So, I saw a couple of memes on my timeline and they kind of made me think twice about myself. Maybe I am trans? I am tempted to want to try it out at least to see, so... if I could get people to leave me tips to ease into it, like where to find clothes that fit my body nicely and how to make myself look more the way I might want to, it would be appreciated.FB_IMG_1595534316084.thumb.jpg.d3568b262eafa10afc206607c9402f3b.jpg

This may not be the right help since you have not really been too specific about the style you'd like to know more about. I have just a couple ideas that may or may not be helpful. They are how I sorta started out. Each of us has a different situation we wish to navigate too. That makes a difference for sure. Grow your nails out a bit. I started painting my toe nails and keeping them painted. They don't have to look perfect. That takes time. To be honest that helped me find comfort on days I was really unhappy with my body. I get out of the shower and just seeing my toe nails painted helps me feel better. I keep giggling every time I forget and have a doctors appointment cause I always wonder if they are going to ask me to take my socks off. If that happen's I am going to just be honest about it. If you know you need to go out it's pretty easy to cover them but, you also get a safe way to take that little piece of the "new you" out on the town. When you get time, try doing the nails on your hands too. Make sure you have nail polish remover though. I didn't and had to dash through a store to get some. I remember the look the old woman gave me at the check out. It was fear and disbelief. I would advise you try to avoid that while trying to build your confidence. I also knew a couple of really girly girls that were totally cool with me asking questions about how their nails looked so smooth. One said she was jealous because I had prettier nails than her but, I disagree. She has very dainty petite hands. Base and top coat polish really make a difference. You could possibly grow out your hair too. You could get a bag that you can treat like a purse, such as a small backpack. Feminine smelling lotions and body soaps are really good too. People near you may smell them but if they say anything it will likely be a compliment I bet. I know some of my co workers have noticed but have been very careful not to say anything. I have not exactly come out, just sorta stepping out with a little different vibe and as I get more comfortable I reach for a little more. I haven't had any real life people to share with so it's been forum advice just like you are asking for right now. It's not easy but, there are so many people here that I'm sure will give you even better ideas. I hope this helps but I wasn't sure about what you were specifically looking for. Good Luck.

I appreciate your input! Sadly, my hair looks awful when it grows out and I work in a factory, so longer nails are going to end up as broken or chipped nails x.x However, I will keep the toenail thing as well as the feminine lotions in mind. I might enjoy smelling good for a change, haha!

Give us a hint sweetie. We can't suggest clothing sources until we know what your (approximate) sizes are. Girl sizes are tricky. There is no standard. Sizes for women are designed to fluff your ego instead of being helpful. For example, I talked to a lovely dressmaker in San Francisco who made plus size clothing. His sizes started at zero.

On the plus side, that means, oh horrors, you have to try things on in the store. At least when there isn't a pandemic going on.

Sadly, I am quite tall, standing around 6 feet. In men's clothing, I wear a XL shirt and somewhere between size 34 and 36 waist.

OK, so probably a 2XL, maybe a 3XL in women's and maybe a 1X or 2X in pants.

So here's what I did when I wasn't quite sure if I was in fetish territory or if I really needed to transition: I went on Amazon and checked the women's clothing section on clearance. I bought a couple of breast forms, a pocket bra, a pair of thigh pads and a wig. I was WAY overweight then, as opposed to just a little overweight like now so I had to go a little big. I timed my deliveries so they'd arrive the day my wife left for a conference so I had about five days to be full time.

I looked terrible, but I felt right for the first time in forever. I absolutely needed more and realized that I needed to transition if I wanted to be happy. Two years later, I had my GCS. My marriage is stronger and I could pass for a well-adjusted person in bad light. Progress!

Hugs!

It isn't all about the finished product Wolfy. It's truly about the experience. It is something to go to the salon and have instant gorgeous nails to show off. It is a whole different level when you've spent time caring for your nails and watching them grow. Of course, breaking a nail stinks. I actually felt pretty awesome the first time I got a broken nail. My reaction just felt so right. It takes time to find the right mixture of things that make you feel good. The main thing is find little things that you can try but, don't be to quick to shut yourself down if it isn't perfect. It's all about finding the things that make you feel your best. Whatever that turns out to be will be ok.

For nails at least, taking care of them like a routine is nice: Push back your cuticles, make sure your nails are short and smooth with nail files. There's whole youtube videos on cuticle care.

Taking care of your feet like: removing dead feet or calluses can be relaxing.

Perfume is another great option! Unless others around you are sensitive to scents... I recommend what Abi said and go for lotions!

For lips, you can use very sheer tinted lip balms for a nice subtle color. AND, it's moisturizing! There's a lot of makeup that is super super sheer and gives a slight hint of color. Also, mascara.

I'm not sure how you feel about shaving, but you can make it a routine for your legs or arms.

Finding a style of clothing that fits you and speaks to you is super hard; covid makes it hard to try out clothes in person :/. I always go to pinterest for inspiration or google images.

Overall, it's *alot* of self care, which is very nice :3

I don't have any tips but I just wanted to say that it was a meme of sorts that finally cracked my egg too! A Twitter screenshot someone posted somewhere that said something like "honestly I don't mind cis people doing [the faceapp gender-swap thing] simply because of the number of eggs it has cracked" and my first thought was "haha well I better never do that because then I might...wait...oh. Well crap."

