impulse, but this can seriously screw you up for life. Don't do it.

Hugs!

I posted this in another thread a while back. But it doesnt matter how many times i will say it. It still rings true. This is taken from a  my perspective A  woman who once had trans issues point of view but much of the below can also relate to a trans man as in eesence its much the same.

Oh my, my... all the wonderful things you hear about hormones! The magic pills that grow boobs! The wonderful drugs that give you a feminine figure overnight! Make the hair on your arms disappear! The Life Blood of a trans woman. the Elixir of our lives!

You are talking about serious mind and body altering drugs that leave permanent scars and cause irreversible effects, complications, damage, diseases, and death.

Now here is where every Trans woman I ever met swears up and down that they know it all. You most likely have already heard fantastic stories about them, how easy they are to get, and which ones to take.

Be a living one . Be one without permanently damaging your body. Be one that does not drive herself/himself insane. Be  smart .

At least be thankful you're getting the drugs from reputable sources, Not Trannyheaven or iwannabeashemale.com! go to the doc and talk! A lot! Ask questions, get answers, seek out options, get on a plan, and get tested regularly! If it costs your money then so be it.

Talk to the doctor, and above all... go slowly. Its not first past the post!

I hear a lot especially here and sites like this how wonderful it must be to finally be on them! How great they are! How well they work! I hear from crossdressers and transvestites here and other sites how they long for them, can’t wait to get on them, that they so need them to function!

Let’s be for real here for a moment.

Yes, a transwoman pretty much needs a hormone treatment to go full time, and it is pretty much a necessity if you plan on the actual SRS, or GRS, Sex (or Genital) Reassignment Surgery. Can you transition without them? it is done all the time! Many people cannot take these drugs simply because they are drugs, very dangerous drugs, and not everyone can take every kind of drug out there. But my biggest concern is those who pine away for them, cannot wait to get on them, and "need" them. No, you do not need them. I look at it this way... if you need hormones to become a woman, then you are only playing at woman... it is a choice you are making. Either you are a woman from birth, or you are deciding to become one, and I have never agreed with the decision to become one.

if you have no intention of ever going full time, then stay away from these drugs. Period. They are not magic bullets, but they are bullets! They can kill and seriously destroy you!

I am no doctor, but I do know a few things. For one, any form of estrogen being introduced into a male body has side effects. And some quite serious side effects. they cause blood clots in lungs and the legs. People here will concur this. These can break away, travel to your heart and brain, and you die, if this happens, you will be dead before you hit the floor. Quite a price to pay for itty bitty size A Just fit into a bra. Some of us are lucky and get  a C cup. But I AM A LUCKY ONE.

I Read somewhere. One out of every 5,000 who start a hormone thearpy will die from it. If you smoke, you lower the odds to one out of 3,000.

So follow the advice of your doctor and don't run the risk of being one of the 3000.

So to be honest. No its not a good idea.

I pressed submit to early.

My apolgies Alex if that sounded harsh but the reality of the matter is. They are not something you want to self medicate.

Im in the UK also and i had to wait over a year and some for an intiale appoinment. That was Five years ago. If you look in the forums I have posted the gender clinics waiting times Pre lockdown. I can understand your frustration. But it really is better to do it correctly as thsy have been known to frown upon self medicators and it may delay your actually prescribed dosage. They dont like it one bit and it wont show them how keen you are. They will more view it as how, with all due respect. How much you do not think of your own well being

Please don't even think of doing any self medication.  Not only can you cause yourself serious damage but when you are able to get professional help your blood levels will show the incorrect use of hormone therapy.

I know it is hard to wait.  I remember the difficulty, but in the meantime one gets an even better knowledge of self.

Hugs,

I felt the need, the longing to start HRT fully ten years before I actually was able to take them. But there were road blocks and detours that I had to traverse before it would all come together. The biggest hurdle being a mental breakdown I had to come back from. Through therapy I was finally able to ask myself the question “do I want to reveal the woman I am?” Not do I want to be a woman, but I am a woman. I first transitioned as a woman without HRT for about a year before getting an endocrinologist through the VA. Was I anxious and nervously anticipating? YES! Was I really ready emotionally and mentally to start taking very powerful drugs that would permanently alter my thinking, my metabolism and change others perception of who I am? After a year of therapy concentrating on being transgender did it come to pass. Like many before me have said, step one THERAPY and once who know that transition is what you want get medical help to proscribe the necessary medications. The hormones are incredible. BUT legitimately get the hormones from a doctor. Your HRT success depends on it. Your life depends on it. No back door pharmacy is worth damaging yourself.

