Hello! My name is soso and I’m new here (obviously). I am fourteen years old and recently discovered that I’m non-binary.

I randomly started questioning my gender a few months ago, and I went through a bunch of titles and pronouns before settling on non-binary, with they/them pronouns. I’m not out to anyone in real life, but would like to come out to my friends eventually.

I want to change my name, but I’m not quite sure what to change it to. For now I go by soso, since it’s more gender neutral than Sophia. (If anyone has any tips on how to find a new name, please tell me)

I don’t think I’ll ever come out to my family. They are both homophobic and transphobic and just a hot mess in general. I am also asexual panromantic, our to only my close friends. Hopefully I’ll be able to marry whoever I want when I’m older without my family there to stop me.

If you were wondering why my family is such a hot mess, it’s because I have anxiety, depression, adhd, and Asperger’s syndrome and don’t want to burden them by asking for help. My sister is bipolar, which causes her and my parents to get into some pretty ugly fights, which triggers my anxiety and depression. So yeah, hot mess.

Hopefully I’ll meet some new people here with similar experiences! Goodbye for now!

Welcome soso to trans pulse forums, and thanks for your intro post. nice to have you here with us :) coming out is a big step, that should be considered carefully, because once the Genie is out of the bottle, you can't put it back....

Have a look around, join in the conversations, start your topic(s), post away as the mood strikes ya

Hugs

May I ask if you go to counselling or aren't taking any meds for your depression, etc. I have depression issues and meds help a lot. Also I have a son with Asperger's and he would not even be able to write the email without having issues, so you are apparently high functioning.

No matter what you discover about your gender and thoughts it is good to find therapists who can guide you and support with those who care like this forum. So take it slow and make sure to talk with those who may have already been down similar roads and ask for their advice.

Welcome to Trans Pulse, Soso.  I hope you meet others here around your age and learn a lot from our forums and posts.  Please chime in wherever you like.  I agree with Shay that it is important to get treatment for your issues.  Ignoring them isn't going to help you at all, and may make learning and focusing in school more difficult.  But in the end it is up to you.

I am not currently taking any medications or going to counselling, though I would like to. I have been told many times about how high functioning my Asperger's is. I will definitely be taking things slowly, that's why I signed up for this. Thanks for the Welcome!

it is good you seek to counselling. that is very wise. i am not sure how is best to find help at your age but perhaps some of those here who are aware of good support groups and counselling for someone your age especially if at this point you dont feel it is something you cant share with your family.

Hi soso!  nice to meet you and Welcome!

Its very encouraging at your age that you are both self-aware and aware of your family situation and surroundings.  Based on both I am sure there may be difficulties and more anxiety until you can live on your own at some point, but I hope you can stay grounded in your self-confidence and accept small changes and victories as they come along (and endure through some of the low points we all experience in our teen years)

I also hope you have counseling services at school or options for therapy to help you deal both with your gender identity and life situation, and that you can take advantage of these services.

We are all here to listen and support each other.  Welcome again❣️

Deep breaths ... one step at a time