@Prettywolfy you sound like a pretty similar size as me. When it comes to buying clothes, I try to find stores that have a tall section, especially when it comes to dresses and pants. I have pretty good luck with ASOS and American Eagle, as well as Old Navy. My style has evolved over the years, but even though I'm a bigger girl I've still been able to find clothes that are flattering and feminine.

Also! I know growing out your hair can be a challenge, but if you can handle having your hair look rough for a little while while it grows out, once you have a little bit of length getting a good haircut from a salon will work wonders. I have no idea what your hair texture is, but whether it's pin-straight, wavy, or super curly there's tons of YouTube tutorials out there that can help you develop a routine to meet your needs. Don't be afraid of conditioner and styling products as your hair gets longer too.

@Prettywolfy As far as tall, I understand (I am 6'4" and know I am in the range of 2x-3x in women's). If you are looking for clothes, I found Eddie Bauer has great jeans that area actually tall! I was wearing the bootcut to work pre-covid with no incidents of anybody saying anything.

I am going to have to try to be better about self-care, it is just so hard with the way my mood has been. It hasn't been terrible, just not good either. Maybe it is something that can help my mood. -shrug-

Good evening   @Adrianna Danielle wow 13 years out of a harbor freight tool.  That’s amazing, and lucky.  I read an article recently about how harbor freight does make inexpensive tools. It seems that some percentage of them are expected to fail in some manner.  However they are typically made with the same laborers  parts design as name brand high end tools.  If you get a good one it can last for a long time.

Happy anniversary @Willow!   Good luck, @Birdie!   Congratulations on the new gear @Adrianna Danielle!   My family is currently considering a big move. My wife applied for and received an offer for a job in WA. If all things are equal I am down for a change of scenery, but it’s not that simple. Much maths are about to happen…wish me luck! ;)

Or they could live and let live and not clog the courts with games of roulette? To absolve the attempt based on a perceived chance of success is gambling in another guise.   Sure, it could all be marketing to gin up the base, but we see it constantly getting pushed at the local, State, and Federal levels. Don’t we want lawmakers focused on issues of import? Maybe we’re a distraction, but that means we become social targets. If we’re really just a side show game to them, they obviously don’t give a damn what the repercussions are for us; we’re just lambs for slaughter. So why support people or adjacent policies that do that to us? Why believe these jaguars won’t eat your face when they tell you that, if they can, they will?

Manufacturing jobs have increased by nearly 800k since Biden’s inauguration. Deficits and debt are up as well, which water down some of the positive metrics.  Given the fact we were coming out of a pandemic and then into a global economy affected by a Russian aggression and then a war in the Middle East, things wouldn’t be ideal. But we’re not on a gold standard anymore. Government budgets aren’t household budgets. Inflation was up but is coming down, which means that government spending isn’t uncontrolled.  Honest news media? Which news are we referring to? I recommend looking into Ground.news and their blind spot feature. It will show you, regardless of your leanings, what you’re not seeing in your typically consumed news.    MAGA is not about making America great again or otherwise. It’s a marketing cult for populist conservatism, aka the cult of Trump. America being great is not bad or a bad idea, but its choice as the moniker of the campaign is not-so-subtle political marketing. By default, no one wants to argue against the idea, however it creates a dichotomy where “the other side must not want (or is actively trying to destroy) it”. It’s an empty slogan because America was no greater during the Trump years and you can logically argue our global cache was diminished during his term, which was marked by sentiment of the US being a unilateral agitator.

smiles I think I need to help him find a way to simply love others, regardless of identifying with them or understanding their journey..but I thought I recall stories of Jesus being asked which of 10 laws were greatest..n the answer being 1. God us God n have no other gods you worship..asking forgiveness to friends who practice religions with polydieties..but I think catholic say 1 god..n the 2nd rule is almost as important..love each other as I have loved you   maybe if I can focus him on we all believe God wants us to love n help each..maybe he'll forget the footnote he seems to be inserting, unless they are lgbt..then they go to hell...nerd   sorry probably too politically charged..delete if so with my apologies  hugs to all who want them

So, I don't know what this is called, but it's kind of like when you see the boob bridging to the collarbone. I hate it. You can totally see I have a chest. How do I fix it and what is it called?   (I'm wearing an old gc2b binder I got from someone at school that is not my specific sizing, but it's all I can work with)

Nationally, sure.  But where I live, there aren't two large segments.  There's a majority, and a few who just don't fit and probably ought to move out.  I was in a nearby city a few days back, and I saw a billboard for the "Freedom From Religion" foundation.  That's acceptable there.  Here... folks would be making a bonfire.    I don't really see how the different sides CAN get along.  I see what goes on in California, and its like watching news from some alien planet.  It has very little to do with LGBTQ+ issues, really.  I can't live their way, I won't live their way, and I have no desire to compromise at all in that direction.  I'd prefer to be neighbors in separate nations, and I think folks would get along better that way.  I firmly believe the anti-trans stuff wouldn't exist here if we had a new republic of the Center-South area.  Even a micro-state of just my county and a couple others would be fine.    I get the giggles when folks think that Trump is somehow "far right."  Around here, he's a barely-acceptable centrist.  And by the standards of 100 years ago, its true.
    • Ivy
I don't think the Dems have a corner on division.  I do try to kinda keep up with the antics on Fox for 5h1+s and giggles. We have two large segments of the population, living in their own bubbles, with completely opposite views of our society, who never talk to each other, only at each other. People don't even want to get along with each other. We're tearing ourselves apart from the inside, while the rest of the world just sits back and watches.