As hard as it is to wait, it is better to wait than to risk your health self-medicating. You can never be sure of the dosage or quality of the hormones that you buy online. It is so dangerous. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but please do hear it. It is so much better for you to wait and do things properly.

No luck there, really. She's getting a signing bonus plus a little extra that I don't think would cover much in the way of the move, but it is something!   Oh my! I am glad to hear you're not passing anymore blood. I hope they figure it out soon! How distressing!   @April Marie @KymmieL @Mirrabooka @Willow @Justine76, thank you for the kind words and thoughts! We told our best friends last night. There were many tears. Now it's all about the work: selling the house (my wife's friend's son said he may want to buy it direct!), a job (a former employee of mine wants to bring me over to his company--and they're based outside of Tacoma!), and moving (just started going through what we don't want bring and donating things). So things have kicked off.   I'm not so sure of the job, it would be good to work with my former employee (he's great) but I fear the culture may not be super welcoming to someone like me--and the guy doesn't know I'm trans in any way. But I'll give it a shot as my authentic self and see what happens!

@LadypcnjI'm sorry. I know the feeling my mom thinks I'm going through a phase too although I didn't come out till April 17, 2023, so it was later in life. I was in denial majority of my life. I would love to hear more about this if you are comfortable sharing more of it.

I love fashion. I have over 100 dresses and 74 pairs of shoes. My walk-in closet is full of other clothes as well. I'm getting more shorts soon. SHEIN is awesome for quality and price. Just when you get a leather coat from them it's just the shell not the liner. Most of my shoes are from Torrid because I wear size 13 women's.

Unfortunately Oklahoma is about as bad as Texas but definitely not as bad as Florida. Especially as a minor!

I'm sorry @Ladypcnj I can only sympathize with you on that. Therapist on the other hand is crazy. I have had 16 in 10 years. It sucks having to have to go over things. I will say though after 6 therapists I didn't have to explain my history they simply read the history.

I followed you and will give you my advice when I can. It has happened to me a lot too. If you want to you can always message me and I'll get back to you ASAP. I understand your concerns.

I don't use it.   One of my daughters gave me a little to experiment with, but I haven't.  My youngest tried to put some on me once, but I din't like it.  The light was pretty bad admittedly. My ex didn't use it, and my daughters didn't use it much either when they were still at home.  (If so it was very subtle) And I don't often notice it on women my age (mid 70's)   I shave every day.  But my beard is not heavy, and essentially grey, so it's not real noticeable unless you get close with good light.  I was starting to look into electrolysis, but the pandemic hit, and I just kinda dropped it.   Sometimes I do wonder about it though.

It's something I'm just learning but I find I actually enjoy the 'craft' of it in addition to how it makes me look. Even after a fresh shave, I have a mild 5'clock shadow. For me, the primary use of makeup is to get rid of that. I'll start with the orange concealer over facial hair areas and a bit under my eyes. Liquid foundation over that and light concealer used judiciously over that (still dialing that part in). Then just a tad of powder to bring color back in certain places. There are a number of Youtube tutorials on that layering process.    I'll also pencil in my eyebrows a bit since they're blonde and otherwise not very visible. Sometimes I'll get adventurous and give mascara a try but that's a delicate skill and usually I mess it up. I don't particularly like lipstick, but just ordered a 'lip pencil' to experiment with. Hoping for a more subtle effect.

Sunday is my weekly ablution day - all of the parts that need occasional shaving get their required attention. The weather is rainy and cool today so after the ablutions and shower, I put on blue jeans, a gray t-shirt and a black front-zip hoodie along with gray sneakers.   And, I did put on make-up, not to impress anyone but just to feel as if I'm looking my best....as good as that can be given this woman is now 69 years old.

There are lots of us here willing to offer support, ideas, a shoulder or just a smile. Working with your therapist and finding your true self can be difficult process...but it will also be filled with wonder and joy as you discover that person who's been waiting inside you to be found.   Just know that you are not alone.
