Hi everyone! D'vorah is the name I'm thinking of adopting, so I'm going with that for now (it means "bee" in Hebrew). I'm a 40 year-old Jewish trans-femme AMAB person currently using they/them pronouns and identifying as non-binary, but I'm also having serious doubts as to whether or not I'm actually a trans woman, or whether being a trans woman is simply one important part of a multi-part gender experience. I'm almost certainly going to be starting estrogenic/anti-androgenic HRT in the very near future, and I'm feeling a mixture of excitement, relief, and joy but also nervousness and some fear around health effects (primarily cardiovascular, as heart disease is a serious issue effecting AMAB folks on both sides of my family). I'm also starting to seriously consider bottom surgery but want to give HRT some time first.

I'm on this site in part because I want to learn from other trans women and non-binary trans-femme folk about their transition process, specifically around starting HRT, bottom surgery, feminization processes, and navigating work and family while transitioning. I'm primarily here because I recognize how important it is to have community as a trans person, and I want to connect with other rad trans folk who are in various stages of their own transition. One of my biggest ongoing struggles is with imposter syndrome - I've been "out" as non-binary for over three years, but it wasn't until recently that I was even able to fully embrace the term "transgender" for myself. Being in non-monogamous relationship and having past and present partners who affirm my femininity has been huge, and friends in the trans community have likewise been affirming of my trans-ness even when I have not. I want to expand this community and also be an affirming, supportive witness for others.

Other stuff about me...I'm a mental health counselor, musician, and activist doing occasional volunteer work for environmental justice and mental health equity. I'm vegan, I love to garden, I'm a huge reading and book nerd, and I'm into all kinds of physical activity including biking, running and hiking.

Hope that's not too long of an introduction! I look forward to connecting, learning and continuing to walk this path, wherever it may lead.

Welcome D'vorah!

I think you will find a lot of support and answers here. I know I have.  Thanks for the full intro though, it sounds like we have a lot of similar interests. Gardening, bikes (don't ride anymore due to back injury but raced back in the day) environmental advocacy, and while I'm not very musically inclined I've made some beautiful instruments.  Totally jealous of those who can play well ;). Welcome again!

Welcome to Trans Pulse, D'Vorah!  That's a pretty name.  It sounds like you're coming up with all the right questions, and going about this cautiously.  Heart disease can be an issue with HRT, but your doctor is best to guide you.  We do have folks here who have had heart problems who still transitioned.

Congrats on your work as an activist.  That is a noble pursuit.  Please look around the forums and post wherever the urge strikes.  We will do our best to answer all your questions.

HUGS

Carolyn Marie

Welcome D'Vorah! I think many of us have suffered imposter syndrome through our journeys. You've found the right place for community, there are so many wonderful folks here. Looking forward to learning more about your journey. Have a wonderful day! Hugs!

Well, you found the right place!  All the areas you mentioned are here and great people to help and share with.

Its been enormously beneficial to me in a short time.

I think you have a unique perspective to share with others here, being where you are in the process of transition, and also being in the mental health profession.

I understand the anxiety over the "imposter syndrome", and for me that is something that I have felt I have been taught to do by society as AMAB and having to deny my dysphoria for soooo long.

So now, I am just at the very beginning of my transition journey and just starting therapy (wherever it ends up) so I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

Deep breaths ... one step at a time❣️

Time to get with your Primary Care doctor and be referred to a neurologist or an orthopedist.  It could be many things, too many for any of us here to guess at.

Other than the Boy Scout motto, oath, and law. I use two:   When asked how I'm doing? In all honesty I reply. I would have to make something up to complain. If asked to explain further: I reply. I know someone is having a tougher time than I am, and I pray God blesses them.   I also recite this quote that I have tagged in my signature: Courage, doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."-Unknown    Saying these things daily keep me motivated.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

If this goes on, I am conceding the real possibility of being stopped in WM or somewhere by a concerned citizen who tells me, "Lady, God made you female.  I don't think you should be trying to look like a man. You need to return to your true gender and be comfortable living your life out as a woman."   Begin odd and awkward conversation.  I have been thinking about this this morning.

There are many MAGA GOP types who are not transphobes, of course. Some MAGA GOP types are transgender.

I'm hoping to read the next section today.  Many of the reforms they are calling for are good, such as expediting the military procurement process, and have nothing to do with transgender issues.

Good afternoon,    I have a young friend who is vegetarian and married to a full on meat eater. They have two areas of their grill clearly designated for their different cooking requirements. When she’s cooking she uses tongs or chopsticks to handle any meats. When he’s cooking he respects her request not to cook her meals on the side where meat has been. They get along fine and respect each other.    When she attends our house, she usually brings her own food, but knows I will clean my grill to meet her requirements. We love and respect her commitment to be vegetarian. I love that she trusts me to make her comfortable when visiting us. There are ways to make it work.    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I was going to call it Numbness, then I realised well.. it isn't. basically, yeah, it isn't.   this only happens to me sometimes. I'll be lying down and my legs will.. well, I guess lock?   If I straighten them out, they will unlock- when I roll over again, they will lock again. this lasts for around 10/ 15 minutes I guess   it's not pins and needles either

so, a close friend wants to cook for me   the issue is, she is a vegitarian and won't handle meat- I, on the other hand, won't handle vegetables- hate the things   every time she goes out to the shop, she comes back with something.. a cake, a fruit smoothie, a coffee, I won't eat any of it. please help me think of something that she could make for me that I'll actually eat   disclaimer: you are talking to the most pickiest eater in the world. good luck

I think there is some truth in this.  They intend to implement Project 2025, whether or not he spends his energies persecuting the Democrats who have been persecuting him (in his view, a debatable point) and does nothing else.   I have seen numerous accusations that the document is about "Trumpism", whatever that is, and is merely a vehicle for him to become dictator.  From what I have read so far, that is the same sort of truth as the Steele Dossier, denying the validity of a certain laptop, Schiff's non-existence evidence of collaboration and a host of other things, many directly from Biden, that are simply not true.   I will continue reading it.

      Who, precisely, are "they"?
