Shopping to be Me

Markie

Recommended Posts

Hi Girls,

Going to do some shopping this morning. @Tori M @KayC  I do love just browsing and being girly. An androgynous look today should suffice. With these masks we wear, makeup is almost a non issue other than a little eye makeup. My pink mask completes my slightly feminine look. A padded bra, painted nails, baggy top and shorts with flip flops should be nice. A nice floral scent and I’m out the door. I let you know if I find something nice. ❤️

Thank you, @Markie!  Sounds fun! wish I could go with you ?

I was just browsing on Amazon ... Androgynous is not exactly a "category" for their search options but I was able to find some jean, blouse, vest/jacket combos I thought would fit that type and might look good on me.  Maybe we should start a clothing line?

I think this is a good topic for this Forum.  Thank you for getting it started❣️

Kay C, I think you are on to something. In the beginning, I would go to Kohl’s and pick outa couple of tops then grab a men’s shirt and go try them on. Once at the Gap, the girl in the changing rooms was so nice that I asked her to check out the way the ladies jeans fit me. She ended up getting me a different ladies style to try on. They fit so nicely, I bought two pair. It was a very nice experience and helped me get more confidence. Have a sweet day!

That would be awesome and I am early in my transition and being a 60s/70s girl, I love the look of Boho dresses but as you say, Amazon isn't too good for what I'd like to see. Ebay isn't much better - especially with what I like so far coming for overseas vendors.

Yeah, with women's clothing you REALLY need to try it on to see if it fits right. Different brands and styles are cut for different body types and we're all so DIFFERENT that buying online is really a crap-shoot.

Hugs!

Yep - I've had to buy many times just to figure out what my size is in every item it seems...sometimes pleasantly surprised, most of the time sadly disappointed and can't return....maybe we could put together a clearing house for unusable items we have instead of just throwing out or giving to Goodwill and make these available to our sisters for the cost of the lowest shipping costs we can find. Maybe even better is to set up a link we can use to list what we have to give away and then charge lowest shipping costs available. I do ebay to sell my comics to help pay for things and I would be willing to put together a guide to shipping cheap.

Hi All,

My little pink mask got me “4-mams” this morning. I do think that working on my walk is helping a lot. I think that it would be great to have a shopping crew of gal pals. I think that would be so much fun. I saw a cute dress and really wasn’t sure so I passed on it. Now, I miss it so much. I may go back tonight to get it. I might ask the salesperson their opinion. Be safe and happy.

I like this idea if you can figure a way to make it work.

Online, I've been buying a LOT of summer casuals at this chain called Beals.  Lots of clearance deals, decent quality for the price (a few pieces are a little thin but it's a southern chain; think HOT), good shipping (free over $75) and everything I've ordered fits!  $23 for Lee jeans.  I even found slippers and Hushpuppy mocs in my size (12 ladies).  https://www.beallsflorida.com/online/

I agree with Jackie, at the beginning of my online shopping it truly was a crap-shoot.  But, after a few "Fails" I was able to nail down my size and style options.  Very rarely disappointed now with an online buy.
But, in-person shopping would be much better and more fun obviously.  I just don't have that option right now.

One of my most liberating moments came when a sales lady asked me who I was shopping for. I replied “for me”. She leaned in and said, “let’s go girl”. She asked me about my tastes, told me it was a slow day and had me trying on different styles for 2 hours. I learned so much about how different styles would look on me. She was my angel!

Quite true.  The amusing thing about opposites is how similar they can be.   My family left Greece because of the conflict between the communists and the militarists/fascists.

This wouldn't even be a problem if they would just leave us alone.  It is a no-brainer.

OMG.  I'm glad it wasn't worse, and you were able to get on it quickly.  Lots of blood can be scary.

Like I said, I'm no tankie, but I do see a world of difference between Joseph Stalin and Bernie Sanders.   If the point is not wanting 'government control' the Right is pretty good at that themselves - as they've been demonstrating lately. This stuff gets complicated.

So, I am curious. Is the Governor going to mandate vaginal or penile recognition photos before one enters the restroom? Considering the Governor has no balls to do the right thing, will he have to pee against a tree outside? Inquiring minds would like to know. I love it when the job recruiters contact me about the wonderful jobs available in Oklahoma. It is so much fun telling them there is no way I will ever go to Oklahoma. When there are no workers, then they can shutter the place.

Ngl, probably Sonic the Hedgehog, the Beatles, or the Monkees. Those are the three subjects I know the most about so I could drop hours of info on them.

Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!

Congratulations Sam,   The common saying her once someone starts HRT is: “Enjoy the ride.”   Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

WOW @Ashley0616 it’s good that you have skills to treat traumatic injuries, as well as the ability to remain calm while managing others needs to get yourself and the boys ready to go to the hospital. Proud mama bear skills. I’m glad that he’s doing well.    Meanwhile back at the ranch, we slept in and I’m just now finishing my 3rd cup of coffee.    Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well yesterday was not fun. I was getting ready to make dinner and I hear screaming and crying. I look over and my son put his foot through glass. He gashed near his Achilles tendon. Thankfully that is intact. I didn't freeze for a second. All of my military training came into play. I doctored him up and got Jett ready and myself and we headed to the ER. He is doing ok today. He says he is in pain but doesn't need Tylenol. He is a tough cookie!

Hi,   It's seems today is my trans birthday.  I'm beyond excited. Just picked up my testogel from the pharmacy. Although I naturally have doubts as I'm sure do we all, they are rapidly disappearing. Yesterday I was so nervous I kept claiming I'm not trans, despite grinning like a fool knowing I can pick up my prescription the next day. I'm shaking and on the verge of happy tears. I will put on my first sachet this eve. Thanks so much to this forum and kind words from people. This is the first forum I found when I began seriously questioning.
